Gripping, hard to put down novel about the twisted relationships between three people. The author provided a thoughtful portrayal of OCD, grief, and trauma. I didn't particularly love any of the characters as people but found them all to be nuanced and interesting. There were different timelines but instead of being confusing, it was all done in an easy to follow way that added tension to the central plot. I highly recommend this thriller and can't wait to read Lovering's next novel!

I really enjoyed how Lovering did multiple POV and gave the backstory between Heather and Burke. I thoroughly enjoyed the first half and the twist in the middle. However, I thought the second half was somewhat repetitive and I did NOT enjoy the ending at all.

Skylar is from a very wealthy family and has never been lucky in love due to having OCD that was brought on by her mothers death when she was eleven.

Skylar thinks she found the perfect man in Burke. After a fast courtship Burke purposes and Skylar is thrilled to say yes. Burke is older handsome and more mature than anyone she has ever dated. Shortly after the honeymoon Skylar finds letters Burke has written to his therapist. Burke is actually a married man using Skylar to get her money.

Heather is Burkes wife and they have been together since high school. Heather is the mastermind behind THE PLAN.

Great read and very suspenseful. Would recommend. Carol Lovering is a great story teller.

From the very first page to the very last page, I was totally involved in this novel.
The author wove a story so intriguing that I found myself surprised at every twist it took.
I couldn’t put it down.
I don’t want to give anything away, so I will stop here.
Don’t miss this!

I am a huge fan of this author and this book did not disappoint me! I love books with in reliable narrators and this definitely fit the bill. I was never sure who I could trust or what story I could believe. I found the book as a whole to be super satisfying. Must be willing to suspend belief in realistic situations! I finished this book in less than 24 hours.

Too Good to Be True by Carola Lovering is a thoroughly engrossing domestic thriller. Told from three different POVs that take you through several decades. I cheered on characters in one chapter and yelled and cursed them out the next. There are many thrilling dimensions to this story and it went in directions I didn’t anticipate. Great read - google recommend!!

Carols Lovering has hit the jackpot with this story. Her characters are skillfully developed and their relationships are complicated. The story told from three points of view gives the reader just enough information to form conclusions that may or may not be true at the time of the telling. I was surprised time after time as the story changed in ways I did not see coming. A satisfying read for anyone who likes psychological family drama.

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from St Martin's Press through NetGalley. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Thank you St. Martins Press and Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I loved it. Every time I put it down, I wanted to read more. The writing is great, the characters are great and the story is great. The way the book has three POVs, and different timelines allowed for a number of 'what the heck' surprises. I'm not sure how many other ways I can say how good this book is, Just read it!

PS - Near the end Skye calls Burke "Goose" - is that an error?

Too Good to Be True is one of the best domestic thrillers I’ve read this year, or the last five years probably. The pacing and writing is excellent and I could not put this book down, muttering one more chapters, one more chapter, and then I got to the BIG UNBELIEVABLE TWIST, and just kept going to the end. The three main characters were carefully constructed and we feel for them in one chapter and hate them in the next. Three POV’s and my head was spinning trying to figure it out. I didn’t. I could not tell which one was true. Seriously, one of the best!

Lots of great twists in this book about a young woman and her "perfect" husband. A definite page-turner with lots of memorable scenes. I had hoped for a different ending, which I didn't feel supported the main character's development. Still, I did fly through this book! And I look forward to reading anything else by the author.

Thanks to Netgalley for the arc to review.

Too Good to Be True had me hooked from the start til the very end! I finished it within a few days and it was definitely an emotional roller coaster ride. The length of the story is quite long compared to other mystery thriller, but it only allowed me to enjoy it longer. It's one of the best multi-layer thriller I have read in recent years!

I enjoyed Lovering’s first novel, Tell Me Lies...but I thought this one was even better! First off, I loved the way the story was woven together. Not only is it told from three perspectives, but they are in different formats and in different periods of time. It left me guessing what would happen all the way to the end. The book also really makes you consider how much our childhood’s shape us, as well as what we are capable of overlooking when it comes to someone that we love. Read this one, it does not disappoint!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I didn't know what to expect when I read the synopsis nor even when I started reading the book. I was happily surprised it was a darkish twisted good read. The only thing missing for me would be something to happen to Heather, although I totally understand why it didn't go there because Burke would not be able to move forward or be the somewhat good man that he is.

Too Good to Be True by Carola Lowering is a fairly intriguing thriller that I read in one day. I loved the main character, Skye Starling. She was such a genuine and caring person. I liked how her OCD was approached in the story. I feel like Lowering showed how it impacted Skye's life, but showed how Skye was able to still be successful. I also like that it was not in the story simply to be a plot device. So many thrillers use mental illness so that there will be an unreliable narrator. I also liked how Lowering was able to show the dichotomy between the lives of people simply because of the family that they are born into and how wealth brings about great privilege that most people will never know no matter how hard they work. I don't want to spoil anything in this review, but I do recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good domestic thriller. With that being said, I did not like the ending and there were definitely parts of the story that simply didn't seem believable in the year 2020 (for example, if I'm a wealthy woman involved in a whirlwind romance, I would probably do some kind of background check).

Too Good to Be True by Carola Lovering. Oh my, wasn't expecting to get so involved in this story. Couldn't put it down, which lead to a couple of days of marathon reading with the kindle pages flying past. Romance, mystery, tension, twists, and so much more, It is Too Good to Be True. Highly recommended!

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

This is a page turner that kept me awake into the early morning hours to find out what happens to the three main characters in this twisted psychological mystery. Skye Starling is beautiful and intelligent but is severely handicapped by her OCD which started when her precious mother died after a long illness. Her OCD has severely hampered her relationships. Burke Michaels is an older man who has had some business reversals that have damaged his personal life as well as the economic welfare of his wife and children. Heather is a woman driven to have it all, to be successful as a mother and wife, to be wealthy and well-respected by the community. She has worked very hard to rise above her poor and uneducated background. The intersection of their lives leads to a satisfying story of love and greed and deceit and revenge. A great addition to any public library collection.

This book is a 5 star read for sure. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this titie.
