A sweet, beautiful book about a ghost who is little bit different. The illustrations are dark, subtle, and gorgeous. The story follows a ghost who doesn't fit in because he is a quilt instead of a sheet. As the story progresses, he learns to appreciate his uniqueness.

Thank you NetGalley and Tundra Books for providing this ARC.

A quilt ghost! How perfect is that? I hope that when I shuffle off this mortal coil I get a quilt instead of a white sheet!!!!!

This little ghost is just learning to "ghost" and his quilt troubles him in a way the sheeted ghosts don't seem to be - the quilt makes him feel hot, it's hard to handle and heavy to move. (One needs to hover as a ghost, and well. . .it's difficult.) Happy circumstances slip up quietly on him during this year's Halloween haunting opportunity and he learns just how useful he can be while he makes new friends. Silver linings all around!

I love this little story about overcoming challenges and appreciating the positive side opportunities bring with all changes. I'm looking forward to incorporating this book in my Halloween quilt display this year!

4 stars (lemoyne), surrounded by four-patch blocks and flying geese, with a final piano-key border, of course.

A sincere thanks to Riel Nason, Tundra Books and NetGalley for providing me an ARC to read and review.

The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt is a new excellent twist on a ghost story. A sweet little ghost is not a sheet but instead a quilt! He's different than all the other ghosts he knows. But soon he has a Halloween adventure that shows him how truly special he is.

I am a major quilt lover/collector so when I saw this book, I knew that I had to read it. This was a sweet story about how being different can let you experience new things in life that you wouldn’t get to experience if you were the same. And how being brave and going outside of your comfort zone can pay off. Plus the illustrations are beautiful and moody enough for Halloween, but not so dark that they are scary. I don’t even have kids and I want this book for my collection.

Strange little story about a ghost who is different, because instead of being a sheet, he is a quilt.

And the ghost is all lonely, and rejected by his fellow ghosts, who mock and make fun of him.

Until he is mistaken for a real quilt and used to keep a little girl warm at Halloween.

So, you would think that the ghost would stay with the little girl where he was wanted. But no, he goes back to join his friends, who for a moment, are intersted in his adventure. It is hard to say what will happen in the future, but I find it hard to believe that the ghosts who have made fun of him will turn around and be actually nice.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

The artwork is adorable and the theme is so cute, but then the ending is REALLY anti-climactic. And nothing ever comes of the other ghosts bullying and picking on him for being different? He just goes back to his life of being an unhappy little quilt-ghost? I was kind of saddened by the last few pages. I think it would've been much sweeter (and happier!) if he had stayed with the little girl and found his calling as a playful little ghost-friend, or something!

Such a charming little book with a simple but important message.

The story of a little ghost who struggles because he is different. While all the other ghosts are sheets he happens to be a quilt. Because he is different he is faced with some difficulties and uncertainties of whether he will ever truly fit in with his ghostly family and friends. Eventually he is picked up by a cold little girl on Halloween night. He quickly learns being a quilt doesn't have to be a bad thing afterall.

Cute read that shows the importance of being who we are and that being unique isnt something to ashamed of. The illustrations are beautifully done and will captivate young readers and listeners.

I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Very cute children's book about a little ghost. I like seeing the ghost as something other than a sheet. I can't wait to see this book in our elementary school library. The little kids will be crazy about it!

I loved this book! I fell in love with the ghost before I'd even read a word. The drawings are beautiful and textured, and my heart broke when the poor ghost who was a quilt slumped on the ground, unable to twist and turn. The book isn't really sad, of course - the text is funny, and it's written to celebrate children's uniqueness.

This story follows the Halloween adventure of a charming little ghost who’s a bit different from his family and friends.

I liked the moral of the story about the beauty of being unique, but the fantastic illustrations were definitely the star of this book for me. They’re cute and atmospheric with just a dash of spookiness. Despite a rushed ending, I think this book will be a hit with young readers who like their ghost stories sweet instead of scary.

What a whimsical and light hearted story! I especially liked the monochrome illustrations with tiny bits of pop of color. I want a quilt ghost in my house. Definitely great for story time circle, bedtime story reading for ages 4-7. Thank you Netgalley and publisher for my e copy for this is an honest review of my own.

This was a sweet story. I absolutely love the illustrations. Each page has little details that will make this book one to read again and again. I had to cringe when the kids got ice cream and chocolate on the quilt, though!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance reader's copy of this beautiful book.

I loved this book from the moment I saw it. I love ghosts, I make quilts, and we've had lots of little quilt ghosts running around our house for years!
.
The story follows this poor little ghost who for some reason is a quilt while all the rest of his family and friends are sheets. He's too heavy to float and he can't fly around as fast as the other ghosts. He's different and it makes him sad, until one Halloween night when he discovers how being different makes him brave, and useful, and....warm. 😊
.
Lovely illustrations in darker tones accompany a sweet spooky story of self acceptance. The book will be available from Penguin Random House on September 1, just in time for autumn. Even though I have the ebook, I will be buying the hardcover because it's just so cute.

This was children's book about a ghost who didn't fit in because of his looks. Everybody else was a sheet but he was a heavy quilt. Ghosts are afraid of humans but he has an adventure on Halloween where a little girl used him for warmth. Afterwards, all the ghosts want to be his friend and he becomes popular.
This was really quite adorable and I think the illustrations are absolutely what makes this story. They're beautiful and whimsical. The message is a good one in that it's okay to be different and it's unique in the way it tells it. It does end rather abruptly and could use another page to truly wrap up the story but the average kid will still love it. It's definitely a book that could become a tradition to read during the Halloween season.

This book is about a little ghost who is different. All his family and friends are sheets, but he’s a quilt. Flying is cumbersome because he’s heavier, and he gets over heated doing small things that his sheet buddies have no trouble accomplishing. One day he has a chance encounter with a little boy, and his friends think he’s really brave because ghosts are scared of humans. When Halloween rolls around, he finds himself in the company of a small girl for the evening, and it’s quite the cozy evening. The enounter fills him with joy and makes him a pretty big deal among his sheet friends and family.

The message of this book is important and it’s relayed in a cute way. It’s okay to be different. I daresay there are trace elements of our lives as quilting as well. The little ghost is made up on many squares of fabric that all came from different places and all of those different pieces combine to make him the ghost that he is. Without all of those elements, he’d be completely different! Humans are the same in a way. When we embrace being our wonderful, different selves, great things happen, and we are all a patchwork of sorts, of our parents, and where we grew up, our friends, pets, likes, dislikes, etc.

I really enjoyed reading this book on a stormy, chilly night. It made me wistful for fall (my favorite season), and gave me something to look forward to in a few months. This one is out in September, just in time for the season of Halloween, so keep an eye out for it at your local bookstore or library in a few months.

An absolutely darling story! I adored the artwork so much and found it to be charming. The story about the little ghost and accepting his flaws was great and a great message for kids. I definitely would recommend this story.

The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt by Riel Nason is an absolutely charming, heartfelt story about a young ghost who believes that he is just too different to ever fit in with his ghost family, who are all sheets. I knew as soon as I saw this title and cover that I needed to read it as soon as I could get my hands on a copy. What a lovely message about finding and embracing your uniqueness. The illustrations are equally adorable, and I particularly appreciated that the little ghost stands out as a colourful patchwork, juxtaposed against a background of black and white and, essentially, sameness. I will be purchasing this book for my four year old niece, whom I am certain will be every bit as enchanted by this story as I am. Highly recommended.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This is a cute story, especially for a quilter, but the last page doesn't make sense and it was a pretty abrupt ending. I kept looking for more.
