Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. I did not finish this novel. I will likely come back at some point but I could get into this recency setting where the main female character has some shady past in Russia. I'm sure others will enjoy the plot of brothers with secrets, a Season, etc

This is a very slow moving story. I tried reading it multiple times. The people spent so much time speaking, the reader was forced to go back and re read repeatedly to make sure they were still on track. I kept reading a few pages, then would have to back track. It was a long, frustrating read. The story was about a heroine who was a party girl of the Regency period. She was in her Season and looking for a husband. A friend of her brothers was courting her. She might have liked him and he might have liked her, but there was too much disconnect that was supposed to be miscommunication. And they did not interact very often, every 3 to 4 days. I know if I liked someone, I would make an effort to see them everyday, if only to smile at them. And it was silling things. Like he bought a townhouse for them to live in, specifically so she could have a nice posh home. Then they got into an argument over who was going to decorate the foyer or entryway and the heroine decided he didn't want to marry her because he was asking her mother for decorating advice?!? He just told her he bought this house because she liked the area, so why would you think he didn't want to marry you? I think the author was trying for some comic relief or tongue'in-cheek repartee, but it came out forced and unimaginative. I do not recommend this book because there wasn't a solid story line or plot. The little bit of story was so disconnected and it was hard to read. At this point, I didn't even bother to look for correct spelling and proper grammar. 1 star, do not recommend.
