Fantastic read. I think this is the best Christmas story I have read this year.

I highly recommend it.

From my blog: Always With a Book:

I've read quite a few books by Sarah Morgan, most recently the last few she has written that fall within the cozy holiday-theme. What I love most is that while there is definitely that holiday feel to them, there is also substance there...it's not all fluff and holiday charm.

It's no secret that I love a good story about families, particularly ones that delve into relationships and family dysfunction. I love a story that involves secrets and one where there might possibly be some type of reconciliation. Any else that happens - a romance, the holidays, some great locations - is all extra.

I found the characters here to be relatable, especially the sisters. That bond is always something I look at critically, having two sisters myself. And what we get is relationship between the two sisters that is supportive and realistic. I loved how they were there for each other when they were needed, questioned each other and pushed at just the right time. Both need to make changes and we see that happen during the course of the book.

Each character takes their own journey in this book and I loved that. For some, the journey had more obstacles than others. This book tugs at your heartstrings at times, but it is not without it's humor. There were times I found myself laughing out loud, only to be tearing up in the next moment.

Even though Christmas is still months away, I found this book to be the perfect read to lift my spirits and get me thinking about the holidays!

Time for another holiday reading recommendation from me! I’m a huge Sarah Morgan fan and always seem to enjoy her books, but when it’s time to read a Christmas book from her, I get a little giddy. The Christmas Sisters is one of my absolute favorite holiday books so I had high expectations for this one. I’m so pleased to say that I can, once again recommend this one wholeheartedly.

This follows the three women in the Mitchell family, mom Gayle and her daughters Samantha and Ella. The daughters are estranged from their mother but are very close to each other so the dynamics in this small family are very interesting and are the crux of what the story is about. Christmas is the perfect time for a reconciliation, right? That’s what Gayle is hoping for though her girls are hesitant. The bulk of the story is told as they spend the holidays together in Scotland and wow does SM know how to bring a place to life. This one was so magical and I was really swept away by the storyline as well as the setting. There’s romance, an adorable kiddo, a gorgeous Scottish estate, a heartfelt plot and plenty of Christmas joy. I adored it and kind of wish I would’ve waited to read it in December because I think it would’ve been even more magical so add this to your December TBR!

Oh my heart. What a beautiful, heartwarming and charming book. Sarah Morgan has done it again! If you want a book with all the Christmas feels, this one is definitely for you. This book revolves around Gayle and her two estranged daughters - Samantha and Ella. Gayle has never been a fuzzy fun loving mom and after one too many incidents, isolated her daughters especially when one needed her the most. This book is about family, second chances, Christmas and mostly finding joy. Must read for all the Christmas lovers out there!

An emotional journey of healing! ONE MORE FOR CHRISTMAS by Sarah Morgan is a powerful story of family healing. The plot was fast paced and had me hooked quickly and as the story played out, I liked them more and more.

Gayle has been estranged from her grown daughters for several years and when a flash of uncertainty has her examining her choices, she reaches out to heal the rift.

Samantha chose to be a high powered career woman just like her mother pushed down their throats their entire lives, but she never hesitates to be a bull dog when it comes to protecting her adored little sister.

Ella sees the good in life and totally throws herself into the joys of motherhood and marriage, but the thought of admitting she chose the homey side of life to her go-getter mother is terrifying.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming holiday story with a hint of romance.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4/5 stars

One More for Christmas is a heartwarming and sweet Christmas novel about family and (of course) romance. The story centers around Gayle Mitchell and her daughters, Samantha and Ella. After a years long estrangement, Gayle reaches to her daughters promising to make up for what their childhood Christmases lacked. She wants the family to spend Christmas in Scotland Highlands. There in Scotland, the mother and daughters attempt to repair their fractured relationship (and find love along the way🎉).

I love Sarah Morgan Christmas books because they are more emotional and deeper than the typical Christmas romance. I loved how this one was more about family, but still had enough romance to make my Hallmark movie-loving heart happy. The characters are all well-developed and well-written as usual and the setting is perfect. I love Scotland, I love Christmas magic, and I love a romance, so this book was the perfect choice.

