'm definitely a sucker for stories featuring complicated parent/child relationships, and in this case Morgan does the mother/daughter storyline really well. I enjoyed the authentic portrayal of dysfunctional family dynamics, and the push pull of mother/sister relationships. Kirstie did feel like an unnecessary addition to the story, but that was my only main criticism.

3.5 solid stars.

This book centers around Gayle, a successful entrepreneur who is estranged from her two adult daughters, Samantha and Ella. After experiencing an accident at work, she wanted her two daughters to be by her side. The rest of the book follows her and her two daughters trying to reconcile during Christmastime.

I thought this was pretty good. The book was quite lengthy and had no big reveals, surprises, or twists, but the book was still a feel good read nonetheless. I loved the Christmasy feel and how the family members were able to reconcile. However, I did not have any sympathy toward Gayle at first. It was bizarre how she suddenly felt she needed to reconnect with her daughters, and it did not feel like she was sympathetic toward her daughters' feelings. After I got more into the book, I gained some respect for Gayle after learning about her past. I loved that all of the family had personal growth and gained new Christmas memories too.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Harlequin Publishing for giving me a copy of the book.

I’m disappointed to say that this book didn’t work for me. I always enjoyed Sarah’s books and this book sounded like the perfect holiday read. Plus I had heard good things about it that I couldn’t wait to read it. Unfortunately I had a hard time getting into this story. It could be that I wasn’t in the right mood for this book. But I tried to pick it back up a few times and then decide to not continue it.

One More for Christmas by Sarah Morgan tells the story of an estranged family at Christmas. Will their trip to Scotland bring them closer together? I love how Sarah Morgan weaves together the stories of this family, and their past. Along with the beautiful moments of Scotland at Christmas. Definitely pick this one up!

For sisters Samantha and Ella Mitchell, Christmas is their most precious time of the year. But this year, they’ll be buying presents for the most unexpected guest of all—their mother. It’s been five years since they last saw each other. But when their mom calls out of the blue, Samantha and Ella cautiously agree to spend Christmas all together in the beautiful Scottish Highlands…

Gayle Mitchell is at the top of her career, but her success has come at a price—her relationship with her daughters. Her tough-love approach to parenting was designed to make them stronger, but instead managed to push them away…until a brush with her own mortality forces Gayle to make amends.

As the snowflakes fall on their first family celebration in years, the Mitchell women must learn that sometimes facing up to the past is all you need to heal your heart…

Gayle Mitchell is a successful consultant and bestselling author of self-help books who has inspired and changed the lives of countless readers. However, the confidence she displays hides a world of hurt that impacted the way she parented. As a result, she hasn’t spoken to her two daughters, Samantha and Ella, for 5 years following an emotional blow-up. It takes a serious accident for her to begin questioning the choices she made in raising her daughters as a single mom.

When Gayle suggests that they all spend Christmas together at Kinleven, a lodge in the Scottish Highlands which Samantha is evaluating as a possible destination for her luxury travel company, it sets in motion a confrontation that can either permanently sever their relationship or clear a path to reconciliation. For that to happen, all three women will need to acknowledge their feelings and Gayle will have to share the events that led to her rigid and emotionally bereft child-rearing.

Morgan has deftly woven the Mitchell family saga with that of the McIntyre clan, owners of Kinleven, along with a sizzling romance between Samantha and Brodie. The wintry beauty of the Highlands is the backdrop for an unforgettably magical Christmas that ushers in hope and happiness after a lifetime of secrets and suffering. A satisfying read for the coming holidays!

Unfortunately, I didn't love this book. It's actually my least favorite Sarah Morgan book I've read so far and I'm really sad that it just didn't work out for me. I didn't like the characters and they actually all felt really flat to me. They each seemed to serve one purpose and that purpose was repeatedly mentioned. And from the very beginning of the book, it was easy to see where it was all going. And it all pretty much played out exactly like you think it will. I know romances in general are pretty predictable, and I'm okay with that, especially knowing I'm going to get an HEA at the end. But this one just read like there really wasn't much effort put it at all. And the predictability along with the flat characters and the fact that I usually love Sarah Morgan's books, especially her Christmas books, just made it all that much worse.
I know some people will love this book. The setting is gorgeous, the book is about sisters and their mom reconnecting, and of course there's a romance. I can see how some people could love it. But for me, it just really fell short of what I was hoping for.

I absolutely loved this story. If I am being honest, I had started it one other time and had a hard time getting into the first few chapters, but I am so glad I gave it another try!!!

