Sadly this book just was not for me. This sat on my kindle for quite some time - twice I have attempted to read and twice I did not finish.

Thankyou for the opportunity but I will not be providing feedback on any commercial sites for this book.

The main character is a famous author in her twilight years with a patchy memory....dementia looming? Her husband
Connor, Julianna’s husband is murdered in their home and nobody can figure out how the murderer could have entered the house without waking the entire household, including a dog.
Luckily her daughter is around and uncovers a variety of things going on in the locality that her mother is unaware of. There are lots of snippets throughout the book that help you decide who did the deed, unfortunately there are so many of them you'll end up accusing everyone right until the end.
Very enjoyable book.

So Murder, Forgotten wasn't really the book for me. It has a great concept but this is such a slow-burn book and I kept losing interest. If you love books that are this way then I highly suggest this book!

Murder, Forgotten is a complex murder mystery featuring a best-selling murder mystery author. The premise is great — can or would a mystery author murder someone and get away with it? Or even remember it — Juliana is suffering from some form of dementia. Most of the story is told from the author’s daughter’s POV and has all the second-guessing and mixed feelings you would expect. I had my suspicions from the start, but this book has so many twists and unexpected turns that they often got thrown out the window. The cast of characters are well-developed, you just don’t know whom to trust! 😉 Besides the puzzling mystery, Murder, Forgotten has a wonderful setting — actually two wonderful settings. The rugged coast of Scotland has a short-lived presence, but it made me want to jump on a plane! The warmer beach house setting makes up the bulk of the book and is a powerful presence as it represents the family dynamics.

Murder, Forgotten was all I could hope for in a murder mystery. It’s a great choice for a long weekend read.

Recommended.

Audience: Adults.

Are you looking for an engaging murder mystery? This just might be the book for you.

Set for the most part on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, the novel features a tight-knit community - yet one of them is a killer! Logan Arnette questions everything she previously assumed about her friends and neighbors, and this suspicion upsets her life and world view.

Featuring some interesting plot devices, the author surprised me on occasion, though several factors of the 'how' the murder was done seemed overly obvious to me. That didn't really mar my enjoyment of the read however, for the 'who' evaded me until the last pages.

I was riveted to "Murder, Forgotten" while reading it, and recommend it highly to all lovers of a good 'whodunit'.

4.5 stars rounded up

Quick, keeps you on the edge of your seat read! Author Julianne Burke has memory issues and after her husband Connor is murdered it only gets worse. Did she kill him and forget? Through so many twists, turns and loops this book has you trying to figure out what really happened and second guessing it very thing you think. One of my favorite books of 2021!

The first book I have read by this author. A very good read, most descriptive and an excellent descriptive. A recommended read.

This book was truly unique and captured my interest right away. Julianna, a best selling mystery writer is slowly losing her memory. Her husband Connor is brutally murdered, and Julianna is determined to find out what happened to him and why, but trying to uncover the truth when fighting with her own mind proves to be difficult.

This book was a truly fantastic 'whodunnit' which really kept me guessing right until the end. I loved Julianna's character and really felt a connection towards her and wanted her to get the answers she so desperately needs.
The way the story is told has you second guessing everything. Is Julianna really losing her mind, or is she drifting off into a world in which she has created in her mind.

A fascinating, perfectly paced thriller. I loved this book!.

Julianna Burke is a murder mystery writer who is experiencing memory issues, cleverly indicated with an odd feeling of distance in the scenes from Julianna’s point of view. As the title implies, Julianna’s memory issues are a key and tragic plot point: Julianna’s husband, Connor, was murdered recently, but Julianna doesn’t remember.

Logan, Julianna’s daughter, returns to the family home to help her mother cope with Connor’s death. The police don’t seem to getting anywhere in the murder investigation, but Logan finds some information that could help … even if she doesn’t like where that information is pointing.

One of the challenges of reading a mystery novel is always seeing if I can work out whodunit. With Murder, Forgotten I was on the right track in terms of who, but didn’t know why. That ended up being a little convoluted, perhaps because there were a lot of characters and relationships to keep track of. That’s also a key point in a good murder mystery. After all, there have to be several possible evildoers, and Murder, Forgotten had a strong cast of characters, many of whom had motive or opportunity.

