This was my first book from Lisa Jewell and the oldest book in my NetGalley queue. It was a good one, and considering the time it was released, very timely, in terms of the topics and tones of the book. The chapters are short and told from the viewpoints of the various characters. Because the chapters are so short, you don’t really get a lot of character development or depth to them, but it still works for this one because the story moves and doesn’t stall at any point. All in all, it was a very good introduction to the author's work and allowed me to add a few more books to my neverending TBR pile.

I know before starting this book that I would be in for a very good moment of reading because the author is Lisa Jewell. I even stay late at night so I could read this gem. Like alway I could relate to the characters . The suspense was intense and perfect. I just loved Sapphyre. Lisa jewell is just a marvelous writer! And I don’t think anybody would not like this book if you like a good suspense.

This has been one of my favorite Lisa Jewell books to date. It was strange and creepy, and full of unexpected moments.

I was so intruiged right from the beginning and although my attention wavered in the middle a bit, overall I think this was a fantastic read.

This novel was such a thrilling and interesting mystery, I found myself really loving the format and the story.

The characters in this novel aren't very likeable but that is pretty common for novels that are in the mystery/thriller genre for me. I never end up loving the characters because they all tend to have very unique decision making skills (unique = bad).

I ended up listening to this on audio and found myself wanting to continue driving or sitting in my car just so I could see what happens next. It was so intriguing, especially being able to follow multiple perspectives as well as multiple timelines.

I do have to admit I didn't see the ending coming. It was totally out of left field and I do kind of wish that my guess was correct because I think that would have been a shocking ending, but I am not unhappy with the ending. A lot of loose ties were tied up and I was satisfied with how all the characters ended up.

I did want to talk a bit about the story of what happened to Owen. It was sickening to see how women immediately assumed this man was out to get them, and this ultimately lead to him being accused of a crime he didn't commit. I am so happy with how the author brought up this issue as well as how she was able to get across the experience from the womens point of view as well. Being a woman in today's world is scary and sometimes it's difficult to let your guard down even if the man you meet is decent. I appreciate the conclusion brought at the end of the book and I think this book is important to read even just to see that storyline.

3.5 rounded up Oh Lisa Jewell your books suck me in but always kind of land flat for me. This one is probably my Favorite I’ve read of hers so far but it’s hard when you know the twist early on. I find her writing a bit predictable which might be why they sometimes fall flat.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Invisible Girl - Lisa Jewell

This book is told from multiple POV’s and I thoroughly enjoyed each one! Even without seeing who’s perspective we were with at the beginning of each chapter, they were all so distinct it was very easy to tell who’s perspective we were seeing from! This is something I absolutely love from a thriller when it’s well done (and in this case, it was!)

As far as a thriller plot goes for me it was honestly very mediocre (I think it was the ending that made me go eh, meh), but it is Jewell’s ultra-devourable writing style that knocked this up to four stars for me! Her writing is seriously SO addictive and it makes her books incredible hard to put down!

I’m not one who would normally advocate for a sequel to a thriller, but I would absolutely eat up a book from Roan’s perspective 😱

* This book deals with a lot of heavy themes, please look into them before reading.

In true Lisa Jewell fashion, the reader is given another thrilling read that will keep them on their toes. The book was written from multiple perspectives, which was confusing at first, but eventually you start to understand how they go together.

Read with an open mind, and be prepared to have your mind thinking the book is going one way, and then throws something else at you which makes you go a different direction. In the end in makes sense though!

The ending doesn't leave you feeling completely satisfied, but in a good way? It's hard to explain but that's what you get with Jewell's writing!

A solid thriller! Nothing to write home about, however, the plot was well-executed and interesting. Plus, the toxic masculinity theme was very timely.

This was an interesting story. I did like how fast the plot moved and the different viewpoint. I did find them hard to put together or connect, especially at the beginning. The incel discussions were very hard for me to read and almost caused me to put down the book all together. I was interested in where the story was going though, so I continued, and was very disappointed with how random and unconnected the ending was in the end. I felt like it was just put there as an ending and the rest of the plot didn't lead there was much as I normally like.

Lisa Jewell weaves an intricate path through a cast of characters and goes from past to present to past to present to keep you on your toes. I couldn't stop reading because I just had to find out what happened to Saffyre. In typical form, you wonder who is guilty and who is truly innocent.

Lisa Jewell keeps hitting home runs!

If you love Jewell's books, you'll love this too.
If you don't like her psychological thrillers, then this one will probably not be for you either.

I read this book in a couple sittings. I kept turning the pages.
There are quite a few points of view and characters, but I was able to keep them all straight.

