This has been on my TBR for several years now, and I can’t seem to make myself finish it. I’m sorry! I’m sure someone will love it, but it just isn’t for me.

Fast-paced, action-packed.... and maybe necessary to read book one (sadly I did not before reading this one).
I wasn't a huge fan of this book but I must say the writing was great, the story itself just wasn't one that I loved.

I really wanted to like this book, but the writing was awkward, dialogue was stiff, and the plot was not interesting. Sorry.

Maybe I’m just not in the mood for these types of historical romances at the moment but I’m going to DNF this one. I might come back to it another day, but I doubt it.

After reading the first book and just falling in love with the Ladies, i could not wait to read about Faith whose prospect marriage partner was under scrutiny in book one. Nicholas Ellsworth, Duke of Breckenridge who has agreed to marry Faith seems to be respected by the crowd in London but little is actually know about this well travelled Duke. The ladies set out to investigate this man (hoping that he is not a spy) before Faith marries him.

As expected, he finds out that these ladies are snooping into his past and while he is willing to marry Faith not really for her dowry but because of her luscious curves and wit, he knows that their snooping can only lead to danger. And it does lead to danger (kidnapping and torture) when he and Faith are locked up and torture!

I really enjoyed this book, a good mix of historical romance with some crime fighting and of course, good, beautiful gore.

I requested this from NetGalley because while I didn't like parts of the first one, I really liked the writing style and I was very interested in the other women in the series. And I was right, the writing style continues to be really nicely done and the plot/relationship drama for Faith was far more interesting to me than Poppy in the first one.

In this one, Faith corners her fiance to try and test him and see whether it is worth trying to fight for the engagement, especially when he is just waiting for to break it off to save her reputation. Then there are French spies and danger and lots of the two of them working out their relationship when they are sure Nick is going to die soon. And then Nick having to deal with his job or his guilt over his job affecting Faith.

I really enjoyed the first three quarters of this book. I loved the claustrophic nature of Nick and Faith being stuck in the house together, under threat and knowing it was only by sheer chance that things would turn out alright. The author did not shy away from Nick being greviously wounded and Faith taking care of him because of that and apparently characters putting on a stoic, practical face as they cared for their loved one near death is a trope I really like. I loved how the villains were set up, I liked the side characters and I loved how Nick and Faith's relationship developed.

And then we came to the last quarter of the book and it just felt tacked on for extra drama. I would have loved to have seen more of the two characters dealing with the capitivity and torture, rather than another ploy by the villain which felt foolish and just an excuse to have the rest of the Wallflowers in the story more. It felt crammed in and I would have much preferred the last part of the book to focus on Nick and Faith and their relationship, rather than just a cheap plot device to do something Nick was already planning on doing anyway.

There also was a lot of 'not like other girls' with the Wallflowers from both Faith and Nick's POV and I really didn't care for it. Thankfully it died away when the suspense started to ramp up.

I liked this more than the first one but the ending was more than a little disappointing.

This book took a while to get into but one I did, I really enjoyed it. However, I felt like I was missing things as I did not read the first book of this series and didn't know it was part of a series.

Faith and Nicholas are both thoughtful characters who are thrown together into a situation with heightened emotions that really intensified their connection.

Once I read one book from this series I had to read another one. This was great. Liked everything I read this. Read it.

First things first, i was so confused at the beginning of the book, there were a lot of details that i presume were mentioned on the previous books in the series, which i didn't read so it was kind of tiring trying to keep up with the tidbits the author gave us to catch up.
Secondly, the action started way early for my taste, i was there for some nice romance with a spy of a main character just to give the book a little bit of an edge; instead, the edge was there the untire time, which was so exhausting, not gonna lie.
Also, the communication between the two characters was non-existent, they always assume what the other is thinking and reacting upon their presumption.
Lastly, i didn't like their romance, it was mostly physical, their intimate time was the main focus in their story and that was a little bit of a turn off for me.
Overall, not my cup of tea.

Misleading a Duke is way more entertaining and action packed than I expected. It is an arranged marriage trope, but it plays out much differently than any I’ve read. Faith, a wallflower with an unhealthy imagination and friends too ready to encourage her lesser self, is betrothed to Nicholas, an English spy, who isn’t overly keen on the idea of marrying a suspicious busybody. Despite their reservations, both are reluctant to call things off. So Faith finds out a way to get to know her betrothed and all of his secrets. Stranded together, the couple find themselves in danger from vengeful French spies, with whom Nicholas was involved, and of falling in love.

A fun and romantic novel about a young woman trying to get it right, but going about it in the wrong ways. I finished this book in a weekend and would recommend this to anyone wanting a fun novel to take on your next trip or even just for a read on a sunny day outside. #NetGalley

This book was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the spin on this historical romance to include villains and some dangerous situations. I found this added drama element to be exciting and the book became a real page turner. One aspect I found irritating was the overuse of Lady Faith mentioning her "wallflower" group. This became repetitive.

