Too Good to be True was a decent read. The storyline was interesting if not a bit predictable. I wanted to confirm my guesses. I got some right and I got some wrong.

Each character had their own flaws and redeeming qualities that had me liking and disliking them equally at times throughout the story. Part I was far more enjoyable than Part II. I feel like it puttered out and honestly I wasn’t thrilled with the ending.

This was an entertaining read! Not at all believable and overall kind of sad, but a fun one to read with a couple shocking twists. I was wholly entertained and couldn’t put the book down until about the 60% mark. Then it just got to be too much and I struggled to finish it. The twists were all shocking and I was totally surprised! Overall, an entertaining read but one that lost it’s grip on me. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! This book is so crazy good!!!!!!!! I love the way its told from 3 POV's and how the author kept each POV straight. It didn't confuse you or mess you up at all . This book will throw curveball after curveball & you won't stop reading until the end!!!!!!! I highly recommend this amazing thriller to everybody. If you're a fan of thrillers with unreliable narrators, then this is the book for you. The plot seems simple enough, but then you start to realize that not everyone is telling the truth and as POVs switch back and forth, it becomes harder to tell who is lying. Overall, a fun read with some interesting plot twists.

💍As I unfortunately pushed through the first part of Carola Lovering’s upcoming novel “Too Good To Be True,” I noticed I was losing interest in the book before I could put a dent in it. Due to the layout of the book where you hear three individuals side of the story on what happened: one set in the past, another in the present, and another set in the past/present; I found myself struggling to stay focused on current events, followed along with past events and future events. Several times I had to actually scroll through the previous chapters to understand a section of the story I was currently reading. But once I finished part one of the book, and merged into part two; before I even finished the first chapter of part two, my heart literally fell from my chest and I did everything I could not to scream. The unexpected twist will wake you up and you will not want to put the book down. It got to the point where I was up late hours just to get closer to the end of the book. The second part of the book is mind blowing and the plot twist will cause you to rethink everything you just read. Also, I’m glad the author incorporated mental health with one of her characters, as I feel this is a topic which needs extreme awareness. I feel “Too Good to Be True” is worth the read, especially for those who enjoy a book that keeps you questioning the chain of events.💍

Loved this book! It was fun in a guilty pleasure way. It was told from the POV of 3 different characters. They also added to the story. The side characters were also entertaining. The story was fast paced and hard to out down. I read late into the night. The only reason it wasn't a 5 star read for me was because the ending. For me it didn't match the intensity/evilness of the rest of the story. This was the first time I have read this author, but it won't be the last!

This was a really great mystery - some other genres listed on GoodReads are thriller and psychological suspense, but usually books with these descriptions can be borderline scary to me. This one was not; however, it was definitely a page turner. I’m not sure if it was predictable or if I was just that good that I put some of the pieces together ahead of them being revealed.

This book is definitely in the suspense genre, but is different from the typical suspense book. I don’t want to say more than that because I read a few reviews that gave away too much of the story by talking about it. It is much better to go into this one with less information.
The story is told from three POVs. Some of the narration is unreliable which makes for an interesting read. The story flows really well and keeps you wanting to read. A lot of it isn’t as exciting as other suspense books I’ve read which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. Again, I think the less said about the premise, the better!

The book has 3 distinct voices. There is sweet Skye who while appearing to have it all suffers from OCD that has made having a relationship nearly impossible. Burke, the good looking older man who appears to sweep Skye off her feet in a whirlwind romance that is moving very fast. Then there is Heather, Burke’s wife! Yes, I said it, Burke has a wife! Not only do all 3 tell part of the story but they all have different timelines but I promise it is not difficult to keep up. Although I did early on figure out how they were all connected that was not the only surprise and mystery in the book. This book takes you through both Skye and Burke’s relationship and Burke and Heather’s relationship and how they got to the point of no return.

I really enjoyed this book. It had a few twists I never saw coming. I could not put it down! It is a must read for everyone! What started out as a love triangle...... WOW!

This was a very twisty thriller - addictive and super entertaining! I won't say it is predictable, but there were definitely some clues I picked up on that led me to have a pretty educated guess on what the major twist was. It was definitely a fun, fast-paced, read-in-a-day thriller! Not only was it entertaining, it was also very well-written between 3 point of views and 2 timelines.

Too Good to be True follows Skye Starling, a young woman overjoyed to have finally found the love of her life, after having several relationships ruined by her OCD. What she doesn’t know is that her new love is not who he seems to be.