This was an enjoyable creepy and satisfying read.

I recently finished Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell and O!M!G!😲 This booooook! I knew it’d be good, because everything she writes is amazing. I also remember Lisa telling me about it last year when I interview her at KPL, and have been looking forward to it ever since🙌

Before we get too far into this review, I’ll mention there are quite a few trigger/content warnings: sexual assault, rape, pedophilia, and self harm.

Invisible Girl follows many different characters. We have the Four family: Cate and her husband Roan (a child psychologist), and their two children. Across the street lives Owen, a college instructor recently laid off due to allegations of sexual misconduct. And finally, Saffyre, a missing girl, and former patient of Roan. Yes, it’s a lot of characters and can be difficult to keep track of at times, but they all come together in a way that only Lisa Jewell can pull off!

In their small neighborhood, there have been multiple reports of sexual assaults. Cate is starting to question why they moved there, but Roan doesn’t want to talk about it. She’s worried about their children, and gets even more upset when she finds out their neighbor, Owen, has been arrested. Was he the one attacking women?

And to make matters worse, she thinks her husband is having an affair. When a Valentine’s Day card shows up for him, she gets even more suspicious, and thinks the impossible: everything that’s been happening somehow leads back to him and his former patient, Saffyre.

The book explores themes of sexual assault and incels in a way I’ve never seen done before in a fictional story. It’s a lot to read, and is difficult at times, but I thought it was handled well.

There are so many twists and turns, and the ending will leave you SCREAMING😱 If you’ve read this one already, please let me know so we can discuss.

Thank you so much Simon & Schuster Canada for a digital copy of this book via NetGalley. Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell is out now, and can be purchased wherever books are sold.

As you weave through the twists of Lisa Jewell’s newest novel, you will discover that our three main characters — Owen, Saffyre, and Cate — are each doubting their self-identity. Unbeknownst to them, their lives intermingle; Saffrye is the patient of Cate’s husband and Owen lives across the street from Cate. They run parallel to each other until Saffrye suddenly disappears. Who was the last person to see her alive?

This was my second book from Lisa Jewell and I actually thought that this one was much more entertaining. The plot, the twists and the turns, and the characters were both gripping and believable. Sometimes when I read thrillers, the events that unfold are too far-fetched, however, this one felt as though it was something that could possibly happen in real life. Everyone has hidden skeletons in their closets and oftentimes the guilty are walking innocently in the streets, which is exactly what Jewell highlights here. There were moments in my reading process where I felt annoyed and wanted more info and more details, but I hung on to the addictive thread that was woven and I’m glad that I did. My favourite part was the ending and how it clued up quite nicely after what could be defined as a dark and disturbing read.

A huge thank you to Simon and Schuster Canada and netgalley for sending me this review copy. Lisa Jewell is an auto buy thriller author for me. I love her books and writing style and this was a great read for me. Short, exciting chapters kept me very intrigued.

This book does come with some trigger warnings, the most crucial being sexual assault. It's a pretty heavy theme in the book, so be aware of that going in.

This story had a cast of characters, all flawed. There was a 17 year old girl named Saffyre, a creepy loner male and a therapist along with his wife and two children. The therapist used to treat Saffyre, and she formed a sort of weird obsession with him. Then she just happens to go missing in his neighborhood, on his street no less. But what exactly happened? That's for the reader to figure out! Told through multiple pov's, we follow each character through the story to piece everything together. I thought the ending was well done and I flew through this one! A real page turner and exactly what I would expect from Lisa Jewell!

While others have said this book is slow, I didn’t feel the way. Maybe it’s because I read along with the audiobook (which was very well done), but I was interested right from the beginning in the plot. Sapphyre’s storyline was particularly interesting, given her complicated relationship with her therapist, Roan Fours. I wasn’t very interested in his wife’s story arc, although she was definitely a good reflective character — only through knowing her could we see how awful Roan is. Owen’s storyline was my least favourite. It felt like Jewell wanted us to be sympathetic toward him and hate him at the same time. This, combined with his all too convenient bouts of memory loss, tried to paint him as an unreliable narrator, but it was just ineffective. I knew I could *trust* what he was saying while still having a distaste for his character, and his relevance to the plot was not strong enough to warrant everything we had to learn about his weird behaviour. Regardless of Owen, I still did like the plot and I plowed through the story. I loved Sapphyre and connected with her, so I obviously wanted to know what happened to her. It would have been a four star read for me, but the ending left me boggled. What was the point in including all these other characters when the murderer was the person she was hunting the entire time anyway? It takes all the fun out of a mystery. Three stars for Sapphyre but not for much else.
