A fun quick read with plenty of adventure and a strong female protagonist. It was definitely a light read as the story didn’t engage me as much as I had hoped.

Ahaha, I rarely read this genre, but at times crave something a little different. I picked this up hoping for a quick and easy read, but quickly found that I also loved the humor and chemistry it contained!

Superpowers are a thing in this fun book. Those with them work for a secret non-governmental agency. Hanna is a trained combat medic and gets pulled into finding a mole that is getting superheroes killed. This is a fun, easy read!

So honestly, I usually hate reading the first book in a series before all the books are out. I just like to know that the next books is right there, already waiting for me. I hate waiting. But, I was really intrigued by the premise of this book. Mostly, it’s because I love superheroes. Happily, I really enjoyed this story - it’s a fun little story that isn’t a deep read. Now I just have to wait for the next one.

I Don’t Date Superheroes by S.D. Rogue, a good quick read into a new series. Feels a little like its slowing down right after the middle but very enjoyable.

~ ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review ~

This is a case of "it's not you, is me". I was searching a book to distract me from some personal issues and unfortunately I couldn't focus enough on it to enjoy the story. I will give it another go some other time.

This one is intruding read about people with special abilities. After treating yet another Paladian Bashir Hanas life changes from the ground. She is on the run with him from an unknown source and is trying to survive. Intruding suspense with mystery and action. Great story but I did miss and would like to see that there was a more romantic side in the book.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

I LOVED this story. I mean, it was REALLY good, like surprisingly so. It had tons of action, it was fast paced, it had likeable interesting characters and a good plot. I can't believe book number 2 doesn't come out until April 2021. But can't wait to read it!

This book was definitely different than what I expected, and I enjoyed the plot and the characters. I was expecting a little bit more out of the romance but I think it is well set up for the sequel. Overall the book was a quick read and I would be interested in the sequel.

What is it you are looking for? Is it a book with a lot of character building and is going to be the next contender for the Game of Thrones series, this is not it. However, if you are looking for something light, fun, an easy read then Hana and her Paladin friends may just fill the ticket. Yes, there are some small grammatical issues that I expect to be sorted out by final print, but overall it is a fun fast-paced read. Even though I think the ending was a little rushed I would not be averse to reading Book 2.

Good idea, but the execution could use a little work. The author head hopped a bit and the book could use some editing.

I'm only giving it 2 out of 5 stars but that comes with a caveat. The book has great potential it just needs a little polishing and it would be awesome. It's a great spin on superheroes/paranormal romance novels. Will I read another one of S.D. Rogue's book of course because the potential is there.

I will way 90% of this book I enjoyed but the ending ruined the book. I had to reread the ending at least 5 times because I kept thinking I was missing a page. Yet I didn't miss anything it went from chasing to a sunset that had me very confused.
The story is face paced and a quick beach read but lacks more depth, background and almost a understanding of why they are superheros. While it focus on certain characters readers are introduced to a cast of characters that needed a lot more background that would help readers enjoy and connect to the series wanting more. What readers go was a bit of a fun mess.
Yes I would say this story ends with a cliff hanger.

Hana is a nurse in a facility that cares for wounded Paladins – superheroes. When Bashir, a handsome Paladin and one of her patients, shows up at her house and asks for help, Hana is quickly thrust into a dangerous world where her life is at risk. And though she swore never to date another Paladin, she can’t resist Bashir’s care, concern, and charm.

Will she break her own rule of never dating the typically arrogant and ego-centric superheroes, and will Hana and Bashir figure out who is after them? Hana and Bashir must figure out who they can trust in order to save their lives and the lives of other Paladins.

I Don’t Date Superheroes is a fast-paced story filled with adventure, intrigue, and a little bit of romance. Hana is a strong and independent protagonist who doesn’t put up with nonsense, which I like. Bashir is brave and determined, and his super-speed ability is really cool (and useful). I like the banter between Bashir and Hana. They play off each other well.

However, I found both of the characters a bit underdeveloped and wish the complexities of their personalities were more deeply developed. Some of Hana’s reactions to the unusual and dangerous circumstances she’s forced into are passive and indifferent. Though she is strong and sure, her lack of emotion in some parts of the story seem illogical. Additionally, I didn’t love the negative portrayal of women, especially the female Paladins. They were flat characters with negative and hostile attitudes, and I wish they were more unique and defined.

