"For Better or Cursed" by Kate Williams follows a familiar formula but lacks the originality to truly stand out. The plot is decently paced. The characters, while not particularly memorable, are relatable enough to keep readers engaged. The writing style is straightforward and accessible, making it an easy read. If you're looking for a light and straightforward read without high expectations, "For Better or Cursed" might be worth a try, but don't expect it to blow you away.

My rating on this one is mostly based on my enjoyment of this rollercoaster ride of a sequel! This was SO SO SO good!!! It was just SO entertaining & unexpected; it was even better than the first one!

I really just enjoyed this SO much. An awesome, fresh take on, somewhere between the abilities of witches & hunters, guardians of the innocent (against demons, monsters, etc.)... SITTERS!

Sitters, slayers... tomato, tomahtoe ;-)

This is a series and I loved this book just as much as the first. If you're a fan of Buffy you'll find this book as well as this series very enjoyable. Kinda predictable but doesn't take a way from the overall story

My co-worker recommended For Better or Cursed because she enjoyed the book and thought I would too. I didn't enjoy the book as much as she did, overall I still thought the book was okay.

Kate Williams has picked up the Buffy the Vampire Slayer mantle giving readers the pop culture references and tongue-in-cheek humor that kept legions of fans watching and rewatching.

This one was a bit predictable, but no less enjoyable that the first one. This is a series I will keep reading on release week... or before if the publisher allows it!

This book had an amazing plot, but I felt the characters were a bit hard to connect to.

Thank you kindly to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this review copy.

I absolutely adored the first book in this series. I was actually really excited for this second installment before it came out. Now that it's out and I've (attempted to) read it, I just completely lost interest in it. This is why I usually binge read series so I'm still interested in them without the year+ long wait in between.

For Better or Cursed is Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets the Babysitter's Club but with demons instead of vamps. This book takes place at a big gathering of all the Sitters. Having all the Sitters in one place is supposed to be ultra-safe but things start going wrong. Esme and Cassandra must join forces to save the sitters and their town. Janis is back in this one which makes me happy because she is my favorite. The events in this installment will change everything. Secrets are learned. Alliances formed. I think I liked this one even better than the first book. I can't wait to see how it all ends in book 3. This book is fun and exciting and I highly recommend this series.

I love this series! It’s light with some bad ass babysitter witchy good times.I really enjoyed Esme as a character; with so much happening there has to be a book three!

I have elected not to read and review this book due to time constraints. Thank you for the opportunity.

This book was good, just definitely starts leaning more into the fantasy of the book. I really enjoyed the first one before they started doing witchy things, but that is probably a me problem. I also would've liked more babysitting in the book because i think it kind of strayed from that aspect.

Oh my this was seriously so entertaining! Despite its minor flaws, it was so fun to read, there was so much humor in this book that it made the reading experience that much better!!! If you enjoy witches and cute and silly humor then this is for you!

Ahhh...the Buffy vibes I get from this book are amazing!

After the events of the first book, our MC's are back! They are responsible for planning the party that the Sisterhood will require after a Summit.

New characters, funny plots, and the overall insanity!

This was a super fun and crazy sequel! I am a sucker for witches. There is a great sisterhood and girls protecting girls vibe that I am just here for. I am already looking forward to the next book in the series.

I love Kate Williams work. From the first time I began this series I fell in love. The adventure is so great. I fell in love with the characters immediately. This book was even better than the first.

God, I adore Kate Williams writing!
I really enjoyed this one, I think it was a nice addition to the trilogy and confirms a lot of things that I thought from the beginning regarding the Synod and the Sitters in general; though that could just be from years of watching BTVS. I enjoyed the characters once again, especially Esme and Janice, and the new additions of the New York Sitters. I can't say I enjoy Cassandra, I feel like we're supposed to see her as one of the good guys but she is just in general not a pleasant person, curse or no curse, she just comes off as a spoiled brat. Dion makes me sad, what has become of him as well, but neither Dion or Cassandra ruin the book, honestly.
One thing I did wish was that this one wrapped up a lot of things in the book, but it really just left me with more questions and a bit confused, which is why it's only 4 stars. All in all though, I cannot wait for the 3 and final book and what Kate Williams does in the future.

This is the second book in a series, and I highly recommend reading book 1, The Babysitter’s Coven, first, so that you understand a lot of what is happening.

This story takes place over the span of a few days and picks up shortly after the first one. Everything started around Halloween for Esme and Cassandra, now it’s almost Christmas. In some ways a lot has changed over that time, but in other ways much is the same. Esme and Cassandra are now more secure in their powers and things are going well-ish on the Sitter front, but things in their personal lives are pretty shaky… especially Esme’s.

Esme is still a combination of strong, her dedication to the children she babysits and the people she protects; and fragile, with her ever-growing concerns about her dad. She puts other’s needs before her own, but is forced to put the secrets of the Sitters ahead of her loyalty to her best friend, Janis, and she hates it.

And while the story is still told from Esme’s point of view, we get to see more vulnerability from Cassandra this time around. Though she does continue to have a hard outer shell and is infinitely quirky.

We are introduced to several new Sitters in this story, and it appears they will continue to play a part in the next installment as well. I enjoyed learning more about Sitter history and the Sitter lifestyle through them. And while in the beginning, it looks like they are distrustful of Cass and Esme, the others ultimately have their backs and become great friends.

I don’t want to say too much more to avoid spoilers, but I will say that this book did not disappoint and was a lot of fun, though it did have it’s emotional moments as well. I’m definitely looking forward to book 3!