I really appreciate the family dynamic displayed here and it brings to light a sad set of circumstances that could be true for all kinds of families. I love watching the growth and development take place and it’s not all perfect. I also have to say that while this is not a humorous story there are some funny parts and I was in tears from laughing at a moment shared between two of the characters. I had to set my Kindle down because I was afraid it was going to be submerged in the tub (yes I am a tub e-reader haha.)

I look forward to visiting these characters again in the future and cannot wait to try more of Sarah’s work!!!

I love Sarah Morgan's Christmas books, and this one was no exception. Set in the Scottish Highlands, this book is perfect for readers who love family dramas, cozy settings, and happy endings. Samantha Mitchell is a successful travel agent creating Christmas experiences for her wealthy clients. Ella Mitchell, Samantha's sister, is a stay at home mom, to her precocious daughter. While Ella and Samantha are super close, they are both estranged from their mother Gayle Mitchell, a successful career woman who has prioritized her career over her relationship with her daughters.

When Gayle has an accident, she realizes she must try to mend the relationship with her daughters. Sam and Ella are not exactly on board with that notion. What unfolds is a family drama filled with the unveiling of long held secrets and the healing that must take place to move forward.

I love this story of the Mitchell family. I found the relationship between the sisters and their estranged mom very authentic and believable. The Scottish Highlands setting is magical-it made me want to visit right away. If you like holiday books, I think you will love this one.

I love a good winter read! This one hit the spot with the charming, festive story! Despite the turmoil, it plays out so well and keeps readers engaged. Loved the romance element paired with reconciliation. So good!

Told from different view points this contemporary tale shows how a mother and her two daughters are attempting to fix their relationship. So why not spend Christmas together? This ended up being a more emotional story than I expected for a Christmas story from Sarah Morgan but like usual it was wonderful.

I was really looking forward to reading One More for Christmas during the holiday season. I’d heard such good things about Sarah Morgan’s holiday books. Unfortunately I put this one down at 19% and never picked it up again. I may try it again at a later point.

Charming, festive, and emotional. Sarah Morgan always hits me right in the feels with her evocative storytelling. A gorgeous setting, a family in need of healing, and a sprinkling of romance. Gayle appears to have it all, but that is far from the truth. She does not have a relationship with her grown daughters Ella and Samantha. The sisters finally severed ties with their mother after years of being criticized, judged, and belittled. but after Gayle has an accident the Sisters visit her in the hospital some secrets are revealed and Gayle is determined to heal her relationship with her girls. This leads to a family trip at Christmas time to a gorgeous Scottish manner.

The story bounces between now and then and the perspectives of Gayle, Samantha, and Ella. there is also a fourth perspective peppered in periodically and I am not certain that it needed to be included? To be clear didn’t take anything away from the book, just didn’t add anything either. I was instantly drawn to both Samantha and Ella‘s stories. Samantha had the coolest job of creating perfect Christmas getaways. Ella had a quiet strength, the cutest daughter and a pretty good guy for a husband. I loved how supportive and close the sisters were, made me want a sister. Took me quite a while to warm up to Gayle, but as I got to know her better and learned her pass I could understand more where she was coming from. Brody the love interest in the story was quite delicious. another sparkling Christmas tale from Miss Morgan.

I have read a couple books from Sarah Morgan in the past and have I always been a fan. So thank you so much for sending me a copy of this book to read this holiday season. It was exactly what I wanted and exactly what I expect from Sarah Morgan.

While this was a Christmas book, it was not heavy on Christmas fluff. The story revolved around a family, spending Christmas together for the first time in years. Ella and Samantha are sisters who have always stuck together. They spend every Christmas together and have never needed their mother to be a part of it. Their Mom, Gayle, is a high powered author who focuses only on work and never seemed to have time for her daughters. So after a falling out, they hadn't seen each other in about five years. But then, after an accident, Gayle feels the need to reevaluate her life and she reaches out to her daughters. Now, for the first time in years and with a very stressed and awkward relationship, they are about to spend Christmas together as a family in a remote area of Scotland.

This story had a lot of heart. It was a story about family, love and forgiveness. It sought to prove that people can change with circumstances and that sometimes we don't know someone's full story. I really liked the characters and the way the story came together. It was a perfect holiday read!

I finished reading One More for Christmas last week and loved it, of course. Morgan is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors for this time of year. In my opinion, nobody mixes family drama and the magic of Christmas quite like she does. You get the Hallmark Christmas movie vibes with a good helping of the grit and grime of real life. The plot isn’t too sugarcoated, cutesy, or lovey-dovey. There’s always the perfect combination of sisterhood, mother/daughter relationships, married life, parenthood, and the joyous holiday season. If you shy away from or are skeptical of Christmas-themed books, I highly recommend you give Morgan’s writing a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