I saw thriller in the book description and stopped reading. I was in the mood for a thriller, but didn’t want to have any hints of what was to come. Unfortunately, the first half of this book was lacking in thrills. We meet a young woman (newly engaged), her fiance, and get flashbacks of a woman who was married to the fiance at the time of the flashbacks. From the beginning, there is a clear sense that they young woman is going to be screwed over. What is missing is any sense of tension or danger. Yes, she is at risk of a broken heart, but thrillers threaten more than just the heart.

Around the midpoint, there is a turn in the story that changes what is at stake, and shifts the risk to a different character. This turn also shifts the story from one that seems to be headed toward some sort of suspense-style ending to what is supposed to be a love story.

I could not get on board with the suggested love story. While Skye forgives her love of all his wrong-doings, I was not willing to accept that he just made some mistakes, that he truly loved her, and that they would have a beautiful happily ever after.

The use of mental illness in the story (the main character suffers from OCD) also did not set well with me. In particular, the way it interacted with plot points in the story felt very off.

Ultimately, the labels I saw attached to this novel before led me to expect a very different book than what was delivered. For me, this novel, and the attempt at a love story it contains, was not Too Good to be True.

This one reeled me in right away and kept me engaged for much of it. Three narrators reveal the background from different perspectives...which kept it interesting. Loved the way some of it was told via diary entries. There are several twists which were very surprising. Both Heather and Skye had traumatic incidents in their early teen years which scarred their lives in very different ways. So appreciated Carola Lovering’s seeming understanding of compulsions and the way she portrayed it throughout the story. Having worked with children with similar compulsions, they can certainly negatively impact lives as they are so misunderstood. WOW! Just WOW! If you love a good TWISTED psychological thriller, then you need to read this book!

Two quotes I made note of that really struck a chord in me:

“ But the irony in unbearable things is that they actually are bearable. They force you to endure what you cannot comprehend enduring. They demand that you sit in unimaginable pain.”

“As long as I didn’t stop knocking, as long as I stayed on my side of the door, my mother wouldn’t die. Our lucky number eight was keeping her alive.”

I can’t even tell you how many times that I thought i knew exactly what was going on, but nope... I was wrong. Then I would think “what IS going on?!” The cycle repeated itself over and over again, leaving me utterly baffled, yet so completely intrigued and hooked.

Even though I picked up on the twists very early in, this revenge thriller held my attention. I remained engaged throughout, wondering how it would resolve. Unfortunately, I think it fizzled at the end, and on further thought, more things along the way bothered me. Several key parts of the plot were wholly unrealistic, and stretched believability. The narration flipped between three different characters, with some sections in a diary format. I liked the varying perspectives, but in the second half, the diary chapters were pure info dump. I do think the author did a nice job portraying a main character with severe OCD, showing the challenges of living with mental illness. I liked the theme of characters striving to make a better life and rise up from childhood traumas. I also always enjoy a lesson on how oversharing on social media can have dire consequences.
I think seasoned thriller readers will see the flaws in this one, but I would still say give it a chance.

This was a fun, fast read that was full of twists, turns, and unreliable narrators. It was told from multiple points of view with multiple timelines, which I love. While it was predictable, it was still very enjoyable. I found the character of Skye to be compelling and enjoyed her growth in the story. This is a good book for the beach, spring break or on a plane.

A captivating mystery with lots of twists and turns, this book keeps you on your toes! I found the story well-plotted and developed— the surprises are not just thrown in for shock value or the result of poor writing; every piece comes together in a cohesive storyline.

Too Good to Be True is entertaining and a quick read. Great for a quick escape.

I hate when twists are hyped. I get all excited, waiting for it with baited breath the whole book. I start each chapter wondering when it will hit. I was already imagining what it could be - breaking down all the ways this could twist. So the actual twist just...wasn't what I'd hoped.

Maybe it was because I found all of the characters unlikable. I don't need someone to like in a book to enjoy it, but I definitely want to feel pulled in so I can root for....something. In this case, once the bank transfer happened to shoulder shrugs, I was pretty done.

I can definitely see others liking this one more - and see the draw of a twist. It just wasn't for me.

A complex thriller that follows the love story of Skye (beautiful, wealthy, and smart), Burke (married, and using Skye for her family's money). and also Burkey's wife Heather (desperate to hold onto Burke and save their family financially). What kind of tangled web will Burke weave?

Told in three different perspectives, this twisted thriller will keep readers interested to the end. Which one is telling the truth: Burke, Skye or Heather? Is the truth always what you think it is? What an imagination this writer had! Recommended!
