A Royal Second Chance Summer was a pleasing, drama free and utterly sweet romance. That's packed full of likable characters, including a Prince, a commoner, and a grandfather who gets a second shot at love; and for me it's the perfect story to read if you're looking for a couple of hours of pure entertaining escapism.

Cute story and fun plot, but I just had a hard time connecting to this one. A lot of inner-thoughts that I felt distrusted the flow of dialogue between characters. Hard time keeping my attention.

I liked this book. It was very similar to another one I recently read. I must admit, I liked the other one a little more, which may have swayed my review a little.

I love a good royal romance. I love the idea of a normal every day guy/gal meeting a prince/princess and falling madly in love with each other. A Royal Second Chance Summer checks those boxes nicely. It's a sweet and endearing take on the typical plot and leaves the reader feeling lifted in love. If you're looking for a charming summer read, this is the book to reach for.

Thank you Netgalley for this advanced reader's copy. All opinions are my own.

I didn't not write up a review because I didn't finish the book. I got to 30% of the book but I could not enjoy the story as I had hoped I would. It seemed too cliche and the writing felt a bit stilted. The flow of the story wasn't there and I didn't enjoy the instalove of their relationship. I usually like a little more build up than what was shown. .
The only thing I did like was the idea of the bird of paradise automaton and the ending seemed interesting because I did flip to the end to see how it ended. The conclusion was decent but I couldn't enjoy the build up of their relationship. Thank you for the opportunity.

The moment Nicolas steps into this new town, he is sent the cops to arrest him by Lizzie, the town’s antique dealer. She saw him meandering and wandering outside the property she was working on, could he be a thief coming to steak from this deceased’s woman’s valuables?! Lizzie was not waiting around to find out, so she called the cops, who then arrested poor Nicolas.

Nicolas is immediately mesmerized and smitten by Lizzie, as she with him. What a cute idea of them meeting and liking each other, but not knowing how the other one feels, especially that his part of a royal family. Lizzie likes him for hon not for his title.

I absolutely loved this book and it’s romcom feel. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Finding love while searching together!

Prince Nicolas of Belfort was trying to locate and antique bird of paradise automaton that his grandfather had given away many years ago. Nicolas had been told that antique dealer Lizzie Cates was the person to help him find it, but he didn’t want her to know who he was because people changed when they found about his title. Lizzie has happy in Wood Creek away from her family after they had changed after they had money.

A Royal Second Chance Summer is Nicolas waning to find the woman that wants him and not his title but that may not happen but hearing the story about the antique when they found it helped him to realize he would rather have love with Lizzie.

I received this ARC through Netgalley in return for my honest opinions.

This book has everything that I love in those cheesy Hallmark movie I devour when I am in need of a dose of happy.

An antiques dealer escaping her family and an undercover prince searching for a lost family heirloom. The laughs, the cringeworthy moments that make you smile like dork and a satisfying conclusion.

It is 100% everything you need for a light and lovely read.

Normally I love royal romances but this story was just so boring! How could such a short story feel so long at the save time? The characters were just flat and there wasn’t enough development to become invested and care about them. Instead of this I highly recommend Heired Lines by the same publisher instead. It’s a much better and satisfying story about a royal seeking the help of a US commoner specializing in antiques.

I’m not, in general, a fan of royal romances, because they generally seem hugely implausible to me. However, I had greatly enjoyed the previous two books in the series (A Family by Christmas and A Valentine Proposal), so I decided to give this one a chance. I’m glad I did.

The story is delightful, charming, and romantic (of course). It was lovely to return to Heart Street, and there were small cameos from the characters from the previous books. It’s such a lovely setting, and this time, we had the 4th of July celebrations. I really liked the main characters - Nicolas seemed kind and sensitive, and Lizzie was lovable, if a little timid.

The one niggle I have is the way that Nicolas acted when they found the bird of paradise - he suddenly morphed into a horrible person. He was so unnecessarily unkind to Anna (the owner of the bird). It just doesn’t seem to fit with his character, and gives me doubts about his and Lizzie’s long term compatibility.

Overall, I enjoyed this romantic summer tale. I will definitely be continuing the series.

I was given a free copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

The story of Lizzie and Nicolas had some cute moments, but was a little rushed. I love when characters from previous books in a series make an appearance, so I enjoyed the scenes with the various characters in Wood Creek. All in all, a quick read with cute characters but needs more development and smolder!

