I received an electronic ARC from Andrews McMeel Publishing through NetGalley.
The adventure continues for these best friends. Simpson again creates a fun story and shows more about her Phoebe and Marigold. Plenty of humor and detailed illustrations.

My favorite thing about this series is that, even though Phoebe never ages, there's always something fun and fresh in each book.

Here, Marigold tries out for Unicorn Theater, and gets rejected. We witness her experience failure and insecurity, and rely on her Human BFF for support.

She also gets to serve jury duty, on a Unicorn trial against Phoebe for being Not a Unicorn. (apparently, this happens a lot).

I love Phoebe, I adore Marigold. I even love Dakota. This is such a fun series, with a wonderful message of the importance of friendship, sarcasm, and sparkles.

Marigold Heavenly Nostrils and Phoebe have been friends for a number of books but their adventures are still fun and fresh. In this book, Marigold gives Phoebe a little bit of unicorn magic to help prove that Phoebe is worth being a unicorn's friend. Phoebe also goes to a meaningless trial but is disappointed with the results. We get to learn more about unicorn traditions and get to see some of our favorite characters like Lord Splendid Humility and Dakota (but no Max or the goblins.)
As always, a book worth reading: fun, fluffy, and with unicorns! Can there be anything more magnificent?

Four and a half stars

Another great book in an amazing series. My daughter loved catching up with Phoebe and Marigold and is anxiously awaiting the next book.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via NetGalley and the publishers.

This is the second book I have read about Phoebe and her unicorn. As always I love the comedy side of this graphic novel and the overall message of perseverance and empathy. The illustrations are fantastic as always and will be a fun read for my students this year!

Every outing in the Phoebe and her Unicorn series proves to be just as delightful as the last! Another sweet, charming compilation of comics about a little girl and her unicorn best friend. Simpson continues to make me laugh and warm my heart with her comics!

If you like Heavenly Nostrils, then you are sure to like this book. It’s the newest edition. It’s not as good as some editions and not as bad either. It does a lot of jumps from theme to them. No long story lines to make everything cohesive. I enjoyed my time as always, but I won’t really remember what separates this book from the others.

Enjoyed reading this with my 8-year old. The unicorns are funny as usual with their naive perspectives. Loved the timely use of virtual reality with lessons on confidence and empathy....and as always....resilience! I love these chap books turned graphic novels. Great for a reluctant reader.

A another light, fun romp between two unlikely best friends. Pheobe and Marigold bring on the humor with this new addition to the series. Fans will enjoy this one but ongoing jokes will make it hard to pick this book up without having first read the other books in the series. Good for a range of ages.

First impression: there’s a glossary, awesome! When I requested this, I didn’t realize that is was issue 12 in the series. It seems to be ok to read them out of order as it’s short comics about the life of a girl and her unicorn. It reminds me a bit of Calvin and Hobbes. The art is cute and cheerful and sufficiently unicorn coloured.

Loved it. I always love the phoebe and her unicorn books. Beautiful and colorful fun art and a hilarious story of friendship to match.

I love Phoebe and her unicorn! If you are already a fan of the series as I am, then this definitely contains the usual sass and chuckles one expects from the duo. But I felt it was lacking something compared to earlier books in the series - namely cameos by the goblins, the candy dragon, and Max! - but also it just lacked some pizzazz. Hopefully it’ll gain it back in the next volume! (And bring back those other fun characters!)

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the e-ARC.

A cute and funny graphic novel for children. Phoebe is a little girl whose best friend is Marigold, a unicorn. Together they go on adventures and help each other.
The plot it's not exactly continuous, in some it is but in others we have just different scenes not connected with the ones before but those are still funny.
I really liked Marigold, she makes many jokes and her magic powers are fantastic, her relationship with Phoebe is really beautiful. The both complement each other. I enjoyed the parts when Phoebe asks Marigold for her magic help and weird stuff happens haha, those scenes were really fun.
I recommend this to children who like fantasy and magic stories.

My daughter read this book. She is 8 years old and will be in 3rd grade. She has also read all the other Phoebe and her Unicorn books. In her words "It was a great book! I liked that it was a graphic novel. I liked it so much because I really like unicorns. My favorite part is beginning because the Unicorn always has to be right. Phoebe always wants her unicorn to be right even if she's wrong and it's so funny."

My 8 year old daughter loves these phoebe and her unicorn books. So of course when I saw this available on netgalley I had to grab it. She loved it. I'm pretty sure everyone would love to experience a virtual unicorn experience after reading this! I mean who doesn't love sparkles?

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for my gifted copy. ❤

This doesn't seem to be a distinct story, rather a collection of cartoons from the same creator. It's well drawn and cute, but I found it became quickly repetitive. There's a distinct Calvin and Hobbes feel here, but possibly pitched at an older (or perhaps simply more sardonic) generation?

This is the second book in the Phoebe and her unicorn series and I lived it. I have thoroughly enjoyed both books I have read in this series so far and look forward to reading the rest.

This graphic novel comic book style book had me giggling away, with child and adult humour within it.

I love how each book so far has been so different to the last. The names of the unicorns are fantastic and I thought the step by step drawing pages at the back of how to draw phoebe and Marigold were a great addition to this book.

Volume 12 and this series is staying strong. I laughed out loud so many times during this volume, it was pure delight.
I love that Phoebe also has adopted the Unicorn! exclamation when proud. I must admit to also doing it now when I'm being extra fabulous or sparkly.
And talking of sparkly, be warned, this book is extremely sparkly. Love it!

Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read and review this early. This book comes out September 1st 2020

Yet another hilarious novel from Dana Simpson. It is no secret amongst my daughter’s friends and teachers that she is obsessed with the Phoebe and the Unicorn series. In fact, she loves these books so much it’s often her first idea for friends when going to birthday parties. After reading the latest in the series entitled, The Virtual Unicorn Experience, we’ve added it to our list of gifting options.

The Virtual Unicorn Experience describes Phoebe’s latest adventures into technology and magic. The plot line and jokes were a bit more advanced for my 8 year old this time around. Still, she adored it just the same, and I found myself laughing out loud, once again.

As a mom, I love this series. My daughter’s go-to genre is always humor. Unfortunately, humorous books for 8 year old girls become tricky to find when you have a voracious reader. I am so thankful for the Phoebe series. She is a re-reader, and these books contain a depth of humor and vocabulary that I know will grow alongside her as she ages. She finds something new in these stories each time she rereads them, which is something I cannot say for many of the other books she chooses to reread. Im certain we’ll be Phoebe fans for many years to come. Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the advanced reader’s copy in exchange for my honest review.
