Mom Marries Mum is a delightful little LGBTQ+ picture book about two children's mothers getting married. What I loved about this book was how it portrays the exact thoughts of a young child about a big day such as their parents' wedding day and shows the excitement of the child.

We need more diverse children's books like this!

This is a very simple board book for young children. There is not a lot happening in this story, it is all about the excitement of a wedding and the celebration. Who is going to be there? What are they going to do? What will they wear? Just a sweet story about a same sex couple getting married with no fuss, no issues, just love and wonderful celebration. I read this to my grandchildren, but they are a bit too old for this one. They listened and talked a bit about weddings they have gone to and the fact that they didn't get to blow bubbles, but that was about it. This would be a great story to read to little ones who will be involved in a wedding, no matter whose it happens to be.

Mom Marries Mum is barely 12 pages long but it is truly beautiful with adorable illustrations. The title of the book is the story itself and how the kids plan to celebrate the wedding. It has a few questions showing curiosity about the upcoming wedding. A thunderous, assertive 'Yes' to all the questions is cute and so beautifully childlike.
It is a great book to simply normalise our way of looking at marriages and relationships. It is excellent to read this quick book to kids and make them understand different relationships. It can also foster a lot of thinking and allow kids to ask and raise questions. The questions in the story itself can help do that. They pique a child's curiosity and help them learn.

Mom Marries Mum! by Alice Priestley and Ken Setterington is a board book celebrating the wedding of two young children's mothers.

The illustrations are lovely and cheerful and the story itself is cute and to the point; board books are designed for very young children and as such are short and simple with little text. There are fewer than a dozen sentences moving from the announcement of the wedding, through a few questions from the children (Will Nana and Pop be there? Can I be the flower girl?), to the big day, where all their questions are answered with a resounding "yes!"

The pictures are joyful throughout, from the happy dancing when Mom and Mum make their announcement to the little girl scattering flowers to the wedding and reception, ending with a beautiful family portrait of the parents and children in their wedding outfits.

It would make a very cute read aloud for preschoolers, although given that age group's love of repetition, I would've liked to see each question answered individually - Will Nana and Pop be there? Yes! Can I be the flower girl? Yes! Will Jack carry the ring? Yes! - rather than posing a series of questions with one ultimate answer.

Nevertheless, a very charming board book!

Mom and Mum are getting married and a brother and sister are delighted with the preparations and celebration. The text is simple and is a perfect read aloud for preschool to Kindergarten and an independent reading book for Kindergarten and Grade one students. I also recommend purchasing the book for school libraries to promote acceptance.

This book is utterly adorable and is a must read, in my books!

Mom Marries Mum is a delightful book about two children's Moms getting married! It's an exciting and sweet little book about all the questions these kids have about the wedding Mom and Mum are going to have.

I did want a little bit more from this book. Maybe a plot or some education in it, but it was still sweet regardless. It's a short and simple book.

Two out of five stars.

Although I love that this is about two mommies getting married and the child is asking questions about the wedding, this book was really short. I just wish there were a bit more content, otherwise good book.

This is a simple board book that repeats the story of Mom and Mum are Getting Married. This time the illustrations are better and the story is simple to understand for the youngest in the family.

I was given this book from netgalley - thank you to the publisher and author. Lovely little book about a lesbian wedding. Very simple language but with very cute pictures. My little girl enjoyed it!

Perfect for normalising gay relationships throughout the population. We often choose books like this so she’s knows that gay relationships are not different.

Highly recommended.

Short board book, pretty basic. Not sure it’s one that kids would dip back into a lot or ask for, but in some cases it might turn out to be just the right book for a wee one.

This adorable board book is a celebration of family. I love the colourful images and the simple story about two people who love each other getting married. As a board book it will be a perfect addition to a child's library.

The main character's mothers are getting married! She asks questions about who will be there, what she will wear, what her brother will do - all typical questions from a child about weddings. This book is okay. I like that the fact that two women are getting married isn't a big deal and that the child is asking questions that all kids ask. I wish the family members were not all white and seemingly able-bodied; more visual differences in people is always better in picture books. There also isn't really a story here. I would probably still recommend it at my library if someone wanted a wedding book because there are not a ton of picture books about LGBTQ+ weddings.

One of the things this book does right is that it doesn't treat the wedding as something different. Many LQBTQIA books might go deeper into the situation or try to explain things that for a small child aren't really the point. The point is that your parents are getting married and you have questions. I do think that more questions could be added to make the book little more substantial. It is very short even for a board book.

This is a beautiful, short, simple but lovely children's book about a child's excitement about her and her brothers two Mums getting married.

What I loved about this book was its the exact thoughts a young child may have about a big day such as their parents wedding day and portrays the excitement of the said child.

This would be a great book to share with a child when a parent or family member is getting married.

Such a sweet book! I love the simplicity of the story: Mom and Mum are getting married, and everyone is happy and celebrating! The illustrations were beautiful. This would be a great book for young readers, and could be an excellent and easy way to discuss same-sex marriage.