Though the characters weren’t dynamically developed, I did enjoy the world-building. The secret government agency, the Paladins, and the super-powers are fantastic, and the events that unfold are suspenseful and contain a few surprising revelations.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and XPresso Book Tours for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Hana has a history (more like a miscommunication) with Paladins. They think that just because they have superpowers, everyone will kowtow to them. Hana is independent, strong, tactically trained and a no nonsense nurse. Not the kind of person you want to be on the wrong side of.

Now working for the Enhanced Humans Agency, Hana is a nurse for the Paladins, helping them heal from injuries that would kill less enhanced humans,. But there is something going on behind the scenes and she starts to wonder just who the good guys really are.

Enter Bashir. Her latest patient and all around charming playboy. But his good looks and charm aren't going to get him out of the jam he finds himself in when he breaks into Hana's home!

Well constructed wee story. I caught on quickly to the bad guys though so there was no real surprise reveal for me. But otherwise snappy dialogue, plenty of characters with personality and flaws. I'm still not sure about Bashir's ex - she needs some serious redemption in my opinion!

Quick, likeable read and looking forward to book 2!

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of I DON’T DATE SUPERHEROES (Book 1 of the Paladin Romance Series) by S.D. Rogue in exchange for an honest review. Hana is a nurse working for a group of superheroes called Paladins. Bashir, a Paladin injured in the line of duty, meets Hana during his recovery and asks her out on a date. Hana turns him down and tells him that, as a rule, she doesn’t date superheroes. Shortly after his release from the hospital, Bashir breaks into Hana’s home and begs her for help; his powers are on the fritz, and he’s being hunted. The conversation hasn’t gone on very long before a mercenary team proves Bashir’s claims about being hunted true. Now, Hana’s on the run with a superhero determined the change her mind and her rule.

This novella had an entertaining storyline. I recommend the tale to fans of superhero romance where the heroes are as flawed as everyone else.

Found this book to be fresh and light and rather enjoyable throughout. It did get a bit tedious to follow towards the end because there were so many characters and so many names that it proved hard to remember and figure who was who and what each one's power was. If this had been in a visual format, it would've been great, but just the names and no 'faces' to them in my mind made it a little hard and complex towards the end. Still, a very fresh and light take on the world of superheroes that reminded me of a lighter version of the show The Boys

This was a fun fast paced story with of course superheroes, and an unknown villain.

Hanna has a rule, she does not date superheroes, or paladins as they are called. She does work with them when they are injured in a mission, but she doesn’t date them. Simple right?

Bashir, a paladin with the ability of super speed was injured on a mission and is now one of Hanna’s recent patients. Until he shows up at her home convinced someone is after him.

They take off on a mission to find the truth. We find out some secrets about both.

Can’t wait to read the next book!

The idea of this book interested me a lot and it seemed like a fun escape, but unfortunately, it did not deliver. While the book was action-packed and a fun/quick read, the characters were flat and I found myself not rooting for them at all. I couldn't relate to the characters and found them hard to read, especially the main character. I wanted to see her being a nurse more than a lovesick girl with mild medical knowledge she could have gotten from watching Grey's Anatomy. This book had potential and it sadly didn't live up to it.

I liked the concept, the action, and the romantic moments at times but that was about it sadly.

DNF - like so so hard. At about 15%

It took me a little while to realize what was bugging me. Its a no nonsense gal, working with superheroes for recovery after injuries.

And yet...it felt superficial? I skimmed much of the rest of it, but her medical knowledge never gets less shallow. There's no detail work to give a clear picture. A wound requiring bandaging could be anything so her saying how remarkable his healing quickly has no frame of reference for the reader. Was he shot? Stabbed? Cut? Did he need stitches? How big are we talking?

Meanwhile everything is explained rotely. This is Samuel. He's sweet but that means nothing. I get asked out a lot. She states this stuff than launches into a decent explanation that is very dry and textbook.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is Rogue's writing is missing a spark, some sort of charisma or energy to it so I just stopped caring.
