For the first part (not very long), I thought I might not like this book, but I then got pretty into it, and it was hard to put down! Maelyn is WAY into the family / friend Christmas traditions that have gone on her whole life. But in her 20s, the holiday doesn't go quite as she planned. And we get into a Groundhog Day situation. The romance was sweet, and Maelyn learned important things about herself before the end.
I'd recommend this to people looking for a romance, especially a holiday romance!

This is one book that I’ve been anxiously waiting to read and it did not disappoint!!! I loved the Groundhogs Day element to this romance, it gave the holiday season a new sort of magic!! Reliving the same day over and over again not only forces Mae to confront her feelings for Andrew but it also forces her to confront what she truly wants with her life. While this isn’t the “traditional” Christmas romance, it’ll still get you in the mood for the coming holiday!!

Friends to Lovers is a favorite trope of mine, especially when one has been harboring a long time love for the other person!!! In addition to the wonderful magical element, Lauren created a great host of characters and built a quaint setting within the family cabin. I loved how Lauren made this a “chosen family” that have been building traditions so the last 30yrs.

This book made me happy. I was smiling and just enjoyed the whole world Author Christina Lauren created.

Seeing Maisie & Andrew story unfold was cute, funny & sweet romance to read.

A great read to enjoy the Holidays with.

This was just the book I needed for a break after my recent thriller binge. The perfect cozy holiday hallmark read.

It's the Christmas version of Groundhog Day! It was an interesting story but I found the dynamic between the group to be a bit co-dependent as they have shunned all regular family Christmas celebrations rather choosing to celebrate the holiday every year with their chosen family.

The story itself was fun, lighthearted and was interesting to read.

What a wonderful surprise this book was! I’ve been disappointed by the last few Christina Lauren books but I’m a sucker for a good holiday romance so I had to try this.

The description of being like Groundhog’s Day is accurate. Mae has to relive her week leading up to Christmas until she gets it right! She’s worried about family traditions and losing the magic of the holidays PLUS she still suffers from a massive crush on her friend’s brother.

All the drama is fun and easy to follow. There’s definitely some emotion to it and the romance is just satisfying enough to fit the bill. I definitely felt the Christmas vibe and it was easy to keep turning the pages. The only knock I’ll give is that the characters seemed to act a lot younger than they are which often bugs me.

Overall it was a cute story and I’d recommend!

I was worried about The Groundhog Day storyline in the beginning (this again??), but it was a cute, unique take on an overdone trope that made it worth it in the end for me (and also made me really want to experience a Christmas in this cabin). This needs to be turned into a Netflix moving ASAP. 10/10 recommend for a holiday romance!

Oh, oh, oh my heart. I waited too long (again) to review this so my initial thoughts and giddiness have receded back into my bookworm heart. At this point I can't even begin to try to review this fully until I am able to re-read it but let me tell you, my faith has been renewed. For whatever reason, the last few books by these ladies didn't mesh well with me (which is kind of ironic because those seem to be some of their most popular books). I don't know if it was the actual stories or whatever specific mood I was in when I read them but I almost didn't even try requesting this one from NetGalley because of it.

Something about this one though, spoke to my heart. The way I felt after finishing this one was only a little less intense than how I feel every single time I read Love and Other Words. Pure giddiness is one way to describe it. I think I'll save the re-read until I need an emotional pick me up because this is sure to get me out of whatever funk a future bad day will surely find me in.

3.5 stars. It was cute but, I felt it focused a lot on the idea of the groundhog day time loop, and not the growth to cutaneous things. If you put me on the spot for a synopsis, I'd say she fixed it by quitting her job and telling her crush she liked him, but there's more to the story.

I've been saving this read for the holiday season, and flew through it in two days. In a Holidaze follows 26-year-old Mae, who is heartbroken to learn that the cabin her family and family friends spend every Christmas in is being sold and embarrassed at the eggnog-fueled kiss she planted on Theo Hollis, brother to her longtime crush Andrew. When Mae throws a wish out into the universe, it sends her into a Groundhog Day-scenario of repeating the holiday festivities over and over again and attempting to find love and happiness along the way. This was the perfect read to get me in the holiday spirit. Mae is a funny and relatable heroine, who knows she wants more from her life but needs a little help from the universe to discover what will truly make her happy. I particularly loved how CLo explored the ways traditions can grow and change (and how doing the same thing every year for the holidays can be its own time loop). Even though Mae and I have some fundamental differences when it comes to our opinions on chocolate (#darkchocolateforever #whitechocolateisgross), I'd still love to spend the holidays with her, Andrew, Theo, and the rest of their group.

Cute but too many characters. It got confusing keeping track of everyone. I also got sick of the time loop. I had constant anxiety that we would go back again.

I adored this book! I loved the "resets" and their pacing, as well as the sprinkles of new information we got throughout about each of the characters and their part of the story. It made me nostalgic for family holidays growing up and really got me in the Christmas spirit. I wish we would have gotten more of Theo's redeeming qualities and more of Andrew in general, but this book still gets five stars from me!

In a Holidaze was classic Christina Lauren with a hint of magic.

I was completely drawn in by the characters as well as the location. The authors described this winter retreat with such loving detail that I felt I was on vacation with the family.

I thoroughly enjoyed the family relationships. The fact that the families spent every Christmas together for years and continued to do so even once family dynamics changed was such a fun element. Benny was by far my favorite character.

I loved the development of the relationship between Mae and Andrew. I also enjoyed the hints that maybe this wouldn't all work out the way we think it would. I loved that it didn't follow a typical formula and that I was kept guessing up until the very last second.

