This is another excellent 2020 book, and a read-in-one-sitting! I hadn't read the first book in the series, but I was totally fine picking up Mistletoe and Mr. Right. Lana and Rick are another great pair of protagonists, and I loved that they did have separate lives happening as well- so often, characters only exist in relation to a possible partner. Their friends are hilarious, and I hope that Morgenthaler continues the series so that we can continue their stories. And more than anything, this book made me LAUGH. There are penises on mountains (but WHO did it??), an errant Santa Moose (that's literally my dream), and a taxidermied squirrel in a long white nightgown gazing out into the night sky. What can't you love?! The perfect escape from holiday stress!

While this is a series (The Moose Springs series), I think both the books could be read as stand-alone! I really enjoyed this book because we get to learn more about Lana; we got the barely-scratching-the-surface side of Lana in "The Tourist Attraction". Now, in "Mistletoe and Mr. Right", we get to see the deeper parts of Lana, the little girl who fell in love with Moose Springs and the people in it, the grown woman who still cares so deeply for the town that hates her, and the pressure she constantly feels to be a Montgomery. Rick is sweet and kind but life isn’t going great for him.
This was very cute and perfect for the holiday season (which I’m loving all these Christmas reads, lately). I loved the premise and especially the charm & character of Moose Springs. It also was a slow burn closed door romance. But don't fret, there was so much chemistry and mutual attraction (and kissing) between Lana and Rick, and their out of practice awkward dates were hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud! This book will not only have you falling in love with Alaska, and Lana and Rick's romance, but you will be cheering for Lana as she proves that she is an absolute strong and powerful female exec.

A cute romance and an attention grabbing first sentence to start off the book. Normally it takes me a few chapters before I have decided whether or not to stick with a book, but not with this one. That first sentence hooked and reeled me in.

Lana Montgomery works for the Montgomery Group which is owned and run by her wealthy family. She is determined to get her luxury condominium project up and running in one of her favorite places in the world, Moose Springs, Alaska. The locals though aren't too thrilled with her plans.

Rick Harding is a business owner in town and has a bit of a crush on Lana. Not exactly a smooth talker as he gets painfully shy when he is around her. Lana might benefit from his help in changing the public's perception of her. The book falls in the romance genre, so need I say more? Minus the story line brought up in the opening sentence of the book, this one has Hallmark Christmas movie written all over it.

I hadn't read the first book in the series before tackling this one and I kinda regret it. I'm not saying this book can't be read as a standalone novel, but I do feel like my reading experience would have been enhanced had I known some of the characters that make appearances in this one like Graham and Zoey, beforehand. Felt like I was missing out just a tiny bit.

The book had a sweet romance but Lana and Rick's chemistry wasn't exactly off the charts. They were nice, decent characters though. They just didn't have the "it" factor or whatever it is that my favorite fiction couples seem to possess. This is the type of story that I can enjoy while I am reading it but it doesn't make the memorable read category.

I do have a slight gripe about the word "dearest", which according to my Kindle search was used 42 times in the story. Get a new word, Lana! It was extra weird and quite frankly irritating when the character would say it to someone she barely knows.

Hallmark movie in book form! This has all the Hallmark bits: power career woman goes to small town, falls in love with town, tries to save it despite itself. Meets small business owner-love and chaos ensues.

Honestly, this is super sweet, but it's all a bit....formulaic? That said, there are some really great scenes. The "squirrel date" is worth the price of admission.

Great book! I love the town of Moose Springs Alaska! They struggle to a make a living yet are reluctant to cater to tourists who do not quite understand them. Rick is the owner of a run-down pool hall. He is infatuated with Laura who spent lots of time in Moose Springs growing up. She is back now trying to build condominiums and bring revenue to the town. This is where she would like to call home. Laura is out of Rick’s league. She is heir to a multi-billion company and struggles to keep her other family members from trying to make Moose Springs fail. Laura tries to get the townspeople to accept her but throwing a huge Christmas party results in few attendees. There are serious moments but lots of humor as well. Sometimes we just need to be patient and show others how much we care.

Lana Montgomery is everything the quirky small town of Moose Springs, Alaska can’t stand: a rich socialite with dreams of changing things for the better. But Lana’s determined to prove that she belongs... even if it means trading her stilettos for snow boots and tracking one of the town’s hairiest Christmas mysteries: the Santa Moose. The last few years have been tough on Rick Harding, and it’s not getting any easier now that his dream girl’s back in town. When Lana accidentally tranquilizes him instead of the Moose, it’s clear she needs help, and this could be his chance to finally catch her eye.