Overall, One More for Christmas is a heartwarming, sweet, and poignant Christmas story that needs to be read during the Christmas season. 🎄

I enjoyed this Christmas story about the importance of family and finding love when you open your heart. The story centered on Gayle, a workaholic and no-nonsense businesswoman and mother reconnecting with her daughters, Ella and Samantha, after an accident causes her to reevaluate her life and realize how much she's missed. The family ends up spending Christmas together in a remote Scottish manor that Samantha is evaluating for her holiday travel business, expecting the worst after their last family blowout five years prior. But slowly, Gayle warms to the magic of the Christmas season and to the granddaughter she's just met, while Ella and Samantha learn that there was so much more to their mother's distant and no-nonsense child-rearing than they'd ever expected. And Samantha is equally surprised to find a growing connection to their host, Brodie, even after an extremely embarrassing phone called they shared before her arrival. Despite a few bumps in the road, this Christmas may be the best one yet as Gayle, Ella, and Samantha rediscover the love of family at Christmas, and Brodie and his family feel the warmth and magic of the holiday season return to their home after his father's passing. Plus, a Christmas romance might be in the air!

I loved the blossoming relationship between Samantha and Brodie - I thought their chemistry was great and their teasing had me chuckling. I also appreciated the deep and loving sisterly bond between Samantha and Ella, as well as Tab's innocent joy and affection that overcame the tension between the sisters and their mother. I did, however, find it very hard to feel sympathetic for Gayle through at least the first third of the book. Just based on her thoughts and actions, as well as her daughters' feelings about her, she really did seem like a bad mother who didn't seem to have any conception of her daughters' feelings and need for emotional support. I wasn't in her corner and rooting for her to succeed at reconnecting with her family until I learned more about her past, so I wish some of that information had been introduced earlier in the story. Overall, this was a sweet book for the holidays if you're a fan of family dramas and Christmas romances.

What a great way to start my holiday reading! It's an uplifting story of family and second chances.

Gayle raised her girls as a single mother, to be strong and independent. Their father died but their mother never shared the history of their short marriage. After a fall with some serious injuries occurs, Gayle calls her daughter's to her hospital bed and asks for a second chance.

Ella and Samantha choose to spend Christmas with their mother in Scotland as part of research for Sam's work. None of them expect a reconciliation, but after an honest talk about the past, a new relationship with their mother evolves, and none of them are expected it.

A charming holiday story that will make you laugh, cry, and cheer for family! A five star read in my opinion.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

I always enjoy Sarah Morgan's book and this one was no different. I did not want to put it down! A couple of twists which I wasn't expecting but it added to the storyline. The basis of the story takes place in Scotland and I felt as if I were there with the families - riding the sleigh, feeding the reindeer. A story that just makes you feel good!

Sarah Morgan is one of my favourite authors. Her books have well-developed characters and meaningful relationships. One More for Christmas was a book I desperately wanted to read, and it was everything I hope it would be and more.

Gayle Mitchell is a successful author and leader of organizational change. Following an accident which landed her in hospital, she is asked who should be notified. She hesitates because work has been her life for many years. Finally she mentions the name of one of her daughters - someone she hasn’t seen or talked to in five years. In fact, Gayle has been estranged from both Samantha and her sister Ella during this time. She wonders if they would even come to visit her after how they parted five years ago.

Life has changed immensely for the two sisters. Samantha is the CEO of a travel company specializing in creating unique travel opportunities at Christmas. Ella has married and has a preschool daughter. The sisters agree to meet their mother who proclaims she wants to spend Christmas with them this year. The younger women are surprised - could this be coming from a woman who never liked Christmas and chose to work through the holidays? Samantha has to be in Scotland this Christmas to check out a new location for her clients, and so the women and Ella’s family fly across the Atlantic to spend the holidays together. The setting for the remainder of the book is absolutely perfect for a Christmas story.

This is such an interesting read, and I enjoyed every minute of it. The relationship between Gayle and her daughters is complex and based on history and life experience. I loved that Gayle fosters personal growth in women throughout the book, right from her own daughters to other female characters. I enjoyed the romance in the book and was thrilled that it tied in with the beautiful setting of the book. It was not, however, the focus of the book. The underlying message in the book is that we can only make the best decisions we can with the information we have at the time. One should not feel guilty about this, in reflection, when we realize we didn’t make the best decision.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the ARC of this book in exchange for the honest review provided here.

My rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5.

Gayle Mitchell did everything she could to make sure that her girls grew up stronger than she did. Unfortunately, that means that she alienated them when she found out her younger daughter was going to be a teacher, a “soft” profession; not at all what Gayle had steered her towards.
Samantha is shocked to hear her mother’s assistant on the phone. Even more to hear that her mother is in the hospital. She tells Ella that she doesn’t need to come but Ella does anyone. And they are both shocked when Gayle says that she wants to spend a family Christmas. Little does she know what that will entail.
Luckily, Samantha needs to check out a lodge in Scotland that she might start including in her holiday excursions business. So off the family goes. There’re hurt feelings, tears, and self-discovery. This is definitely not a a Morgan romance novel because there is no HEA or even an HFN but it was a nice family story.

