A fun, festive, heartwarming Christmas book! The setting was fabulous! The details thrown in really added a festive flair. The family drama was authentic and believable. The characters were likable and relatable. The story got a bit repetitive towards the end but overall, a heartwarming holiday read! My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.

This talented author gives us a Christmas story that reminds us that families and our relationships in them are messy but also wonderful.
In this case we have three women , all very different. Samantha and Ella Mitchell are sisters. Samantha creates special vacations for families and Ella is a stay at home Mom.
They love Christmas and purposely make it special. Something that was lacking in their childhood.
When Gayle Mitchell, their estranged mother gets injured and hospitalize, a decision is made to spend Christmas together and a trip to Scotland is planned.
Will they be able to overcome old hurts and move forward? Or will the past always hinder their present and future? Or will this “One More For Christmas” be the one to heal their hearts?
Though at times slow moving and not my favorite story by this author, it was still interesting, emotional, with complex characters and thought provoking.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and HQN Books . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

"One More for Christmas" is a charming story about a closed-off successful mother and her two daughters. Gayle is an award-winning author, talk show host, and businesswoman that closed off her two daughters from her life. Samantha and her younger sister Ella have had a tough upbringing. The tragic death of the father before Ella was born and having a mother that forced harsh realities on them at such a young age. Samantha and Ella have not been in contact with their mother in years, due to a falling out.
Gayle suffers from a shocking fall at work that starts a chain reaction of events that lead to Gayle and her daughters spending Christmas in Scotland. (I don't want to give away any of the book).
Against the snowy backdrop of stay at the McIntrye family Kinleven lodge with acres of natural Scottish Highlands. The McIntrye family welcomes Gayle, Samantha, and Ella's small family of three to spend a few days with them in hopes of hiring Samantha to showcase their home as a holiday vacation destination. With the reindeer that naturally inhabit the family property and the natural wilderness creates a dreamy holiday backdrop. Brodie McIntrye is a lovable character that Samantha's first encounter is a racy telephone conversation that offers an awkward first face to face introduction. The storyline was enjoyable and perfect for a holiday romance read. The romance scenes were tasteful and not too descriptive to seem graphic.
Overall I enjoyed my first Sarah Morgan novel and I am eager to read more of her writings.
Thank you to Netgalley and HQ Stories for sharing this advanced reader e-copy.

Sisters Samantha and Ella love Christmas and the girls are exceptionally close since both are estranged from their mother. For the first time in 5 years their mother Gayle is visiting over the holidays. Gayle has dedicated her life to succeed in business since she was raising her two daughters by herself. The family suffered as she became more and more successful. Now after a serious accident she decides it's time to make things right. A nice family Christmas story about forgiveness and love. I wish there had been one more chapter, the ending was a little abrupt. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is a nice, feel good Christmas story. I enjoyed it, but it also fell a little flat. The story unraveled slows which I’m good with, and the plot was interesting. However, I felt like the main characters weren’t always fully developed. I watched them change, but didn’t really see them grow. It’s a story that I am happy to recommend to readers, but not necessarily one of my favorites.

3.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an eARC of this book! Going in, my expectations were very high because historically I have loved Sarah Morgan Christmas books. This book was cute and fun, but just missed something for me to really love it. The plot is very slow and normally that doesn't bother me, but in this one I felt like it was just a little one note. First we meet Gayle. She is a self help, mega famous guru. She falls and injures herself and shocks everyone when she asks them to call her daughters. Nobody knew she had daughters and in fact they have been estranged for 5 years. Her daughters come to see her in the hospital and through a series of miscommunications, they all end up planning to go to Scotland together to celebrate Christmas.
Samantha owns a company that plans holiday vacations for people. She's very successful and needs to go to Scotland to scout out a new place. Ella is the younger sister and she is married with a daughter that her mother knows nothing about. She is worried her mother will not approve of the choice to stay at home and not be a career driven woman. The sisters are very close but there is a lot of tension with their mother and as the book goes on we find out why.
The owner of the house in Scotland is Brodie. Samantha expects him to be an old guy, but instead he's a charming man of about her age. His sister Kristie is opposed to him renting the place out, but the extra income is needed. They have a chef named Mary and I loved meeting her. Of course, there is a romance between Samantha and Brodie and I laughed out loud multiple times at his attempt to woo her and give her the Scottish Christmas she expects.
I loved seeing the change in Gayle. Her fall and trip to the hospital put things into perspective for her. She finally communicated with her daughters and the 3 work on their relationship.
It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly what this book needed to get a higher rating for me. Like I said, it is very slow paced and I feel like the characters were just slightly underdeveloped perhaps. We got a lot of development in the relationships between all the women, but I feel like maybe a little more roundedness as individuals may have helped.
All that being said, I did enjoy this book and would recommend it; its just not at the level of Christmas Sisters or Wedding in December for me.

SPOILERS AHEAD:
The girls father had been abusive, pushing their mother to be the uber independent, practical, career mogul that she is.

A beautiful Christmas story about a most dysfunctional family of two adult daughters and their cold, distant mother. Their journey from totally estranged to happiness and connection is bumpy and filled with lessons.
The setting of Scotland is beautiful and of course there is a romance that filled my heart.
Perfect for Christmas.

Gayle has agreed to a live interview. She has a terrible accident after the interview. I was hooked from beginning. I loved the fact that the accident made Gayle want reconnect with her daughter's. Samantha is the CEO of a travel company. I didn't like reading all the details of planning the clients trips. Samantha is invited to spend time in Scotland. I loved the characters. Samantha appears to be newly single. Ella has a daughter Tabitha. I like the name Ella. I loved the different points of view. I loved seeing how Ella was going to fit her mother into her family.

I love Sarah Morgan and this was a delight. I feel like each year she keeps getting better and better. She is a dream guest for my podcast - I just can't stop gushing about her.

I am sharing this book in October about Christmas books you should check out this season.

Disappointed because this was marketed to me in an email as a romance but this is definitely a family story not a love story. The story it's self was fine enough I guess, but when I went in expecting one thing and got another it was disappointing. If you like strong female relationships and some feel good vibes this is up your alley. But it wasn't my cup of tea.

I loved this book. It is a family drama full of emotion. I could not put it down. A little weird to be reading a Christmas book in June but I highly recommend this book to romance readers

Sweet drama. I enjoyed this book. It deals in heartbreak among family. If you have the perfect family this book will be hard to understand. I love the ending with everyone coming to a realization about themselves and making changes to become a better person. It definitely made me want to start vacationing in exotic places for Christmas.
