This book is fantastic.
The story is split into four timelines.
It is full of tension. I did think some elements were completely unrealistic

A very dramatic read that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. An interesting take on the missing child idea and it makes for a great read.

Wow! What a story this is! It certainly kept me glued to my Kindle late at night.
When we meet Leo and Jenny they are about to have a baby, but Leo knows the baby isn’t his. Jenny doesn’t realise he knows that.
When Jenny gives birth she is besotted with her little girl. Leo isn’t so enamoured, but he keeps his thoughts to himself so as not to rock the boat. He needs Jenny to be able to continue doing what he loves. He’s a writer and Jenny’s steady income and second property means he has had the luxury of focusing solely on his writing career. He is determined to become a best seller. Leaving Jenny isn’t an option if he wants to succeed. He is not a likeable person.
My heart went out to Jenny. I can’t even imagine how anyone would begin to move on from the trauma she suffers after just giving birth.
My heart went out to Hannah also, at the beginning. The grief she suffers is unimaginable too. Nothing can justify what she does next though. Her life collides with Leo’s in the most spectacularly twisted way, and she takes advantage of the situation, seemingly, without a second thought. What follows is horrifying.
Two mothers, two baby girls, stories entwined in a way I could never have imagined.
Keep Her Quiet is a fast-paced, suspenseful novel which had me holding my breath on more than one occasion. An incredibly emotional story, full of twists and turns. And, likeable or not, the characters are all fascinating. I loved it!
Highly recommend!

**Many thanks to the author and publisher for my review copy via NetGalley. I am working my way through my list, slowly but surely**

Jenny has just had a baby and is over the moon, her husband Leo is not so. What happens from here is an absolute rollercoaster of lies, kidnapping, heartbreak and answers.

A great book, the characters had depth! Leo is a sufferable narcissist. I hated him, but that's the point I think.

The tension in this book continually increases and when you think things can't get and worse they do. A bit far fetched at times but a compelling story and one where you have to keep going to the end.

Suspend a lot of reality and this book is ok. I’m only giving it 3/5 because of the gaping hole (that you have to suspend reality for) at the start of the book. Good story though. I just couldn’t get over the first ridiculously.

Impressive book to round off my summer holiday and to keep me hooked especially on the long journey from airport back to my house, I barely knew where I was as I was quite happily absorbed in the pages of this.

Emma Curtis is fast becoming an auto-must read author for me, this is another top quality story that had me on my toes and I was never quite sure how things would turn out.

It starts with every woman's nightmare, followed by a huge betrayal and it continues from that. I really don't want to comment further on the plot as it is so intricately connected I'd inadvertently spoil something. Suffice to say its addictive, and with varying view points, you really get to know all the main protagonists.

Jenny is the one I feel sorry for in all it, she has done nothing wrong, and is caught up in a nightmarish scenario.

This is tense, I'm never quite sure where it will go next and I loved every second of this.

Thank you to Transworld and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Jenny has just given birth to a much wanted baby and as Leo knows, it can’t possibly be his. Miles away in Kent there’s Hannah who has also just had a baby. A bizarre set of circumstances, a chance meeting between Leo and Hannah throws all their lives into chaos. A thrilling thriller! Although loved the start and ending, the middle did seem to stretch out a bit. Nobody seemed very likeable, neither the main characters or the professionals. But the story is gripping and grabs the reader by the throat as you hope the right people will get their comeuppance. One of the books I just did not want to put down!

This book is fantastic. The last couple of books I've read haven't gripped me so I needed a book like this to come along. I absolutely loved 'The Night You Left' by Emma Curtis so I had high hopes for 'Keep Her Quiet'.

The story is split into four parts; Part One set in 1989, Part Two set 16 years later in 2005, Part Three in 2007 and Part Four I will describe as "after".

In 1989, Jenny and Leo Creasey have a baby called Sophie. At the same time, 17 year old Hannah is estranged from her family after falling pregnant. Her newborn daughter dies by accidental asphyxiation after Hannah falls asleep with the baby in her bed.

