A Death Long Overdue is a wonderful cozy mystery with an intriguing plot that kept me guessing until the culprit was revealed. The characters are very likeable and make you want to return to this series with every release. The romantic subplot was sweet, and made for a good respite from the suspense in the story. I received an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC. I have read several books in this series but not all. This one was a very enjoyable addition to the series. I also thought it was funny that in the story the author referred to the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop series by Vicki Delany since she is the same person as Eva Gates. But really, books, librarians, a cat and a lighthouse. What more could anyone want from a cozy mystery?

Lucy’s boss Bertie James is hosting her 40th anniversary, college reunion at the library. Lucy & the others have put together photos & info on how libraries have changed over the years. After the reunion a small group take flashlights & go for a walk along the boardwalk, only to find the drowned body of the lighthouse libraries former director Helena Sanchez. Now Lucy has to figure out this murder mystery but the victim wasn’t a very well liked person so the suspect list is high.

I’m finally caught up! This is the latest (upcoming) book in the Lighthouse Library series & now I will have actually have to wait for the next one. Luckily it’s a really great one to end on before a break away from the Outer Banks, after spending most of August reading the series. It’s another great book, tbh I liked the first books (enough to keep reading obviously) but I’m loving the last several even more. This one involves the reunion, missing jewels & a lot about the past & secrets, which I really enjoyed. The author has really allowed her regular characters to grow & change, I’m delighted where they all are at. She always writes interesting new suspects & motives. I’m sad to be all caught up on the series but I’ll be ready to read the next book!

P.S. the Canadian in me really appreciated the presence of Nanaimo bar ☺️

I got this ARC from netgalley and crooked lane books so a big thanks to them for a book in one of my favourite series.

I love this cozy mystery series and the books keep getting better! A Death Long Overdue is the 7th book in the popular A Lighthouse Library Mystery series. Lucy Richardson is a librarian in a library in a lighthouse. It is definitely made up but it is a fun idea and adds to the ambiance of the series. Lucy's boss, Bertie, is getting together with some of her college friends who are all attending their 40th college class reunion. Bertie runs into the previous library director, Helena Sanchez, who Bertie replaced when Helena retired. She wasn't very popular but Bertie invites her to a little social gathering at the lighthouse library along with her college classmates for old times sake. They all go for a walk on the boardwalk and Helena disappears. They find her but she is dead. Lucy and friends are curious what happened to Helena. There is a small group of suspects but I was kept guessing until the end. Lucy's boyfriend Connor is a nice addition to this book. This was a very enjoyable cozy mystery! #NetGalley. #ADeathLongOverdue

Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC of the newest entry into the Lighthouse Library Mystery series. This is one of my favorite librarian cozy mystery series and this 7th book did not disappoint! Lucy is a grown-up Nancy Drew and such an enjoyable character!

I’m new to the 'Lighthouse Library Mystery' series by Eva Gates. However, I enjoyed it. If you like cozy mysteries, this is a great series to try. Lucy is a librarian at the Lighthouse Library which is in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. The library is situated in an old lighthouse and Lucy gets to live above it. How fun would that be! She is the owner of the library cat, Charles, who spends his day relaxing or causing trouble in the library. In the ‘A Death Long Overdue,’ there is a 40th class reunion for a group of librarians. The former director of the Lighthouse Library, Helena Sanchez, is invited to visit the library during one of the class reunion events. Unfortunately, Helena ends up floating in the water later that night which kicks off the mystery.

The story line held my interest, especially when the murder seemed to be connected to an old copy of the 'Celestine Prophecy' – Talk about a flashback to the 90s! It took me a while to figure out who did it. Overall, it had everything I look for in a cozy mystery—a small town, caring community, a great faux detective/protagonist (Lucy), and a love interest. And, I found a new book to read that was mentioned in the text. I plan to read more in this series.

The only things I didn’t enjoy were that some the librarian statements or practices seem out of place or stereotypical. While that did bother me, I was curious enough to finish the book and found myself enjoying the story.

Thank you to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for an advance copy of the book.

This was charming. Charles the cat is adorable, and spends just the right amount of time 'on screen.' He's present, but not overwhelming. Lucy, our main protagonist, is intelligent and makes good decisions. Clues are scattered about so the reader can work out the mystery along with Lucy, but they're not pointed out with a big neon flashing sign.

This is the first book I've read in this series, or by this author, and I'm looking forward to having time to dive in the previous books.

I'm doing a video book talk for my library that will go live in a few weeks and I'm already planning to talk about how much I enjoyed this and strongly recommend it. This is a nice, solid, well done cozy mystery.

I really enjoyed the book.

