Princess Fuzzypants here: When Myrtle gets the call that her aunt has died, she is torn by guilt and regret. She had not returned that last call from her aunt and she wonders how things might have differed. When she gets to her aunt’s B & B business, she discovers a well run operation with two competent sisters keeping things moving, a distraught and flighty cousin and a flatulent elderly cat named Tiddles.

Tiddles becomes her support and confidante as she sorts through the estate matters and tries to figure out what happened to her aunt. She is convinced it was murder. At first the police write it off as a tragic accident but continued threats finally convince them there is something going on. The problem is there are a couple of viable suspects living in her B & B including the nephew of a nefarious businessman and a young constable who is aching to get ahead. Should Myrtle trust either of them and if so which one? And what about the assorted folks who seem half a bubble of a plumb and seem to be keeping secrets from her?

And what does all this have to do with her parents who died in a fiery crash into the monolithic stones at Avebury or to the something that someone seems to be searching for in her attic? It is going to take all of her power and the able assistance of Tiddles and her human friends to answer those questions and solve the murder. As Myrtle discovers new and distressing but wonderful things about herself, the reader also learns there is a lot more there than meets the eye.

The book has a delightful cast of characters including the stinky kitty and by the end of the book, the reader is fully engaged in Myrtle’s voyage of discovery. Five purrs and two paws up.

Rounding up to four stars as parts of the story were totally charming...a little madcap and fun. Still other parts were just a little too madcap, in need of more focus and tighter editing. The author has definite potential and, I expect, her future books in this series will bear this out. Myrtle Coldrun's died after calling her for help. She not only has the guilt to bear, she also has a B&B, The Witch's Retreat, to run...And a death to solve. How much does her aunt's Wiccan beliefs have to do with her demise? And who is this mysterious evil, "he?"

This is a delightful and magical cozy mystery. The characters were realistic. The story is so compelling that I wanted to finish it so I could see where the story was going. It is a fun quick read. I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining little cozy. I definitely recommend this book.

What a great start for a new cozy series. I was hooked since the first pages and couldn't put down this gripping and entertaining story.
I loved the setting which is vivid and well described, the fleshed out cast of characters (the geriatric cat was a favourite) and the solid mystery that kept me guessing.
The paranormal aspect is present but the author did a great job in introducing it a bit at a time.
I can't wait to read the next instalment.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Magical misfits is right, a quirky main character with no tolerance for Aunt's Wiccan ways and a touch of the paranormal make for an fun and interesting read. Looking forward to more.

Not often I decided to not finish a book that's actually pretty decent, but this story just refuses to grab me. The dialogue's all right; I just finished a chapter that ended with some dialogue and I was about to continue reading. It's the narrative that makes this book too hard to read for me: too verbose. So, I'm going to quit and curl up with something simpler instead.

I really enjoyed this cozy little mystery. It has such great characters and it took me a while to guess who the murderer was. I also liked that it mixed in a little bit of the paranormal to give it a bit of a zing. My favorite character perhaps is the geriatric cat named Tiddles who seems to have a flatulence problem. I hope the author continues to write more in the series for I will definitely be reading them.

What a fun and clever mystery story! Eve Coldren dies under suspicious circumstances. Her niece Myrtle is notified and goes to Avebury. Turns out she inherits Witch's Retreat, the Bed & Breakfast her aunt owned. As Myrtle tries to solve the mystery of who killed her aunt strange things start happening. I liked the steady pace, productive pace of this story and the likable characters. I anticipate more fun and interesting mysteries to come in Lina Hansen's future Magical Misfits books.

I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