There were some writing oddities which annoyed me a little, such as the creative dialogue tags (she thought peevishly), the slips into omniscient point of view (I’m not a fan), and the fact that one factoid was dropped in so often that it was obvious that it was going to be Very Important (and it was).

Otherwise, a solid mystery.

From the moment I read the synopsis of this book, I knew I had to read it. The premise is fascinating and the twists and turns kept me guessing until the end. Be warned this book has a large cast of characters and I found myself getting them confused at times. But for this, it would be a 4 star for me.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in return for my honest feedback. This may be my first read by this author but it won't be my last.

Murder, Forgotten is the latest release by author Deb Richardson-Moore, a stand-alone murder mystery suspense, and my first taste of this author.

The novel, told in the third-person, takes us immediately to Fife in Scotland where we follow Julianna in the aftermath of her husband's murder; the narration then switches to Sullivan's Island in South Carolina where we join Julianna's daughter, Logan, and where the investigation into the murder is taking place. The author brings the locations vibrantly to life, showing a true love for them. The story is divided into three parts and the chapters continue to alternate between Julianna's and Logan's perspectives as they try to make sense of recent events and the many conundra surrounding them.

The author also gives us a peek into the mind of the mystery writer and the processes it entails, including the art of misdirection, which I enjoyed, especially as I found them reflected in the book itself. Questions about human motivations, greed, adultery, parenthood, bereavement, and illness are also present throughout, as are deceit and subterfuge. This is a clean read; be aware that it does talk about suicide.

I really liked the concept of this book and really wanted it to capture me and be a page turner, but, unfortunately, although well written, I found the pace a bit slow, with several concepts repeating time and again, but not moving forward. I felt that, despite a foreboding and imminent sense of danger, major aspects that surfaced, and which should have been pivotal, were not explored timely, and all main characters seemed very laid back. Even the police investigation did not appear to be particularly thorough. Some events were never explained, even though later revelations would have warranted further prodding; one in particular could very easily have been explored, in fact, it should have been as part of the investigation.

We were also quickly introduced to a growing number of peripheral characters that would weave in and out of the story, but I felt this was mainly done to leave open many paths to a possible culprit rather than being fully explored sub-plots. The sheer number of similar neighbours meant that they were all kind of muddled in my head and as I went on and worked out the rough motive and then who had done it, by that point I could not remember which character I was thinking of and was too lazy to look back to remind myself.

Overall it was an entertaining story, with twists and turns to keep you guessing, however, unlike many others, I failed to be fully engaged by it. Having said that, I would definitely give this author another try.

What a well written and well paced mystery! First novel I've read from this author but not my last. I had chosen my suspect near the beginning but through all of the twists and turns doubted I was right, I added and subtracted suspects the entire time only to discover my first guess was, in fact, correct! I haven't had so much fun reading a mystery in years. This is such an original plot. I will be recommending this book to everyone... Or maybe not quite everyone. This will be a great holiday gift for a few mystery lovers on my list. They'll have to wait a couple of months to find out how great this book is. Read it, you'll be glad you did.

Murder, Forgotten by Deb Richardson-Moore

Julianne Burke, bestselling mystery novelist, has.a Secret that those closest to her are hiding from the world. Julianna is losing her memory, and with it her powerful gift for storytelling. She is also desperate to find out what happened to her husband.

Excellent book. A great mystery novel with very deep characters and many suspects. I didn’t guess the right suspect until almost the end. I look forward to more of her books. I highly recommend this book.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending an advanced reader’s copy for review.

Murder, Forgotten is an engrossing thriller set in South Carolina. Julianna is a hugely successful author of several crime thriller novels. When her husband is found murdered in her study, nobody know who killed him, especially Julianna who seems to be suffering with severe memory issues.
This novel is set within a close nit community where everyone becomes a suspect. It kept me guessing throughout, and is jam packed with interesting and believable characters. If a writer can make you feel strong emotions within their work, they are definitely doing something right and I deeply disliked some of the people within this book.
I will definitely be looking out for more novels from this author and can highly recommend this book.

