Oh how I wanted to love this book. Premise was interesting. It’s certainly my kind of story. I am a sailor so that part also intrigued me. But....not likeable characters; it took waaaaaaay too long to develop the story. I will say, however, the ending NEARLY made me change my stars! Quite a nice way to wrap it up....

Full of twists and turns. I did not see the ending coming. It kept me turning pages. Interesting insight into twins.

I felt like I was reading a rough draft that was waiting for people to say you need edits in some parts and better detail/exp[anation in others. I figured out the main plot twist very early on and the book dragged a LOT in parts and was rushed in others. In a great thriller there is not drag just filling in details to toy with your mind. The male characters were all very flat to me and at least 2 of them could have and should have been more fleshed out so the readers connect with them, even to hate them. Twins who are in a fight with their 5 other siblings for an over 100 million dollar inheritance. The twins are not as close as one would think and both have done some shady things. LOTS of talk on sailing and yachts. Paring out some of the details here and adding more to the character development would have been amazing. Family drama and lies. All predictable.. Thanks Netgalley for the ARC. Glad I did not use a Book of the Month Credit for this book.

Sibling rivalry with a life changing inheritance at stake. A "good" twin and a "bad" twin, but which is which? Although what's going on was a bit obvious, the how of it was well done.

I think it was pretty obvious early on that this would be a play on the Parent Trap, but the whole idea of the inheritance and the race to have a baby was an added element that made it interesting. We almost had a happy ending, but I have to say I didn't really see those last couple of pages coming. Well worth the read!

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. This is a thriller with twins, mistaken identities, and varied personalities and motives. It read very quickly and kept me engaged (that's why I rounded up to 4). However, I didn't really like any of the characters, was appalled at the decisions they made, and couldn't stop reading.

Iris and Summer are mirror twins. Summer is like her name- bright, happy, and liked by all. Iris often feels second best and like she's in the orbit of her twin's life. Another component of the story is that their deceased father ties a very interesting stipulation to his fortune which has impacted all of his children.

Summer calls Iris to help transport the family yacht home. This is where the story starts- with a high seas voyage where something horrible happens.... and Iris has the opportunity to live the life she's always wanted. Will she? How will that work out? If you're curious, this book might be for you.

Thanks to HarperCollins, the Book Club Girls Facebook Group, and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a story of twin sisters, one who seems to have it all and the other one whose life isn't quite where she wanted it to be. They are sailing a yacht together from Thailand to the Seychelles. Only one of them is truly experienced in sailing. What could possibly go wrong?

This isn't your typical good twin, bad twin story. Summer and Iris are mirror twins. I found this book so intriguing. I thought all along I knew the plot twist. When it happened I thought...eh there it is...but that wasn't it! I love when that happens. A really good, twisty, sinister, little tale was unfolding and I missed it! Go in blind, you'll be glad you did.

Any story with twins who take on the identity of the other is a bit of a stretch of the imagination for me. I pretty much knew what was going to happen, but the ending still seemed a little abrupt. It might have been better if there wasn't such a sudden disclosure - I was almost going to go with a 3-star review, but there were a few jarring bits right at the end.

This is my problem with a lot of psychological thrillers - they'll be going along pretty well and then the last 5-10% is a disappointment. But I'm always on the lookout for the ones that don't fall into that pit.

There is a lot to like if you enjoy reading about incredibly wealthy characters living a life I can't even imagine. Iris and Summer are on the family yacht, sailing from Australia to Thailand and Seychelles, for example. And when they're not on the yacht, they might be in the penthouse or the beach house. The characters didn't have a lot of redeeming qualities.

I guess I just sort of feel meh. On to the next!

My thanks to William Morrow and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! This was one heck of a book. Iris and Summer, twins. Travelling together but something happens, leaving Iris alone chasing after the life that was to be her sisters...a life she always dreamed of. Will things work out in the end? What happened to Summer? You have to read this one to find out.

Twisty story that keeps you guessing and changing your feelings about each character. I thought I knew the direction the story was going, but was thrown another curveball

Summer and Iris are mirror image twins. Summer is the perfect one, and Iris is in her shadow. When Summer calls frantic for Iris to come and help said their yacht due to an emergency, Iris agrees, and is back feeling inferior once again. Iris and Summer are sailing the yacht from Thailand to Africa and halfway through the trip, Summer vanishes. That’s all I’m going to say. The blurb tells you more but I went into it blind and it was good that way!

I enjoyed this book, especially the last half - and the ending - so, so good!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was aggressively over the top and campy, like the show Revenge on a boat. There's a LOT about boats, but I think boats are cool as hell. 4 stars for plot, 1 additional star for boats.

A twisted tale of identical twins, stolen identities, and the race for a huge inheritance. Started out kind of boring and a bit sappy for me . . . two cutesy little miss beauty contestants and lots of whining . . . but then the fun starts! A dysfunctional family full of jealousy, greed, and anger; a yachting disaster in the middle of the ocean; and then ???—surprise after surprise! Not a literary masterpiece but definitely an entertaining read.

I've always been intrigued by twins but after reading - The Girl In the Mirror by Rose Carlyle - I think twins will intrigue me just a little more. This story of twins and their connection and the ability to switch and fool others into not knowing which twin is which takes "twinning" to new heights. This book has more twists and turns than I could have ever imagined. It was a jaw dropper!

Identical twin sisters Summer and Iris are as much alike as they are different. Summer seems to have it all - husband, home, wealth while Iris has none of these things. Their father's will states that the entire $100mil inheritance will skip their generation and go in its entirety to the first born grandchild. While on the open ocean bringing back the family yacht, Summer disappears overboard and after a failed search Iris sails the boat home. During that time she comes to realize the benefit of assuming the life of her sister and becoming pregnant before any of her step-siblings. And that's just the beginning of the story. There are several twists and surprises until the final pages. Not to be missed.

This book was a super quick read and had a ton of twists that I did not see coming. I thought the storyline was super unique and interesting. However, I did find a few parts unrealistic. However, the book kept my attention the whole time and the ending blew my mind!

The Girl in the Mirror is a bit of a slow burn that quickly picks up pace. What seemed like mundane details reveals themselves to be cleverly embedded elements of the greater plot. The author, Rose, goes so far as to include here name as part of the storyline! The devil is definitely in the details of The Girl in the Mirror. All of the twists and turns culminate in the final grand reveal of the ultimate plot twist. A page turner that is filled with possibilities, Don't miss out this clever read.

Overall a good book. The twin switcheroo concept has been repeatedly, but this one does a good job of not becoming too tiresome. My only drawback to this page turner is....parts of the book would not get out of the main characters head & seemed to become a repetitious, tedious conversation she was having with herself. Maybe a little less on her internal conversations with herself & flesh out a few other parts and it would have been superb. Would rate it 3.5 stars & worth a read for sure.