Lucy was an amazing lead character. She seemed to have a pretty level head on her shoulders and though she did investigate the murder, she wasn't overbearing about it or off getting herself into ridiculous predicaments like a lot of heroines in these sort of books do.

The story flowed well and kept my attention. I wanted to keep reading so I could find out who did it, though the end result was one of my top three picks.

I'll definitely be looking into the other books of this series as i want to see more of the library as well as Lucy and her friends.

So much fun to visit the Lighthouse Library and the characters. I would love to live in a town with people like this. Not that everyone is as sweet as Josie's pastries; if they were there would be no mystery. The mystery was well plotted with surprises and enough suspects to keep it interesting.

There was a funny minor story line between Connor and Lucy. It was sweet and will change things. I felt a bit old when they described some library materials, from the 1990s that I remember growing up, they were using in a museum exhibit. Lots of libraries were still using card catalogs in the 1990s.

A fun story and a good continuing series.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the ARC in exchange for a impartial review.

A reunion event for a group of librarians takes a tragic twist when the former library director is found dead. Why? What connection did she have to the group gathered at the Library and who could want her dead? Assistant director Lucy is drawn in to the investigation and the history of town. An enjoyable mystery for a lazy weekend.

Thanks NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books and Eva Gates for a free copy to review.
I haven't read any books of the series though now I'd like to fetch the rest. A fun cozy mystery in a historic lighthouse bookstore , a smart funny protagonist and a cat, what more to ask for?
I loved the book and I think Crooked Lane Books are becoming my favorite publisher.

I very much enjoyed this book however it is a series and I only read this one so there was things that were talking about in previous books that I had not read however it did not take away from the story at all I very much enjoyed it I love the fact that it's set in a library with the librarian being a detective and trying to figure out the murder.

I only read the previous book in this series, but I enjoyed it very much, and so when this one became available for request I jumped at the chance to read it. In Death Long Overdue Bertie is having a college reunion and,of course, someone gets murdered. Lucy starts investigating and finds out that the case is somehow connected to the theft of a famous diamond from 25 years ago. The who and the why were pretty obvious I'd say. But I think I will go and read the previous books in this series as well as read the new ones when they come out be6o enjoy the atmosphere that Eva Gates creates. This is only the second book I read from this series, but when I opened it and started reading I immediately felt like I was coming home. So cozy and I had a wonderful time reading it. Also, something exciting happened closer to the end and I can't wait to read the next book.

I knew within the first few chapters that I would love this book. This is the seventh book in the Lighthouse Library Mysteries which features librarian Lucy Richardson, I haven't read the previous entries and had no difficulties following along so it would work wonderfully as a standalone but after reading it I want to read the earlier entries!. The author smoothly introduced the back story and the residents of Nags Head and Lucy's coworkers at the Bodie Island Lighthouse Library. The descriptions of the Outer Banks area of North Carolina are an added plus.

I thought the mystery was good and even though I had my suspicions of the murderer I didn't have a motive. and others had motives as well. There is also a secondary mystery of the theft of a heirloom necklace worth millions that may or may not be related. Lucy did a great job of tying together all the clues and then setting a trap for the murderer.

I received an ARC from Crooked Lane Books via Net Galley. All opinions expressed are my own.

A Death Long Overdue is the latest in Eva Gates Lighthouse Library mystery series and is one of the best, in my opinion anyway. Reunions can be deadly as Bertie finds out when she invites her classmates to a reception at the Lighthouse Library. This book capture the essence of the Outer Banks and reunites us with our favorite (and some not-so-favorite) characters. Louise Jane is more outrageous than ever. Lucy is working to solve the case and with so many red herrings this book will keep you engaged until you turn the last page.

'A Death Long Overdue' was absolutely delightful. I have an affection for the characters with all of their quirks. The mystery was sharp, and kept me guessing throughout. I especially enjoyed the little surprise near the ending, which leaves me with lots to look forward to in more. I'd highly recommend this entire series.

A great good read. The murderer, I believe, was pretty obvious but it was a fun trip to get there. I had not read the previous books, but she did a good job of filling in the background so I didn't feel lost starting in the middle of the series.

This 7th book in the Lighthouse Library mystery series is another delightful installment in this terrific series. I absolutely love this series featuring librarian Lucy and her friends, coworkers, and some quirky characters.

This one, involving Bertie, the library director, and her 40th college reunion featured a lot of twists and turns and both the past and the present and was, once again, quite enjoyable.

I'd highly recommend this cozy series!!

Life is too short to read bad books. As far as I got, this is a bad book. I'm not posting a review on Goodreads or anywhere else, because I read very little of this book before I gave up in disgust.("'Meow,' added CHarles from his chair": Oh, God, it's one of THOSE cozy mysteries.) If you really want me to, I will.