Mistletoe and Mr. Right is a second chance romance that it was sweet and fun. This is the second book in the Moose Springs series and I loved catching up with the characthers from book one.
Can’t wait for the next one.

This is the second book in this series by Sarah Morgenthaler and this one did not disappoint! I instantly want to get onto a plane to Moose Springs, Alaska and become friends with every one of these characters.

Lana was a great female character in my opinion. She knew what she wanted, she was an extremely hard, and passionate worker, and also cared so much about Rick and the entire Moose Springs community.

Rick was my favorite character. He was a hard working business owner and a great uncle and cat/hedgehog dad. His reactions towards Lana were endearing and often funny. He was smitten and like a middle school boy with a crush. He didn't know what to say around her half of the time and I think thats what I loved about him. He was so worried about her and only wanted the best for her.

They came from two very different worlds but they still found each other and they fell in love. I usually am not a huge fan of "insta love" but this was so well done.

Now, time for me to nerd out a little. I LOVE tourism and destination marketing. I have a degree in it and could talk about it for hours. This book made me feel giddy with all the talk of how tourism affects this small town and what would happen without tourism in the area and how business owners survive off of tourism. I felt like this was a really accurate representation of small town tourism marketing. It was so well written and I loved reading about it!

overall, this is a wonderful read for the holidays. I highly recommend this and I cannot wait for the third book to come out!

Mistletoe and Mr. Right is the second book in a series. It's a feel good read, with a cute story and lovely characters who are very easy to connect with.

Lana Montgomery is beautiful, rich, a force to be reckoned with in any situation, primed to be the heir to the Montgomery real estate empire... and Public Enemy Number One in Moose Springs, Alaska. Lana had good intentions when she bought up the entire town, desperate to save the one place that feels like 'home' from financial ruin. But everyone hates her, her greedy cousin wants to see her--and Moose Springs--fail, someone has carved male genitalia in the snow pointing directly at her condo project, and--for reasons she still cannot determine--she declared in front of all of Moose Springs that she would try her hand at capturing the elusive Santa Moose--a seemingly ghost-like creature who is (literally) the world's biggest Grinch, destroying the town's holiday decor. Things could only be worse if she accidentally shot her crush with moose tranquilizer, right?

Divorced and owner of Moose Spring's pool hall, Rick Harding has never met anyone quite like Lana. Rick knows that beautiful and whip-smart Lana is way out of his league. He definitely has never thought about asking her out on a date, especially not since she just basically became his landlord. Not that he'd ask anyone out on a date. Especially not this close to Christmas. The holidays have been hard ever since his wife left him, leaving Rick with his grumpy nephew, his even grumpier cat, and his grumpy-on-the-rare-occasion hedgehog. But, somehow, he suspects this year will be different.

And that was before Lana Montgomery mistook him for a moose.

Return to crazy, complicated, and cozy Moose Springs, Alaska for the holidays! See old friends, meet some new ones, hunt the elusive Santa Moose, go on the weirdest first date ever (So. Many. Squirrels...), laugh hard and fall harder for Lana and Rick's romance!

A definite plus for this book is learning more about Lana; we got the barely-scratching-the-surface side of Lana in "The Tourist Attraction", and saw her as Zoey saw her: this glamorous, confident, powerful, smart, privileged woman who has a soft side not many people get to see. Now, in "Mistletoe and Mr. Right", we get to see the deeper parts of Lana, the little girl who fell in love with Moose Springs and the people in it, the grown woman who still cares so deeply for the town that hates her, the pressure she constantly feels to be a Montgomery, and the friend who is so happy to see her friends happy. Lana doesn't let her guards down often, but when she does, the people who get to see her are special. Zoey is one, but Rick quickly becomes another. And he understands that need to have those guards up because he has his own. It's what's been protecting his heart and happiness since his high school sweetheart divorced him, and what he needs to do to survive and provide for himself and his ball of angst nephew, Diego. But, unfortunately for Rick, doing so means that he only sees his flaws, his imperfections, and holds himself back more than he actually helps himself. Good thing Lana has confidence to spare, right?

There's no place like Moose Springs for the holidays!