Gayle is a beloved professional woman who has written books on how to succeed. It is not until she has a serious accident in her office that she realizes no one really knows her including her two daughters. Samantha and Ella arrive at the hospital and Gayle is relived to see them. Laying in the hospital she has reflected on the sorry state of their family relationship and wants everyone to spend Christmas together. The daughters are appalled, remembering how they parted ways over an argument 5 years ago. Samantha has her own business finding dream vacation spots for her clients and is invited to go to Scotland to check out a castle. Samantha brings Ella, her husband and daughter, and Gayle along to celebrate Christmas. Gayle is determined to change the way she reacts with her daughters and get acquainted with a granddaughter she did not know she had. The winter wonderland, wise matriarch of the Scottish family, and the son, Brodie, give the family special Christmas memories. Great story, important points about making compromises and communicating with one another.

One More for Christmas brings you a tale of a mother who made tough choices and realizes her grown adult daughters need to know the truth so they can build a relationship that lasts.

The setting sounded so beautiful in this story... the highlands of Scotland at Christmas time?! What could be better. I loved the romance and that there was a married couple that seemed to be happy and despite their problems have a good relationship.

At times the characters were extremely frustrating (ahem Gayle) but I love the lessons they learned and it left me wanting to know more about the family and the business opportunities they're about to explore! Sign me up for a week at their home!

This is a lovely novel about family reconciliation and forgiveness, Ella and Sam haven't seen their mother Gayle in five years. Ella hasn't even told her that she's married and the mother of a little girl! Now, though, they come together because Gayle, a high flyer realizes she's missed a lot. It's told by Sam, Ella, and Gayle, which works well. The family agrees to travel to Scotland for the holiday because Sam, now the head of a travel company, wants to have a look at a castle as a possible destination. The family who lives there has had its own problems and this Christmas visit, well, it's healing for everyone. There's good atmospherics, a little humor, and a pull at the heartstrings. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. A good read.

One more for Christmas, by Sarah Morgan is a unique Christmas tale set primarily in the moors of Scotland at Christmas. It’s captivatingly atmospheric with a snowy castle, hearty feasts, seasonal decor and reindeer, each with a name! The author clearly has mastered the rich and festive details making the reader feel as if he or she has been dropped right into the Highlands on Christmas Eve.

The story is a family drama at heart, about two grown daughters and their estranged and rather remote mother, who have unexpectedly reunited and surprisingly end up traveling together to Scotland to vet a new prospective location for Samantha’s holiday destination business. While there, the three woman work through their past, deep-seated and unresolved issues with one another, and amidst the wintery setting romance blossoms as well.

I found this story to be charming, humorous, thoughtful and moving with powerful messages about openness and honesty, allowing that each person’s story and past is unique and affects their behavior. It’s about being willing to see things from another’s perspective and cultivating a forgiveness that sets you on a new path and a second chance. This story has friendship, reconciliation, with yourself and others, romance, humor and Christmas cheer.

Despite this, I found the plot to be rather slow-paced and lacking in momentum at times. It was more dialogue, or even monologue-focused, than plot-driven. It also seemed to circle the same topics one too many times for my liking. I would have preferred it to be a little shorter in order to move things along a bit faster. I did find some decisions and behaviors hard to justify and ultimately there were some “transformations” I found a bit incredible, but it is nonetheless, a touching holiday story. I did enjoy One More for Christmas by Sarah Morgan, and I’m certain others will as well, I just wish it had been a bit more succinct.

This is my first journey into the works of Sarah Morgan & I am officially a fan. I thoroughly enjoyed the family drama combined with light romance. I loved the flawed characters, the Scottish setting, the Christmas motif, the charming Tab, the lovable Mary & so much more. Just absolutely lovely.

For libraries: You can't go wrong adding this your library collection, especially if you have readers clamoring for more seasonal romances.

The perfect book to recommend to romance readers who are looking for a cozy, uplifting Christmas story. A mother, her two adult daughters, and her little granddaughter have been estranged for five years, but end up spending Christmas together at a beautiful estate in the Scottish Highlands. The characters have such depth and are so relatable, and well-developed secondary characters truly add to the story. Everything readers will want is here: a great story, a heart-warming romance, second chances fulfilled, plus lots of snow, gingerbread, and even real reindeer. I look forward to recommending this book.

I was swept away by this poignant story of reconciliation, forgiveness, and family—and Christmas was the perfect time to set this story. One More For Christmas is a bit deeper and emotional than many Christmas novels. Although there is a wonderful romance, and a beautiful setting in Scotland, there are many other layers to this story as well. The characters are complex and transitional, and all of them must open up their hearts and allow themselves to be vulnerable, taking a chance on love and willing to let go of the past.
