I found it easy to get swept up into this highly enjoyable read. Evan and Katie share plenty of clever banter and there's lots of tension as these two engage in an epic battle of wills. Overall, I thought that the story was fun, the book was well written and the characters very likable. This book offers readers a entertaining blend of drama, humor, emotion that quickly nabs your attention and has you rooting for this pair to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way and embrace the love they feel in their hearts.

Who does not love a good Scottish story? I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Evan and Katie are great characters with lots of emotions and outbursts. I like how Callie presents the characters in that even though Evan is arrogant and demanding, he realizes that it is not “his way or the highway” and Katie had her own issues with arrogance even though she did not want to admit it. They were able to work out their issues. This story was a joy to read.

On another note, I loved Alasdair and hope he gets his own story at some point.

A Scott to Wed by Callie Hutton

Highlander Laird Evan MacNeil inherited the MacNab lands, Mistress Katie Sterling believes this is her inheritance. Katie travels across Scotland to bring her ragtag family and clan to a new place and life. Chaos ensues as her clansmen start to trickle in. This was such a fun story to read. The characters were well written and I was rooting for them from the start.

This story has family loyalty, kidnapping, arrogant lairds, perseverance, castle chaos, puppies, and much more. A fun read if you have a few hours to indulge. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and the publisher. My review is my own opinion.

Wanted to get away to back in the day with a jaunt with a Scot and saw this one answered that call. Here Laird Evan and Katie have a dilemma with them both wanting the land. The spirit and spark in Katie is a joy to see and get to know as these two but heads. He feels more and more the connection that is building between them with us wanting to see that spark go off. Loving where this is and the characters that have captured me I have fallen deeper and deeper into this. This also gave the relief and enjoyment that was very much needed. This author has the magic to take us and give us the heart of the matter-love.

Highlander Laird Evan MacNeil cannot believe Mistress Katie Sterling just shows up at the MacDuff castle with this faded piece of parchment laying claim to the lands he just legally inherited. Not that he really wants to be here in the lowlands, but he has responsibilities to his clan and the exasperating Katie has uprooted the remnants of her father’s clan and moved them across the country to live here. Katie has nowhere else to go and she refuses to bow down to the arrogant yet undeniably handsome Highlander. She’s had enough with men trying to control her and she is quite capable of handling herself.
The second book in the series & it’s easily read on its own. What a fun entertaining read! I loved Katie who was strong, feisty & determined to do the best for her clan. Evan was lovely but definitely needed bringing down a peg or two, which Katie certainly did. A page turning engrossing read that I read in two sittings. Very well paced, characters of depth & a hero & heroine whose verbal spats often had me laughing out loud. Poor Evan didn’t know what had hit him when the Sterling clans folk arrived with all their possessions.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me via NetGalley. This book was just amazing. I just lost myself in this story and didn’t want it to end. It was really well written and just drew in you into these characters lives. I look forward to seeing what’s next from this author.

Magnificent read. Katie is a feisty Scottish Lass used to being in charge of her own life. Gavin is a brawny highland Laird. The two are immediately on a collision course. This is an exciting read with the two characters engaging in conversations of quick wit and snappy comebacks. As they try tight that age old attraction they also have to deal with the very funny invasion of people and animals into the castle. It is not a very long story but one you will probably very much enjoy reading in one sitting.

It was a lot of fun to read this story and I read it in one setting.
The plot is engrossing and entertaining, the MCs are well thought and I loved Katie, a strong willed and interesting woman.
I loved the historical background and the Scottish setting.
I highly recommend it.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

A charming easy read by a very good author. I truly enjoyed this story. Katie has been running her father's holdings since he fell into a bottle after her mother died giving birth to her brother. She finally had to rethink what to do when the barn caught fire with her father in it then spread to the keep. Her mother told her about her MacDuff family and how the holdings should belong to her. She showed Katie the paper explaining this. Katie found the papers after hearing about the death of the MacDuff laird and packed her and her clan off to that keep.

Laird Evan MacNeil received notice he had inherited the MacDuff holdings and came to Katie's rescue on the way to the castle. Things get very interesting when Katie and Evan both claim to be the Laird of MacDuff keep.

Sweet highlander battle of love

Katie and her small entourage had to leave what was left of her family estate, heading to the castle that was left to her through her mother's inheritance. Or so she thought. She arrives just as Evan and his brother arrive to claim the castle and land as dictated in the late laird's will. These two battle for control over the estate while battling their growing feelings towards each other.

These are characters that instantly come to life off the page, even as both Katie and Evan start out a bit headstrong and immature. Problems arise, some expected and some not, while a huge problem shows up just as Katie was beginning to think she'd successfully outrun it entirely. There's no shortage of passion between these two, and the ragtag assortment of supporting characters were delightful and added depth and charm to the story.

In the beginning I had to roll my eyes a couple times at the obvious-yet-ignored solutions to their immediate problems, but both main characters soon took shape and started acting more in line with what I expected. Katie was as spunky as she needed to be, easily standing up to the overbearing, presumptuously bossy Evan. They both experience substantial personal growth as they get to the heart of the problems and the very satisfying solution for everyone. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Will she find the new home she longed at the end of this journey ...