I think holiday romances are becoming one of my feel good reads. This is a stand alone book but second in a series. Set in a small resort town in Alaska. The locals are split on whether to like or hate the tourists and the money and jobs they bring. I liked the small town feel and the friendships found among the locals.

The story is told in third person. Lana to me was more interesting. She loves this town from some childhood experiences and wants to invest in the area with hopes of making money and growing the town. She is beyond wealthy but very much a working part of an international investment company run by her family. She is lonely and this town feel like a place she could call home. Rick runs a pool hall that only allows locals. His business is on the verge of failing. He also hasn't dated since his high school sweetheart and wife left him three years ago. Honestly other than he was a nice guy I didn't see what attracted her to him.

The relationship and dating is slow and takes time to develop which I liked. There is a lot of humor from a marauding moose who damages Christmas decorations to taxidermy squirrels. I thought their friends added to the story in positive ways. I appreciated that this is a romance without explicit scenes and only mild cursing.

I enjoyed my visit to Moose Springs and will look forward to other books in the series. If I had liked and understood why she was drawn to the the hero more it would have been 5 stars.

Cute holiday romance book with all the Christmas decorations and based in Alaska! Both Lana and Rick are such sweet and cute people and with their attraction right from the go makes them an adorable couple. Also the way Lana handles her business professionally in spite of her own insecurities, even with everyone trying to sabotage her was truly impressive.

It is a closed door romance but the chemistry between the pair is really good. Only issue I felt was the plot around Santa Moose could have been more interesting and had a better explanation at the end. With all alpha heroes in so many books, it was interesting to have Rick really calm and more with the next-door guy persona making him more relatable.

Overall, a light, fun and heartwarming read!

Lana Montgomery is a your typical all business career woman. She has her goals and her family has set them in her head since she could breathe! However, when she goes to Moose Springs it becomes her release valve spot and she wants to help out the towns economy. She first needs to show the town she belongs by tracking down the town’s menace moose!

Rick is a laid back business owner who doesn’t want tourists and he currently has the hots for Lana! Somehow in a roundabout way the two end up meeting in the craziest ways and this is a funny zany book that you will have chuckles throughout!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

Very cute and perfect for the holiday season. I loved the premise and especially the charm & character of Moose Springs. The pacing was a little slow for me and I got bored with the “corporate take over” trope but overall, I really enjoyed the magic of Mistletoe & Mr. Right!

I really enjoyed this Christmas romance! Bring on the Christmas Decorating!

We met Lana and Rick in The Tourist Attraction, and this book continues to increase my love for Alaska. It's been on my bucket list, and continues to climb to the top.

This was a great slow burn closed door romance. But don't fret, there was so much chemistry and mutual attraction (and kissing) between Lana and Rick, and their out of practice awkward dates were hilarious.

This book will not only have you falling in love with Alaska, and Lana and Rick's romance, but you will be cheering for Lana as she proves that she is an absolute strong and powerful female exec. Rick not only was quite swoony, but an complete gentleman. I love seeing that in romance books!

I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series! January cannot come soon enough!!

Lana Montgomery is everything the people of Moose Springs dislikes: she's rich, comes across a tad stuck-up, and oh yeah... she bought their entire town to build upscale condominiums to bring even more tourists to the already packed small town. But if Lana is anything it's determined. She refuses to let the town's collective unease towards her bring her down. She'll do anything to prove to them that she has their best interests at heart-- even if that means tracking down the elusive Santa Moose that stalks the town at night destroying any holiday decorations in its path. After accidentally shooting Rick Harding, the handsome pool hall owner, with a tranquilizer gun, Lana concedes to the fact that she may need a little help in her endeavor. With Rick on her side, Lana is sure the town will warm up to her, she just didn't count on Rick stirring up warm feelings inside herself as well.

Have you ever just fallen completely head over heels for a series? That's how I feel with the Moose Springs books. Morgenthaler has quickly stolen my heart with these characters and stories, and I'm so here for it. Thanks to the first book, The Tourist Attraction, we already have an idea about who Lana is and how the town isn't her biggest fan. She has all these big dreams for this small town that she loves so much, so it's a bit sad to see how little regard the people have for her. We also got a small taste of Rick, but this one dives more into his backstory and I enjoyed learning about him and all that he's been through. He and Lana balanced each other well, and I loved seeing their relationship grow. It was just so cute. There were so many funny moments in this (I mean, if the accidental tranq gun shooting wasn't enough, there's a scene at a creepy B&B filled with taxidermy squirrels), but also tons of heartwarming ones as well. Again, Morgenthaler mixes humor and heart in such a lovely way. Of course, it had its predictable moments, but I for one am so sold on this series, that it doesn't even phase me. If you're looking for a cute holiday read, pick this up.

