3 stars — gripping premise with dark twists, but didn’t fully develop its emotional punch.”

Guilty Photographs sets the stage for a chilling thriller—mysterious images, buried secrets, and a protagonist pulled into a dangerous web of lies. The concept is compelling, with just the right amount of psychological suspense to keep you guessing. There’s a constant undercurrent of tension, and the story explores guilt, grief, and the haunting weight of the past.

The atmosphere is well-crafted, and the pacing moves steadily, but I found myself wanting more depth from the characters and a bit more emotional resonance behind the plot twists. The story had gripping moments, but some of the reveals felt rushed or predictable.

That said, it’s a solid, dark read for fans of crime fiction and psychological thrillers with a moody edge. It kept me interested, even if it didn’t quite leave a lasting impression.

Our upbringing is the main influence to our future success or failure in life! In crisis, do any of us really know what desperate measures we would be willing to undertake or where our choices will lead us?

Barbara grew up in a tough neighbourhood; a young school girl now alone and desperate and trying to survive after her mother died. Barbara was tough and clearly understood that there was no one to help her as in this neighbourhood everyone demanded payment.

Barbara had dreams of a better life and was looking for an opportunity to get out.

A raw graphic insight for reflection; and maybe appreciation for our own life circumstances.

This is a very hard book to read. It had me holding my breath all the way. Some parts were almost to hard. I didn’t finish it but it was not because it was a bad book. It was just a hard for me read.
I had to put it down several times and finally just decided to wait on finishing it. It’s good but emotional, graphic.
Thank you to #NetGalley, #S.I.Taylor for this ARC. I’m sorry I just could not finish it. I’m hoping I can get back to it and be able to read more.

Guilty Photographs is a story of crime, struggle, passion and obsession. It was truly the story for those "who have struggled, fell off the right path but eventually found it again."

Barbara is an unlikely heroine who you cant help but feel endeared toward. Plagued by her past she fights for a better future. She bravely overcomes each obstacle that is thrown at her. This novel is ripe with lies and betrayal, but the camera will expose the truth. If Guilty Photographs teaches us anything it is to be careful in who you place your trust.

This novel contains adult language, graphic violence, and sexual encounters. Some scenes were really hard to read and could be triggering to those who have experienced sexual trauma. Overall Guilty Photographs was very well written. All the characters are well developed and the story line flows well.

I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and author S.I. Taylor for providing me with an ARC of this novel!

Guilty Photographs reminded me of Mary Burton's writing (which I love), so I was sucked in from page one on. I felt so twisted up in this story; it was phenomenal. I loved seeing everything from so many different angles! The attention to detail was stunning, and provided for me a story that I felt like I was living in. The main character Barbara is relatable and all of the other characters are fully developed. You'll feel a ton of emotions while reading this, and you also won't see the huge twist coming!

Thank you again to those named above for the chance to read and review this novel!
