Fairies, I do love a good fairy book. This one was a very nice story. I liked the Nola very much. I want to believe I can see fairies too. I would love them to help me when I need it and I hope I could help them too. We could be great friends. I felt a part of this world drew me in and I enjoyed it. *This book was given to me for free at my request from Netgalley and I provided this voluntary review.*

My rating is a reflection on my personal enjoyment of the book. It is well written with excellent pacing, and I feel it would appeal to a younger reader. I didn't connect to the characters, it felt like there was limited character development. It read like the author was following a set template for young adult fantasy. The story felt like many others I read before. There was nothing new.

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.5 stars.

A modern fairytale that shows the reader extremism is negative no matter which side you take; it never leads to improvements, that fate doesn't exist in the sense that nothing is determined, everything is rather chosen by those involved and that this love rules the world. This kept me needing to know what would come next.

I entered into the story thinking it would be like most young adult fantasy I've read; aka good fairies, an evil character (either fae or human), a saviour; everyone either pure or evil. Don't get me wrong, I actually found these elements in the book, but they were certainly not the only ones.

There were characters that simply allowed the popular/strong one to lead them into doing the wrong thing and make all the incorrect decisions, being too late when they realised they had not even chosen for themselves. Does this ring a bell? Secondary school is full of these situations that, in many occasions, include rather tragic events.

Yet, none of these I found to be the main focus. I strongly believe love is the key to existance itself. This is the force that, pure or transformed in other feelings, represents the core of motivation. We can still change the world if we reach the understanding that acceptance, giving and patience consitute love and are the only way in which humanity may not end this planet.

This work is classified as Young Adult, but I believe it is in between that and being a Middle Grade except for just a couple of comments.

If you like fantasy, fairies and morals, this is definitely for you.

I only managed to read a little of this before it was archived . I found it a little hard to get into with a lot of backstory that dragged . I tried to give the book the benefit of the doubt as it is aimed at young teenagers , but even then I found it at times to be a little condescending. It had some nice moments (from what I managed to read) and it did have promise , I don’t think I will rush to buy the full version.

I enjoyed this book. It was a really quick read and the story was fast paced making it easy to get through. I like both of the MC’s and other characters introduced and look forward to learning more about them in the following books. The writing in general was very YA and although I typically prefer more mature books, for some reason this book still worked for me. All in all, I’m rating this a 4/5*.

A decent start to a new series.
I do wish this had started further back in the timeline.
More information about how things were before Kelty had become an outcast and prior to Nola drinking the grey liquid would have been nice.
I look forward to seeing where Ms. Rose takes this series.
Thanks goes to NetGalley, Booksprout and Allison Rose Creations for my DRC.

This is a faery novel about saving the Earth. I started to read it after being intrigued by the prequels. I was thinking it would be a nice light(ish) read. And in many ways it is. Books like this are what the world needs more of in these times of uncertainty.

This book is not bogged down by too much telling instead of showing, yet there is far too much repetition. It comes across as condescending - even towards the teens/tweens it seems to be marketed to, because if they come to expect a lot of repetition in the books they read, they may not develop their memories well. I realize this is probably not how the author meant it to come across, but that is just my impression.

One of the biggest cases of repetition is this: I lost count of how many times the narrator told us the same things about the Night and Day courts - sometimes word for word. I tried to tell myself not to be impatient, but I kept getting bored and having trouble paying attention, despite the fact that this is just the type of book I enjoy most. I don't like having to do this, but I read the first nine chapters and was starting to get annoyed, so I'm not continuing. Maybe I will try this book again in the future.

People who have a poor memory and enjoy fairytales will probably love this.

All life begins with Ara,a life force. It's a form of magic. The faeries have created their own world. Only the outcasts venture to human world. Kelty has become a outcast. Nola, is a human with the ability to see faeries.

A unique story line that builds the relationship between a human girl and a fairy while they try to rescue the human's community. What they do not know is the same magic that has banished the fairy is at work to destroy the humans. This is a young adult book that is appropriate for any age that can follow a somewhat complex story line. It is a well thought out story with well defined characters and interactions. An enjoyable read that leaves me thinking there will be another book.

This is an unusual YA series about Nola a somewhat lonely human girl and Kelty a Faerie who was tricked and ended up banished to the Human realm. Nola was previously forced to drink a strange grey substance by her fathers intern and as this book begins she’s started to realise that things will never be the same for her again. Kelty neither trusts nor likes the Humans but cannot deny that Nola is persistent in trying to get her help. When an old enemy appears in the wood where Kelty now lives she quickly realises that perhaps she should work with Nola after all !
I really liked the story here and the Faeries introduced are very intriguing. The author keeps her readers guessing about their motives and even as this ended there was still a huge question to be answered . Alas as much as I enjoyed the story and the central characters I just didn’t feel the humans around Nola were made to feel real or even that interesting which sadly detracted my interest somewhat . I can only hope that the sequel will showcase motives and enable readers to truly be fully engaged with all the protagonists.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Waaaaay too much boring backstory in the first few chapters... doesn't really get going until chapter 12 which is 56 pages of boredom.

There could be a lot more speech (or at least thoughts) by the main character to explain the things that are just boring text right now. It's a reasonable book so far, but there is already a lot that can be improved which is on the verge of another star being knocked off, but I'm in a reasonable mood this afternoon so it's at 3.5 stars instead of 3 right now ;-)

Chapter 14 is a lot better, so I'm gonna promote it back to the 4 stars again. Chapter 15 was good too... the author is really getting into her story now, which is great.

I'm really enjoying the novel now... I've read ten chapters without stopping to review any of them lol Still a solid 4 stars... would have been the full 5 if it hadn't been for the first few chapters!

What a great ending! If you can forgive the first few chapters this is a great read when the author gets into her stride. A solid 4 stars before I head to bed.