In Murder, Forgotten, author Deb Richardson-Moore transports the reader to Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, and a short jump across the pond to Crail, Scotland, for an intriguing southern murder mystery story that will keep the reader guessing and turning the pages.

Julianna Burke is a best-selling murder mystery author, who has been experiencing a gradual memory loss that leaves her writing career in jeopardy. When Julianna's husband Connor is murdered in their home office while neither Julianna or assistant Margot Riley heard anything that occurred, the wheels are set in motion to try and figure out what really happened, and if Julianna's writing plot style and progressive memory loss had any part in it.

As Julianna struggles to make sense of her husband's murder and the progression of her memory loss, daughter Logan delves into the murder investigation, and the more information Logan discovers, the more danger, potential motives, and suspects are added to the list, and one of them is determined to stop Julianna and Logan before they reveal the truth of Connor's death at any cost.

Author Deb Richardson-Moore weaves a fast-paced and suspenseful tale written in the third person narrative that alternates between Julianna and Logan as they try to uncover the truth behind the death of Julianna's husband, Connor Burke.

I loved reading this intriguing murder mystery. The reader will be easily drawn into this richly descriptive plot that will keep them guessing as family secrets, a growing list of possible suspects, motives, and clues are uncovered. You can't help but feel for Julianna as she struggles with her memory loss, it is so devastating and heartbreaking. I loved how Logan steps in to investigate her step-father's murder, I was kept guessing as the person and reason behind the murder mystery was slowly revealed.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I enjoyed the rich description of the eastern coast of Scotland, and the low country setting of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina. I have property in Calabash, North Carolina, and I have been fortunate enough to know that the beautiful low country locales are truly worth the visit.

Murder, Forgotten has enough drama, tension, action, dark secrets, intrigue, and unexpected twists and turns that will take the reader on one heck of a thrilling roller coaster ride.

This book is dark, devastating, heartbreaking and one of the best things I have read in recent times. Brilliantly thought out plot and characters. An excellent read.

A man killed. A woman's sanity questioned...

I'm still reeling from this one. Murder, Forgotten started off so quietly. Just a lady staying at her vacation house trying to rest as as she can't seem to remember from day to day that her husband is dead. And just her adult daughter trying to come to grips with her stepfather's death and her mother's mental decline.

Just a quiet heart-tugging story... Yeah, well, it didn't stay that way. Next thing you know I'm suspecting everyone of ulterior motives and murder, from the woman's son to the next door neighbor to the local pastor! Seriously, author Deb Richardson-Moore led me on such a wild goose chase I hardly knew what end was up! And yet each clue was intentionally laid out, building on the previous one, and all leading to the final frantic and spine-tingling showdown with a killer. When the author dropped a shocker bombshell about ¾ of the way through, well, I was shocked all right, and shaken. It was a gutsy move on her part but well played and it left you questioning pretty much everything.

Depending on how you feel about the subjects, the following content may be an issue for you. Some language. The characters all drink like fish and more than one get sloshed. And there is some open discussion, not graphic, of cheating and sexual affairs between several characters.

Of the two books that I've read by Deb Richardson-Moore Murder, Forgotten is by far my favorite. Despite the, in my opinion, rather excessive alcohol consumption I enjoyed the book quite a bit. The psychological elements, the complete questioning of whether a main character might actually be the killer, was very very good. I also loved the generational aspects to the story with both mother and daughter trying to solve the mystery. Oh, and it's worth reading this book just for the exquisite setting, South Carolina's Sullivan's Island, alone.

(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

This was an excellent book, and definitely one that was different than most mysteries. Great characters, a compelling tale, and full of mystery, this novel really grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me coming back for more! I fell in love with the characters early into the book. The mystery surrounding the murder was one that kept you guessing…wondering…pondering. If you enjoy mysteries, this is definitely one you need to grab!