This book was super cute. It's not quite as laugh out loud funny as The Tourist Attraction, but that's not a bad thing-Rick and Lana are more serious than Graham and Zoey and come with a lot more baggage. There are still plenty of hilarious moments, sometimes with squirrels!

If these books were real life Graham would exhaust me. Rick is who I'd really want- steady, quietly determined, protective but understands when you need to take care of yourself. Lana is a complicated bad ass who cares a lot more about people and the town than she initially seemed to. Seeing these two opposites attract and watching as their relationship grew from its hesitant start to the emotional HEA was a treat.

It's closed door so that's either a plus or a minus depending on your preferences. I prefer open door but this book is sweet enough to make up for the lack of heat. I can't wait to read Easton's story next!

I'm having trouble placing this book. Parts of it I loved and parts I really didn't.

My main issues:
- Lana's stilted way of speaking. I assume it was meant to show how old money and class she is but none of her family spoke that way and it just didn't work for me.
- Lana and Rick had no real conflict for over 90% of the book and then out of nowhere they had conflict. The other 90% was outside conflict -- Lana and her family, and Rick and his.
- The first half felt overly slow while the second half was action packed. I think part of it was the re-intro of moose springs as if the reader hadn't read The Tourist Attraction. But the no-conflict insta-love into mutual-pining love story wasn't too exciting for me.

Over all, it was a cute read and enjoyed the small town bits but would have liked more consistent pacing and less stilted dialogue.

Mistletoe and Mr, Right was the perfect start to my Christmas romance season! Charming, with a well-done city girl x small town boy romance, the characters had me rooting for them! Sarah's writing is fun and light and the book felt like a comforting hug! I wish I'd read The Tourist Attraction before this one though, I felt like the book had A LOT of references to the events of that book! Which is fair, and I'm excited to explore Sarah's backlist!

3.75 stars

The first two installments in this series have given me exactly what I needed and expected based on the covers and synopses: charming, predictable romance in a pretty great setting. I enjoyed this one even more than its predecessor.

The characters are generally likeable. Rick is a little too perfect here; he's been hurt, he has a huge heart, he loves animals and anyone who needs caretaking, and he puts up with ALL of the nonsense. Lana is a fairly career-driven individual, though there's a little too much "Montgomerys do" and "Montgomerys don't," which at times takes away from her choices. Her most horrific quality by far is an aggressive use of the word "dearest." I know you think she's 80. If she were, I'd be okay with this quirk. There was a similar situation for me in the first book with the repetition of a word that also totally distracted me. My #1 hope for the third book is that somehow, the characters manage to escape another awful tag line or gimmicky moniker. It's really all I want. Some diversity would be an added bonus, but one step at a time.

Overall, this is a straightforward romance between two characters who seem to really appreciate the opportunity, and I enjoyed reading about it.

After recently reading The Tourist Attraction, I was very excited to be approved for Mistletoe and Mr. Right. If you've read the first book (which you don't really NEED to do, it just helps & gives background), this book covers Lana and her adventures into trying to save Moose Springs by doing exactly what the locals don't want to have happen - increasing tourists in the area. While she does this, she begins to fall in love with the very quiet but very handsome Rick, who runs a bar in Moose Springs and who blushes whenever Lana looks at him. Rick is a local, living a small town life.

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the first book. I enjoyed the consistency within the dramatic points where the female does something fairly illegal to the male & hijinks ensue. I thought the Santa Moose plot line was hysterical, and I truly enjoyed the depth that Lana's character was given. She wasn't the typical rich, party girl in the first book, but she also wasn't given much attention or personality. In this book you really get to see how she feels about her family, the business, and the town.

I wish the Santa Moose has a more distinct ending. That plot line truly fell flat. I wish Rick had more of a personality. Outside of being a genuinely nice guy, there wasn't much given to him at all. Even from his POV the thoughts you're privy to are just so surface level. Lastly, the ending was way too forced and rushed. The pacing of this book was all off for me. For these reasons, I enjoyed this first more, but I will be reading the third when it comes out!

Overall, a cute, Christmassy story coming out in the Fall. Go check it out!
