Lana Lee is back & the trouble never stops at Asia Village. Lana is busy running her family restaurant Ho-Lee Noodle House when she witnesses a car accident on the way to meet her police officer boyfriend Friday night after work. Both drivers are tough, unforgiving women & Lana is caught up in it as she was a witness. When one of the women turns up dead is Asia Village’s beauty salon, Lana will again find herself trying to solve the crime.

I’ll start off by saying I love Lana Lee, I love the series & adore Chien’s writing. There’s no negative to follow....it’s another rave review for the latest book! I’m always happy to be back in Cleveland, back at Asia Village surrounded by all the wonderful characters the author has created. This time around we get to know Jasmine from the beauty salon & a couple of the Majong Matrons a little better, it was only a matter of time until these characters were caught up in one of the mysteries. I like that Lana now has a reputation for helping solve crimes so people are coming to her. Overall it’s another charming, fun book & a great addition to the series. Now I sadly have to wait for the next book but I will be reading it without a doubt!

Killer Kung Pao is the newest book in a series by Vivien Chen and has become my favorite cozy mystery book series. The interaction of the main character with her family and friends is very relatable. The mystery is always accompanied with humor and fun. Fast paced read with a happy ending until the next murder That needs to be solved! Thanks to NetGalley and the author along with her publisher for letting me read an advanced copy of Killer Kung Pao.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of KILLER KUNG PAO (Book 6 of the Noodle Shop Mysteries) by Vivien Chien in exchange for an honest review. As Lana Lee’s leaving her family Chinese restaurant in Cleveland’s Asia Village, she’s looking forward to spending some quality weekend time with her boyfriend. However, once in the parking lot, she witnesses an accident where the cold and rude June Yi, owner of Yi’s Tea and Bakery in Asia Village, rear-ends the extremely litigious Mildred “Millie” Mao. The incident initiates a war between the two willful women. The next day, Lana goes to the salon to change her hair color, but she leaves with half-done hair and a new mystery to solve. Both June and Millie were at the salon, along with seemingly half the women of Asia Village, when the lights go out. When they turn back on, there’s screams and Millie’s dead body.

I enjoy this series and liked this book. I recommend the book to fans of the series and the series to fans of Vivien Chien and cozy mysteries featuring murder, Asian communities, small businesses, and family drama.

Fun cozy set in a Chinatown salon. Vivien Chien brings to life her characters and their personalities in this delightful mystery. A car accident...did it lead to murder? Who is supporting whom? Will shops have to close? Family takes care of family first. Will another crime happen before it is solved?

I love mysteries and I love Chinese food. This book was a match made in heaven! Although this is the sixth book in a series, I never felt confused by the action or characters. The author did a great job of writing a book that could stand on its own even though its part of a series. It was a fun book, I didn't guess whodunnit at all!

Thank you to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Now, I'm off to look for the first five books!

Full disclosure, I absolutely adore this series. It was the first cozy series I got into and I always eagerly anticipate the next installment. This new story continues to enhance the background of the cast of characters that fill Asia Village. I particularly enjoyed learning more about the Matrons and some of the older folks, since much of the character development has focused (understandably) on Lana's friends or those involved with whatever crime is happening in the book. After witnessing a car accident between two women with longstanding grudges followed by the electrocution of one of them... Lana ends up getting involved in spite of her best judgement.

I'm particularly enjoying how Lana and Adam's relationship has grown into one with more trust and transparency. Plus his terms of endearment were cracking me up. Chien definitely sowed some seeds for future mysteries/plot lines - like what's going on with Anna May and her relationship? Inquiring minds want to know. As always, make sure to have some delicious Chinese food accessible because you'll end up with a craving for noodles by the time you're done reading.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The 6th book in the Noodle shop Mysteries is my favorite so far. A woman is elecctrocuted while poor Lana Lee is getting her hair "did" and murder is suspected. Lana is one of my favorite mystery protagonists so this was a delightful treat.

Lana Lee is everything that Nancy Drew wanted to be - humorous, intelligent and has a great taste in food and hair color!
This latest instalment does not disappoint, but it will leave you curious as to what the Apple Sidra tastes like....
I wish that this had gone deeper into Samantha's backstory and I'm very intrigued to see if Yuna is featured more prominently in the next book. (And what is up with Anna May's Henry??)
As always, Ms Chien is an engaging and compelling writer who will leave you craving your favourite Chinese takeaway after you're done reading. Ms Chien's writing is relatable, inviting and bingeable. Well done!!

A fantastic addition to the Noodle Shop Mystery Series. A well-written cozy mystery with a great cast of characters and a twist I did not see coming! I highly recommend this series.

Killer Kung Pao is a wonderful sixth installment to Vivien Chien's Noodle Shop Mystery series. I have loved each of the previous five in the series and I was so very happy to receive this e-arc of Killer Kung Pao. It did not disappoint!!

Lana is in the room when a murder happens so, of course, she begins to get curious about what actually happened. She is smart, determined, and driven, making her a wonderful amateur sleuth. I love the way Lana talks to everyone she knows and connects the dots to find the killers. It is always so fun to follow along on her journey to solve the mystery. As I've said before, I love this series and I can't wait to read more by Vivien Chien.

This series of cozy mysteries with an Asian protagonist is a delightful read (except for the murders, of course). Lana is a likable, curious, and fun character, and her down to earth narrative is a welcome escape from the world.

I wanted to like this book because I love the idea of a Chinese restaurant theme. But the book was so vacuous that it didn't satisfy me at all. I've tried other books in this series and had the same reaction. More depth, please!

Killer Kung Pao is the 6th book in the Noodle Shop mystery series and is a must read! I've been reading this series from the beginning and can't get enough of them. Lana is one of my favorite women sleuths and watching her in action is epic! Not only that, the secondary characters are wonderful (sometimes hilarious, especially her mother) and I love catching up with them! This entire series is just so much fun and I highly recommend each book!

Killer Kung Pao is the fifth book in a series set in an Asian shopping center in Cleveland. Lana runs her family's restaurant in Asia Village so she knows most of the other tenants and a lot of them share customers. So when Lana's at her friend Jasmine's salon and one of the other clients is murdered, it's not surprising that Lana lets herself get talked into figuring out who did it.

This is the first book in the series that I've read and snaps to the author for making it easy to dive right in with no trouble. I enjoyed the book, the characters were intriguing, the family relationships relatable, the food descriptions delicious and the mystery was solid. I'm definitely going to seek out the earlier books in the series.

This is still one of my absolute favorite cozy mystery series. Lana is trying to stay out of trouble. She has a side walk sale to organize, redecorate the family restaurant and spend more time with her boyfriend. She tries a new color on her hair and a murder occurs at the salon. She is asked to look into the murder and is on the case, hunting down clues and forming suppositions. This one wasn't as strong of a story as previous books have been, but it's still a good read. I like the Majong Matrons the best in this installment.

Lana Lee is a curious, sassy and intelligent woman. When a woman is killed in the hair salon Lana was at she is on the case. She upsets locals and friends trying to find the murderer. This was my first book in the series. Well developed characters that pull you in. The mystery was not easy to figure out. I will now go binge read the rest in the series.