What a fun and fast read this book was, the pages and words flew by, I didn’t saw the time pass.
While it is a novel on the short side, it has everything to enjoy. From the fiery lass and the managing laird clashing wills at every turn, to the many animals and kids wreaking havoc in their wake.
And while I think Katie was a bit unrealistic to embark in such a journey without having any insurance of what will await her at the end of it, I also understood the reasons behind a run into the unknown, it looked better than the outcome waiting her at home.
Still, very reckless as it was not only she and her brother she took along her trip to a new place.
Yet she did what she had to, as she did for years because of her absentee and irresponsible father. At such a young age, she became manager of her family lands, mother to her brother, healer of her people. What a burden for her young shoulders.
Thus she does not take well to be ordered by a laird determined to not accept her request.
Evan is head of his lands, so everything must going the way he wants and expects, but Katie’s arrival turns his stay at his new estate in a game of patience and disorder.
He came here on a mission, and the course of it is very much altered when a feisty lass arrives with a silly demand that he surrenders his new estate to her.
Yet this fiery girl, no, woman, full of spunk arises his interest. Could there be more to expect than banters and clash of wills?

Outside the dark topic behind Katie’s true reason of escape, this is a light and full of fun read, with only the issue of two tempers crossing daggers.
I loved too the tiny snippets of daily life and customs from this time in this area.

Two strong personalities clash at every turn, making for a few amusing moments, as well as a lot of sparks. Katie and Evan start feuding from the very start, but it’s heartening that he trusts her with overseeing his estate, even as he countermands her and ignores her feelings. Good story, lots of interesting developments, and enough heat between this couple that their romance sizzles.

"Tis mine. I am the owner."
"Who are ye, lass, that you say the McDuff Castle is yers?
And so a lovely romance sort of begins. McDuff Castle is the backdrop as the new home of Mistress Katie Stirling, her maid Meggie, brother Gavin and a slew of her villagers. As the castle fills and trouble creeps closer, love starts to grow between Laird Evan Alasdair and Mistress Katie Stirling.

Even though this novel was a little on the short side for me. It packs quite a punch.

Mistress Katie Sterling arrives at MacDuff Castle claiming the land that Laird Evan MacNeil was legally inherited. With no plans to stay at the estate Evan agrees to let Katie manage the estate in his absence. Especially since some of her clansmen are set to arrive

Now he's visiting with his tenants before he leaves, with Katie along also.
And of course the more time they spend together, only fuels their growing attraction.

Mistress Katie Stirling has uprooted her family and half her clan to travel across Scotland and claim her birthright. She has more than one reason for the journey.

Laird Evan MacNeil has come to take control of his inheritance and hire someone to look after it when he goes back to his clan. He doesn't expect a rival claimant.

The clash of two strong characters, both with the welfare of their clans to consider will cause storm clouds. Chaos reigns throughout the castle.

Lots of fun and a little danger for everyone.

I loved it.

When Katie leaves England for Scotland to claim MacDuff castle as her own, she never expected to encounter the handsome Highlander Evan who also claims ownership of the land. Conflict ensues as each feels they have a legitimate claim. However, as the days progress and more of Katie’s clan arrives, Evan knows he can’t turn them all away. Winter approaches and an even more threatening danger waits for Katie. Can Katie and Evan resolve their issues in a way that satisfies them both? Will they be able to resist the growing attraction and affection they feel for each other?

This is a fun and quick love story that I read in one sitting. Though it is under 200 pages, it is filled with rich development and complex characters. Hutton quickly immerses the reader into the story with witty dialogue and insta-attraction between the two main characters.

The author also uses references that might be familiar to readers including the MacDuff Castle and Fife. I remember these references from teaching William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and I believe that MacDuff’s character in the play is loosely based on history. I love that the Hutton used this setting and reference in her historical romance.

I also enjoyed the romance between Katie and Evan. She is a feisty, brave, and determined woman who attracts Evan from the start. He is intrigued by her strong will and gumption, and he falls for her even more when he sees how kind and fair she is. Katie drives him to distraction, which unnerves the cool and controlled Evan while it amuses his more easy-going brother.

Katie notices Even’s strength and take-charge attitude as well as his “willingness to care for those who were vulnerable.” She admires him and feels things for him that she’s never felt before. What I really like about their relationship is that both characters are flawed. Katie is stubborn, overprotective, and prideful, and Evan is arrogant and bossy. Though these traits cause conflict, the couple accepts each other and tries to understand the other’s point of view. Plus, their friction makes for some spicy romance!

A Scot to Wed is a well-paced and interesting historical romance that I enjoyed reading. With an abundance of interesting and likable characters, a quick-moving plot, great dialogue, a little bit of humor and action, and a lot of romance, A Scot to Wed is worth a read! Thanks so much to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a fun book. Katie shows up with her younger brother and several people from her clan to claim the castle that she believes she has inherited. There, she meets Evan...who has also just arrived to claim his inheritance of the same castle. These two are stubborn and clash immediately as neither will back down but eventually agree to work together while they sort everything out. Hutton has written two very strong characters. Katie demands to be heard and treated with respect...woman or not. Evan is such an Alpha male and so kind at the same time. It's just so enjoyable to watch these two interact. I loved the setting of Scotland and how really well written this book is. A Scot to Wed is a super fast read (I read it in one sitting) and one I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun, quick escape with a strong heroine and her Alpha highlander.

such a fun book. These two clashing heads was very entertaining. Katie is doing all she can, even endangering herself to keep her clan safe. Evan doesn't know what to make of Katie at first but he's definitely drawn to her even if he wants her off his property she's claiming is hers.

Katie is depicted as a strong character with vulnerabilities and a secret. Evan"s stoic persona brings some unexpected chuckles through each unplanned event he encountered in the story involving loud people and a minagerie of unexpected animals. Alasdair's character was a breath of fresh air in the story. A good story from Ms Hutton.

Evan and Katie are a great match right from the start. Evan a controlling Laird who is used to everyone bending to his will, no questions asked. Katie has led her clan for years and isn't used to taking orders from anyone. When the two come together a fire sparks that only burns brighter the longer they are together. Ms. Hutton has created characters every romance reader will love.
