Unfortunately, I guessed the twist so the story fell flat. And there were several parts that were not believable.

Wow! What a read! I loved the descriptions of sailing. I felt I was on the boat. I like how the author had you wondering about 1 twin then switch your allegiance to the other. Had to reread the ending, since I stayed up until 3am to finish it. Will definitely recommend to friends!

This suspenseful novel begins with the story of twin girls who are closer than close. They share everything, except happiness. Summer has it all - looks, personality, the golden girl. Iris, meanwhile, sees herself as less than Summer and is constantly trying to catch up. Their father passes away and leaves his fortune to the first of his multiple children that marries and produces an heir.. So the race is on. There are lots of twists and turns that keep you reading and the ending was a big surprise.

Carlyle lulls the reader into the story (or what you think it is). Then you feel like you’re in the doldrums. Then she takes the trade winds and whips you about. A few times. What an ending!

This is the absolute best thriller I have read this year, 2020!!!! Summer Rose and Iris are mirror twins and identical, but one is a very evil sister, the twists and plot changes are EXPERTLY accomplished and this book is a delight!!! Nothing is what you think and once you start reading you won’t be able to put this book down!!! The cultural and nautical aspects are a bonus and you just May fall in love!! This was not an enjoyable read for me. The characters were so unlikable that I had a difficult time continuing to read but I kept going. The “twist” at the end was very predictable. There were definitely no surprises.

Iris and Summer are mirror-image twins, whose own mother can't tell them apart. As one twin assumes the identity of the other, to pull off the ultimate "switch", it is hard to believe that no one can tell them apart....that no one catches on. But in the end this carefully planned switch all begins to make sense. Just when you have it all figured out, another twist throws everything out the window. I read this book in one day and could not put it down until I saw how it ended.

When Summer calls Iris to Thailand to help her sail their yacht to the Seychelles, she jumps at the chance to help the sister that she envies. When tragedy strikes In the middle of the ocean, Iris has to make a quick decision. Will she be able to take over Summer’s perfect life and earn the money? Or will she be found out?
The Girl in the Mirror was hard to put down and focused on family, greed and manipulation. I had to read the ending more than once because it was so twisted and unexpected. I would definitely read another book from this author. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc.

Twins - they said often times they aren't distinguished by their physical looks but by their behavior. This was a story about what happened when Iris dreamed of becoming her twin sister, Summer. Always be aware of what you want as sometimes it can happen! And then there can be unexpected surprises. Nevertheless, I loved this story. It was a good page turner into the night and came together at the end.

Although this is a definite page-turner, the unlike able main characters were a stumbling block for me. The vivid description of exotic (to me) locations were welcomed in our current world of no travel, as were some of the mechanics of sailing. Although the ending was somewhat satisfying, it still left many questions. Lightly recommended read.

A psychological thriller about twin rivalry - Iris and Summer are beautiful and are identical twins to look at but perhaps not so identical in nature. I don’t want to give too much away but this was one of those books that keep you up late at night wanting to find out what happened. It is also one of those books that stays with you. Tension and suspense abound. A great read and highly recommended.

I have identical twin grandsons who are now in the 4th grade and I still have to ask, “which one are you?” Thus my initial interest in this book. I cannot tell you at this point when I got hooked. All I know is I lost several nights’ of sleep telling myself...just a few more pages, one more chapter! I love trying to figure out where the plot is going to take me and whose bad or good, but the last third of this book took me by surprise. The ending was a shocker! No peeking!!

This book was filled with plot twists and events along the way that questioned what you believed to be true. I loved this book and read it in one day. You think you understand the plot, and just like that, everything changes. There were many suspenseful moments in this fast paced novel and I definitely recommend it.

Central to the story are 23-year-old mirror twin sisters. Narrator Iris is recently separated and has harbored a lifelong jealousy toward her sister, Summer who enjoys a blissful marriage with her successful, old-money husband Adam in Australia. They own a 60’ sailing yacht, Bathsheba, which the sisters pilot from Phuket, Thailand to the Seychelles where Adam’s family maintains a sprawling compound. Their route brings them through the Andaman Sea and the Indian Ocean, sailing past the Maldives, Somalia and Madagascar.

Summer announces her pregnancy just prior to the launching of their journey, so her child becomes the presumptive heir to the $100 million fortune. Always the nicer twin, Summer assures Iris: “We can’t share the inheritance with you, but we can give you our own money, Adam’s money I should say. We’ll make sure you never go without. Adam’s very generous as I’m sure you’ll find out.” What happens on the yacht forms the crux of this twisty, can’t-put-down, high stakes thriller.

Meanwhile in Australia, another potential heir, the twins‘ half-sister Virginia, is pregnant by Richie, her cousin by marriage. Iris is unhappy that Summer has bested her in the baby race, but is even less happy with her half-sister’s pending motherhood. “Virginia is nice enough but she’s boring. I don’t even know what her hobbies are, apart from incest and stealing other peoples‘ fortunes.”

Ben, the twins’ younger gay brother in New York, has been out of touch with the family. Iris suspects that Ben may have produced an heir without the family’s knowledge. It’s a finely crafted, fast-paced debut novel. Highly recommended!

The Girl in the Mirror shows us twin sisters who look the same on the outside, but are vastly different inside. Summer is the first born, who to her twin sister Iris, seems to have the easy life: handsome husband, home, etc.

Summer requests Iris help her sail her yacht to the Seychelles, to which Iris jumps at, wanting to leave her recent divorce behind. During their voyage, Iris wakes up to find Summer has gone missing. When she lands at her destination, Summer's husband awaits her, mistaking her to be Summer, and the lies and cover ups start to accumulate for Iris.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially the last half where the twists and turns kept coming. Wonderful thriller!

This was just not the right book for me. I was not enjoying the language or where the story was going. Did not finish after reading a little over half the novel.

The plot of "The Girl in the Mirror" is a little wild and soap opera-y, but it was a very twisty, well-written thriller!
