Sadly this book just was not for me. This sat on my kindle for quite some time - twice I have attempted to read and twice I did not finish.

Thankyou for the opportunity but I will not be providing feedback on any commercial sites for this book.

Strike Point was my introduction to the action-packed world of espionage created by John Etterlee. The narrative is well-written and engaging for readers to invest themselves in. The action is plentiful with realistic shootouts, that feel cinematic in nature. The action sequences are augmented by the accurate details of weapon systems, adding to the authentic and grounded vibe of the book. The high stakes in the thriller involving the horror of a full blown nuclear war with Russia create a pressing race-against-time vibe that few books can pull off aptly. The joint venture between an American Ranger and SAS members created an amazing team-up of highly competent and lethal operatives.

While I enjoyed the characters, I felt their dialogues can be improved in terms of compartmentalizing between their inner monologues and spoken words. I felt some dialogues would feel more natural as inner monologues than spoken words.

All in all, Strike Point is an action packed ride with non-stop action throughout, and a fast pace that is suited to the pressing events in the book.

I really liked the premise of this book. The way it started, it reminded me of a Tom Clancy novel. Roger starts out almost as a family man "James Bond". He gets unwillingly gets sucked into an international espionage game because of his strong patriotic fervor. The plot line is interesting and flows really well at the start. I found it a bit tedious in the middle because it seemed like they were just chasing around the countryside, but the plot was going nowhere. While I enjoyed the book, I felt it was a bit disjointed in that 3/4 of the story was trying to pre-empt the Russian President's nuclear attack on the US by stopping his ICBM, but then at the last minute the whole plot shifted to a truck bomb in the US. I did enjoy the ending, but would have liked a different path to get there.

Good story line once you got into the plot. For me the flow was a little irregular within the chapters, but overall very enjoyable reading with facts immersed with the fiction. Good read!

Description
A CIA Operative goes deep undercover in Russia and teams up with a group of SAS Soldiers amidst a growing nuclear conspiracy against America and a ruthless killer stalking them from the shadows. Former Special Operations Sergeant, Roger O’Neil is living quietly on his Montana Mountain ranch with his family, raising horses and teaching his children to appreciate the simple life. He wants nothing more than to live the American dream. But, that dream will come at a high price. America is at the brink of war with Russia. A year after battling a group of Neo-NAZI skinheads on his home turf, Roger is reluctantly pursued and recruited into a new Top Secret CIA Clandestine Unit. Sent undercover into the heart of Moscow as a Canadian tourist, Roger slowly begins to unravel the biggest international conspiracy committed by any country since the Cold War. A student on holiday in Moscow has been arrested and falsely imprisoned, suspected of being an American spy. The US Government believes the pro-communist Russian President plans to use him as a propaganda tool against the US. After a nighttime raid conducted by British Special Forces in downtown London in which intel is found that points to a terror organization's cooperation with the Russian President, Roger teams up with a group of SAS soldiers to thwart Russia’s nuclear plans, at all costs. With tensions rising between the Kremlin and the West, Roger finds himself directly in the middle of an impending nuclear war between the two powerful nations. And, a shadowy Russian assassin hot on their trail. As the Russian leadership continually taunts the American president, and fear among the public at an all-time high, can they rescue the prisoner, defeat the most lethal contract killer in Russia, and prevent an attack on American soil in a deadly game of nuclear chess? Or, is this the beginning of World War Three?