I thought this book was a fun read and read it close to Christmas so it was a great seasonal read. I think the story threw me off with the time warp stuff. It would have been a great story without it and at times I felt it was distracting. I loved the characters and the development of the plot. It was a great holiday happy ending, but the supernatural I could leave. Thanks NetGalley for allowing me to review. :)

It was okay, not great, just blah. I like their older books better e.g. Beautiful Bastard and Sweet Filthy Boy. The last two books just don't have the character development the older books do. The link between the love interests seems to be flat. My library bought this title.

I knew going in to this book that it was a groundhog day theme of reliving the same day over and over again but what the hell was this. I really did like any of the main characters. We didn't get to really know much about them besides what the author told us. There's way too many side characters that I couldn't keep track of who was related and how old they was. I really enjoyed only one character in the entire book and he somehow ended up being rich. Doubtful. It seemed like a total cop out to solve an issue in the book. The ground hog day thing is done for no real reason. It's not explained well and then just like that it stops for no reason. The romance in this book moved so quick. They only romantically thought about eachother for what a couple days and then they were sleeping together. Overall I was disappointed with this book and ended up skimming over parts because I really didn't care what was going on. It got a little better towards the end but it wasn't good enough for a 4 star rating.

This was a very cute book and I absolutely adored the family aspect especially around Christmas. I read this in two sittings (the first time I had to put it down at 1:30am or else I would have not stopped until the end) so I definitely inhaled it. I do have a few complaints, but mostly this met my expectations and it was a great pick for a holiday read.

I was really looking forward to the time loop plot point, because I am trash for any kind of Groundhog Day-esque stories, but felt this part of the book fell a little flat. Why not lean into it more? It seemed like the time loop ended too soon in my opinion. I just wanted to feel more excited about the days starting over and seeing wildly different scenario play out. That said, I have seen some reviews of people saying they didn’t enjoy the repetition of it and couldn’t take much more of the time loop as it was, so I might be in the minority in wanting more time loop shenanigans.

As for the love interest: Andrew is definitely perfect on paper. Maybe *too* perfect. I just never felt very invested in him. He never felt solid to me. The way he reacted to finding out about Mae’s previous timeline was flat out bizarre.

And because of this, I didn’t root for him and Mae like I wanted to. Their romance was more tell than show in my opinion. It lacked some much-needed background info regarding the two of them and their history together. And beyond that, I would have liked for the other characters’ personalities to shine more besides Benny. I felt like the only character with real dimension was Mae, who I really did like.

Also I feel the need to admit that I thought the story was going to go in an unexpected direction and make Mae and Theo a thing—mostly to face the whole needing Theo but having pined for Andrew her whole life. And part of me feels like it would have made for a more exciting, tension-filled book, with way more personality and complexity from the love interest, who had *actually* been in love with Mae as long as she had lusted after Andrew. But I digress.

All in all, this was a fast-paced, easy story that made me excited for Christmas. As always, I will continue to read CL’s books because regardless of my lackluster feelings sometimes, like with this book, they always deliver a story I don’t want to put down.

I have been a lover of Christina Lauren books for several years but this one just didn't do it for me. I'm usually not a huge Christmas book reader but I was looking forward to Christina Lauren's signature awesomeness in this holiday themed book even though the plot sounded a little boring (and unrealistic to me). Unfortunately this book just never seemed to really grab me. I read through it quick - hoping it would get better - but it just never took off for me. That being said I'm still looking forward to the next Christina Lauren book!

The holidays are Mae’s favorite time of year. Her now fractured family returns to each other every year, linking up with their longtime family friends for a week of traditions and togetherness. Best of all, Mae gets to spend time with her forever crush, Andrew. This Christmas is no different, until Mae drinks too much on the last night and let things go too far – with Andrew’s younger brother. Mae leaves the trip with a massive sense of regret, begging the universe for help. And the universe obliges when Mae’s SUV is hit and she wakes up….back in time when everyone else is starting day one of their trip. Mae begins to live the trip over and over, growing closer to Andrew each time.

Call me crazy, but my ONLY complaint was that I think this book would have worked without the time loop element that allowed Mae to live the week over and over. This bit of magic was never explained and while it created the central issue of brother v. brother, I feel there could have been something more realistic that drove that storyline forward. All that said, this book was a blast! I loved the environment this author created, and I could feel the tight knit bonds between best family friends. I liked the protagonist a lot, as well as her love interest, and I could feel their chemistry! I’ve read a handful of Christine Lauren’s novels, and this ranks up top for me.

I had such fun with In A Holidaze. I believe this is my first time reading Christina Lauren’s work so I’ll need to go check out her backlist because this was exactly the book I needed to get me out of the gloom, doom, and overall down trip that 2020 has been so far.

This is also a story that I really cannot say too much about as that would definitely give away spoilers that you should experience, and laugh about, first-hand. What I’m comfortable saying is that Mae has embarked on the annual Christmas trip to a cabin of family friends in Utah. She and family have been going here for years, and even though some things within her family have changed, some remain the same… and that is the joy she always feels when arriving at this cabin and the very long time crush she’s had on one man and never done a thing about. It remains her well-kept secret (for now anyway).

As Mae is leaving the cabin for the last time (her family’s friends are selling it) she makes one wish… one simple, heartfelt wish that will result in a wild, emotional, funny, tear provoking (from sad and happy moments) set of events that will eventually change Mae’s world. Once she steps out of the movie “Groundhog Day” that is. Yes, Mae is destined to restart her holiday trip over and over until she gets her life in order… and the result of all of her adventures is simply hilarious and emotional.

If you need to laugh and have your heart swell with emotions… then you need In A Holidaze in your life, right now.
