this was a lot of fun to read, the characters were great and I really enjoyed reading this book. I liked the author's writing style

This is good but not great. It has an entertaining premise and plot, and includes some decent humor. In some ways it was ahead of it's time since it was published 20 years ago and such a bizarre scenarios would seem totally ridiculous (and they are but so is what's going on now). The author's imagination is apparent and I enjoyed this overall. Good for a lighthearted read.

Thanks very much for the review copy!!

This really IS the badger game. Please read my full review on Goodreads. Thank you NetGalley and CamCat Books for an ARC of this book.

This book was super interesting. Just when you think you can put your finger on what's about to happen, the plot twists again, often adding a new wrinkle into the story. The writing itself wasn't as exciting as the plot, but it got more engaging as the story went on. There were many fascinating parallels to the world today, which I assume is why it's being reprinted now after all these years. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

I am sorry to say that I really couldn't get very far with this book. The dull beginning and the morose protagonist were off-putting in themselves, but it was the casually sexist way in which his secretary was introduced that had me reeling. Really, is it ever necessary or appropriate characterisation to introduce a character by the attractiveness of their legs? I couldn't stomach the objectification.

I am sure that there is a lot that this work has to offer, but sadly I couldn't force myself to that point . It just wasn't for me.