This is the second book in the Wallflowers of West Lane series. I read the first book last year and loved it! "Misleading a Duke" was also very good, but I didn't like it as much. I loved the relationship between Nick and Faith (even if their lack of communication can get frustrating). I enjoyed how this book focused on them getting to know each other and making amends for what had happened in the first book. I did not expect this book to be so suspenseful and dangerous. We knew that The Duke of Breckenridge was a spy from the first book, but this sequel took an ugly turn of revenge and torture, which I was not ready for. Overall, I love the Wallflowers...their banter, their defiance of society, and their relationship with each other. It is so nice to read about such strong women in historical romance. This book needed more of the four of them together. I am still interested in this series and will pick up "Capturing the Earl" when I get a chance.

WOW!!! I did not expect the book to be as exciting as it was. There was plenty of angst between Nick and Faith as they were betrothed and did not know each other. As Faith tries to determine Nick's character the world comes crashing down. Misunderstandings, mistrust, suspicion but finally a truce. But just when they began to get along Nick's dangerous past came and threatened their lives and those who worked at the estate. But the trouble did not end there. Oh no. The Crown sent Nick back to the continent one more time to retrieve indispensable critical information from the man who had previous almost killed him. In the meantime, the relationship between Faith and Nick reminds me of Evening Primrose flower which only blooms open at night. During the day Faith worried she would not be able to handle the danger Nick is put in. Nick worries he will lose Faith because of his connection to the Crown. At night however, their minds were filled with passionate thoughts of each other. Still, no one expected the man who at first threatened their lives to return. But he did and took all four of the Wallflowers as hostage and threatened to kill one every hour after sunset if Nick did not return what he stole. Although Nick and his friends came through to save the women, the spy took Faith as hostage and Nick negotiated a trade. They did and the spy escaped AGAIN. This is a definite page turner, no boring balls, no morning calls, no musicals or plays this is strictly an action-adventure romance. The story was unpredictable at every turn and was filled with twists and turns that surprised and shocked me. This is a must read if you like thrilling action romance books. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed the spy aspect of this book. As with all of Fenichel’s books, it covers difficult topics without keeping it too dark.

Not at all realistic but a slightly different take on the over used wallflower meets handsome/ rich/ titled man.

Lady Faith Landon is betrothed to the Duke of Breckenridge, Nicholas Ellsworth, but with the amount of secrets that lie beneath his exterior, Faith remains suspicious of his actions. She can't help but wonder what those secrets are, even if the truth is far from what she expected.

Nicholas Ellsworth, the Duke of Breckenridge, has a strong attraction to Lady Faith and he can't seem to take his eyes off her, even if her past actions in trying to discover who Nick truly is has irritated him. Nonetheless, attraction always beats irritation and for this instance, Faith and Nick fight to discover this attraction.

I gave Misleading A Duke four stars, enjoying the intense plot that Faith and Nick go through to truly find the love that they hold for each other. I found that the hardships that they both went through was quite enjoyable and was what made Misleading the Duke pleasant to read, while the romance between Faith and Nick was strong, for me it felt that the plot was more the story than their romance. That being said, their romance was equally as amazing and I loved them both very much.

While Faith believes throughout the story that Nick is hiding deep secrets, it is known that he is really a secret agent for the English crown and that he himself has gone through quite the past which is why Faith was uncomfortable with not knowing anything about Nick when they first meet.

What I loved about Misleading the Duke is that no matter how irritated they both felt about each other, they both couldn't fight off this simple attraction that they felt toward each other. And amazingly, it only grew stronger when they were forced into an unpleasant situation. They both came to discover that irritation was really the opposite of what they were feeling toward each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed Misleading the Duke and loved every second of Faith and Nick's romance.

A fast paced story with good writing. The plot was OK and the characters interesting.
It started like it was halfway through the story which I didn't understand as there wasn't any buildup.
On the whole, a good book.

Lady Faith has betrayed Duke Nicholas by investigating into his past. His anger is also fueled by the fact that he is arranged by her mother to marry him. They have the option of having a trustless, loveless marriage or breaking off the engagement; both of which are equally as unappealing.
With the help of the Wallflowers, Faith and Nick must wade their way through learning to trust and building a relationship when their lives are put in danger.

I haven't read the first book in this series, and at the beginning of this book, I felt a bit lost because of it. The author writes about Nicholas storming across the floor angry with Faith like this incident had already happened and the reader should've known what was going on. Maybe it was in the first book, maybe I was lost?
After that though, not having read the first book in the series did not hinder the story at all, and it could be read alone.

This book had much more action than I was anticipating! I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that the romance aspect of it was developed through adversity and growing together. It was sweet to see both of their hearts soften and learn and grow together.

If you're looking for your typical romance book, this may not be for you. However, it's a great period piece with a good story.

I was taken by surprise by how quickly this historical romance throw us into action plot-wise but also with the romance between Lady Faith and the Duke of Breckenridge, Nicholas. I haven't read the first book in the series so I can't help but think you might have an insight as to their beginnings in it. It didn't bother me too much not to know everything but I still felt like their first kiss, and proposal happened very quickly (even though they were technically already betrothed). Now, the fact that they got captured/kidnapped by three spies might be the reason why their romance developed quickly.

Overall, this was a nice read but unfortunately for me I didn't love it. My problem was that after reading an intense and immersive book about spies not too long ago, I couldn't help but feeling detached from this plot that didn't feel very convincing. I was not convinced by the plot or romance. I'm sure many other readers will love it more than I did though!