I appreciated the opportunity to read and review this book but it wasn’t for me. I enjoy a romance novel but this one just didn’t quite grab me. The characters were flat but at the same time over-dramatic. I liked the in-scene switches in perspective between Lizzie and Nicolas but they both seemed to be leaping off a cliff with conclusions about each other with zero communication. It was too contrived. I also felt the language was way too formal and stilted for small-town Texas people.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A Royal Second Chance Summer was a fun summery read! It almost felt like it could have been a Hallmark movie. The book tells the story of Lizzie and Nicholas' romance in a small town.

I gave it three stars because this book did feel a little bit insta-love, and I wished there had been more build up in the relationship. I also was hoping for some more character development, While I found both characters likeable, I just would have liked to get to know them better. Perhaps a slightly longer version of the book would have done that.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and read through it in less than a day. This is the first book I've read from Viv Royce, and am interested in reading more from her.

A Royal Second Chance Summer by Viv Royce a sweet five-star read. This is number two in the Little Shops on Heart Street but they can be read as stand-alone, I have read number two but missed number one and I didn’t think I missed anything as each novel tells the story of a different shop. This is sweet and romantic and just what I needed at the moment to brighten my day, it was nice to run away to Heart Street, Wood Creek and just live vicariously imagining the lovely song played by a musical bird. Prince Nicolas did annoy at times, but then he would win me round being a sweetheart, especially about playhouse or should that be play castle. This is a perfect to while away a couple of hours and just enjoy a good story.

This was an unexpected read. I read the blurb and it immediately got me curious.

This book has A LOT of potential but sadly it wasn’t well layered. The story needed more pages and a slower pace. There were a few situations that felt over produced just because we did not spend a lot of time with the characters.

I’m not bothered by insta-love if we have a proper development but we didn’t.

I liked Lizzie and Nicolas and there were a lot of very cute moments but most of them did not land. There wasn’t really a backstory, just a few paragraphs about their lives here and there but not that much depth to them.

Despite all those issues, I can see how good this book could’ve been if there was to it.

A big thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for this ARC!

This was a really quick read for me. The plot moved pretty fast and I was invested in the characters. At first I was debating between 3 or 4 stars but I have decided 4 stars because the ending really touched me. It was really moving; I even shed a tear! I really hope there will be a second book!

If you've ever wanted to be a princess and live vicariously in your own Hallmark movie this book is it. The story of Nicolas and Lizzie lead you on a summer holiday adventure in a small town. While neither know who each other really are, it is love at first sight. Their journey spans an ocean to the happily ever after.
I highly recommend this read for a full romantic and fairytale.

Nicolas and Lizzie are so good together. A modern cinderella story with a hot royal and a American girl who don’t like glamour.

I was lucky enough to receive an Advanced Reading Copy of Viv Royce's A Royal Second Chance Summer thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, scheduled for release June 2020. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've started reading more and more books from Entangled Publishing, as I find they manage to perfectly hit the note between romance, plot, characters and storyline and fit exactly what I'm looking for, and this was no exception. I do also have to give a special nod to the fact that unlike most other romances I've read lately, this is actually written in the third person, something I am a strong fan of (it takes a great book for me to be able to read it in first-hand view)

This was the first time I've read one of Ms. Royce's books, and this particular is the third in this series, and I am intrigued to see the others. I've kept on having to re-write this review as I can't accurately describe what I'm feeling about this book, but what I can say is that it was just perfectly lyrical and smooth. Now, lyrical. What do I mean by that? It just flowed so smoothly. I never felt that I was being blindsided or interrupted by events in the story, it just happened so fluidly and naturally and there was no doubt in my mind that what was going to happen actually did happen.

We're quickly introduced to our leads, and while our heroine was definitely likeable and hit all the right notes, I think our hero didn't hit all those right notes. There were a few moments where I was giving a "Really?" to some of his actions, and willing him to be better. While this was a great novel, I was a little underwhelmed by the romance between our leads, quickly coming on without much interaction, but this was completely saved by the romance between the secondary characters.

I did really enjoy the story as a whole, but I did feel the leading romance to be a little light, and the ending a little bit too quick, but as I mention earlier, it just flowed so smoothly that it wasn't really a detraction. I felt like I was reading a slightly more adult version of the Harlequin teen novels published back in the day, and I didn't want to stop reading. The plotline was quite unique in a sense, and I wish the novel had been slightly longer to explore our heroine's family and her relationship with them a little more, as well as the leading romance.

Overall, a very interesting read and one of the smoothest flowing books I've read in a long time. A thoroughly enjoyable light-hearted read and perfect for summer.