In a panic, she runs out into the street and is hit by Leo Creasey's car. He has been drinking as he never wanted children, had a secret vasectomy, so he knows Jenny's baby isn't his. Hannah convinces Leo that he has killed her baby and he ends up taking Hannah to steal Jenny's baby from the hospital and Hannah raises her as her own.

16 years later, Leo and Jenny are still married and are doing a TV appeal for Sophie as her 16th birthday is approaching. Jenny has obviously never gotten over Sophie's disappearance. Leo has used the "fame" to take himself away from their London home to go to their cottage in Kent three days a week to write and has become a successful author. The contrast in how her disappearance has affected them is written very well.

Following the TV appeal, two girls at Zoe's school who pick on her, make jokes about how she could be the abducted girl because she's "so weird" and because her mother homeschooled her and they don't have a TV.

I don't want to get into the crux of the story because I am not about posting spoilers but this is a fantastic read. It touches tough subjects like the loss of a child and emotions due to Stockholm Syndrome.

I truly did not know where this story was going and I loved that. Usually I can tell or guess the plot as I read but this was just fantastic. I would love to see this book made into a movie. It is perfect for a screen.

Wow! I loved this book. Fast paced and I just couldn't wait to find out how it all ended.
My first read by this author but I will certainly be looking out for more.
Thank you very much to Netgalley for an early review copy

This was such a brilliant, twisty book. At first I wasn’t sure as it talked about kidnapping and the dying of a baby but, once I got over that the book gathered pace and I couldn’t put it down. The way the male character behaved in the book really made me gasp out loud and I couldn’t believe that his wife didn’t see through him until near the end. I do hope that the author writes more as I. Interested to read more of her books.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I'd read an earlier work by Emma Curtis (The Night You Left) so was expecting an exciting and gripping tale - and I certainly wasn't disappointed!

This book is an absolutely riveting story of two women who give birth to daughters within a day or two of each other. They are irrevocably linked by some chance circumstances and the nasty, egotistical, selfish person who takes full advantage of them. Leo (aspiring writer) is husband to Jenny (successful accountant) and they have a comfortable life. Leo knows that Jenny's newborn daughter is not his and circumstances conspire for him to secretly punish Jenny and get rid of the unwanted burden on his marriage, finances and lifestyle. The plot picks up 16 years later and goes in a completely unexpected direction when Leo has to take drastic action to preserve his (now successful author) reputation and lifestyle.

What I loved about this book was that although it seemed potentially far-fetched at times, every action and consequence is completely in fitting with each character as portrayed. The author has the ability to get inside the heads of her complex characters, even Leo. The plot had several "Wow! I wasn't expecting that" moments, and the pacing was excellent. The ending was good - just about every loose end tied with a little hope for some of the characters.

Recommended for anyone who enjoys a good character-driven thriller.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest, independent review.

Leo knows he is not the father of the baby girl his wife has just given birth to. Leo feels betrayed; Jenny feels so happy.

Chance puts him in the path of Hannah, a vulnerable teenage mother who wakes to find her newborn baby girl lifeless beside her. They make a plan that changes their lives forever.

Sixteen years later, their paths cross again when a teenage girl reads an article in a newspaper and starts to uncover the truth about herself, leading to dangerous consequences.

Wow! What a brilliant book; totally gripping! This is the second book of Emma Curtis' I have read, and I could not put it down; it kept me up late, absolutely hooked! Just when you think life will not get worse for the characters, the tension ramps up again.

Very cleverly written from multiple characters' points of views, which worked really well. I did not like the male character from the start, but I warmed to all three females and their vulnerability.

Definitely a book you will not be able to put down!

This is a psychological thriller which shows how a moment of stupidity can have far reaching consequences in the lives of others and just how far someone will go to protect themselves.

This is a story of lies, deception, ambition and ego.

The perfect way to escape the reality of lock down

I received this arc through netgalley and the publishers penguin in exchange for an honest review.
I have had Emma Curtis’ previous books on my to be read pile but this is the first one I’ve read, and what a great read it was.

Jenny and Leo have a baby girl and so does Hannah, the events that follow defy belief and we follow their stories over the next 18 years.

I raced through this book and will definitely picking up the other books I have by Emma Curtis to read as soon as possible.
