A nice little book with some helpful tips. The links to meditations were a nice addition to the content.

A nice little book which I have found really helpful - I would buy this as a present for a friend. Nicely written and I really liked it.

A nice distraction from Lockdown. This book was a nice way to focus and choose goals for happiness. Many self-help books give too much information and too many tips but this book focused on making specific goals to achieve a happier life. Everyone would benefit from slowing down a little and focusing on what truly makes us happy.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I requested this book because I have really been into journaling in the past couple of years and wanted to see what this could offer me to add into my route. Tara has happiness down to a science. The Book is broken up into 7 Steps. That range from health, finding happiness, to the stepping stones to find your version of happiness. I know that happiness is not the same for everyone. I like the boxes that say helpful hints. The book was useful and there are some parts I am going to keep using.

A Guide to Happiness is a short book, focusing on meditations we can do to improve our happiness. The cover itself does a great job of lifting the mood.

The meditations are good and well explained and there is one for each section which is helpful as they all focus on different aspects talked about in the book. At the end of each section, the author provides an anecdotal example of what has been discussed, and although this is a nice way to connect with the author, I felt anonymous case studies may have worked better for the reader to relate to.

We have a short introduction and dive straight into the meditations. I feel this book assume you are already reading up on self-care or have read the author's other books, as there isn't too much to lead us into the book.

I was hoping for a bit more from this book, but if it is bought as a coffee table book, which you can pick up when feeling low to complete a quick meditation, then I think it does its job. I do appreciate the 'Happiness Plan' at the end to help pull everything together. Overall, this would be a great present to help lift someone's mood if they aren't looking for a too serious mental health guide.

All the steps I would expect in a “happiness” book, plus a few more. Having the meditations both linked AND written out was helpful.

#AGuideToHappiness is a short read, but gives you guided meditations and small creative tasks to encourage you to immediately take action!
If you are someone who connects with meditation and are willing to explore their own minds, this book will help them to find their happiness. There are also tips such as surrounding yourself with your favourite items that ,are you happy, eg perfume, clothes, and having things like films that make you happy on hand.

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for my free advance copy in return for an unbiased review. I will be purchasing for my friends!

It is okay but not really to my liking. Can be helpful to some to add to any other self-care you are doing.

This is a nice little book and would make a nice gift for someone struggling with mental health an needing some support and guidance, but was really not for me.

There's never a bad time to read a guide to happiness, especially during these trying times! I really enjoyed this uplifting book and am excited for more from Tara Ward!

Thank you Netgalley and Tara for the ARC!

A Guide to Happiness by Tara Ward.
This quick guide offers helpful tips and information on using mindfulness and meditation. Seven steps build a way for making happiness a regular and natural part of our lives. The chemistry of our emotions and hormones is explained easily and concisely to help readers understand how and why we feel the way we do, depending on the situation. Several meditation exercises are placed throughout this guide. One of my favorites is the happiness cloud. The book closes with the Happiness Plan which involves questions and exercises to help gear our minds to daily happiness. A fun guide to happiness!

How do you condense “happiness” into one book? This guide is part self-help, part psychological research attempting to define what is happiness and tries to answer how do we achieve it?

This was a little underwhelming and felt more like an “introductory guide” to happiness. There is a link to online guided meditations to accompany the book, a happiness plan and exercises to practice but I wanted more. It was a quick read, but lacking the depth I was after.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a place to start on their journey to happiness, but perhaps not to someone who’s looking for extra things to add to their existing toolkit.

This was shorter than I expected. Some of the nods to things like meditation were nice to see but unfortunately this book was not for me.

This a quick and fabulous read on how you can work on being happier. It’s how to work on finding happiness from the inside through gratitude and mindfulness. There are 7 meditations and a step by step plan on how to be happier.

This book needed more than meditation exercises. It needed to have some writing exercises such as a gratitude list of keeping a journal. I was expecting a Happiness Project kind of book, but this was not that. I felt like you could read it all in one day and be done with it when really happiness takes a lot longer than a day to achieve.
IN the e-book it says page 118, but my copy does not have a page 118. I don’t know if this is because I have an ARC(advanced reader’s copy) or if it’s faulty. I would assume if you decided to get this as an e-book when it comes out then it would have more than 40 pages in it. It is a nice step to being happier, but I feel like downloading a mediation app would be just as promising.

Tara Ward’s, a Guide to Happiness, has been the perfect reminder of what happiness is and has helped me find what my triggers are for being happy. It is so easy to get absorbed into negative thoughts and this has helped me find easy ways to remove those. This book is full of useful tips, affirmations and guides for everyone to find happiness which can easily be implemented into a daily routine.

The book is easy to follow and full of different techniques so there is bound to be one that suits anyone, particularly with the ‘happiness plan’ for readers to complete. This allows a ‘journal-like’ process for you to fully understand what each step does and help you understand your own thoughts.

This is definitely one that I will return to in the future. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for this ARC.

Beautiful cover! This was a quick, light read on the value of meditation and mindfulness, as a way to work towards happiness. The author provides personal examples, which I found helpful in providing a useful, practical perspective.
I also found her approach to be intriguing-as she describes 'levels of happiness' which offer a fundamental approach, with the intention of working towards your 'happiness cloud' that you can pull from when needed. This book offer a refreshing guide, with useful tips such as, "find a way to say, I am happy right now' with creative, interesting ways to build your toolkit.
Thank you NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing Limited, for the opportunity to review this wonderful book!

I thoroughly enjoyed the mindful excises in this book. This was a very quick read. Great job! I look forward to reading other books by Tara Ward. Build Your Confidence was excellent as well.

A quick and easy read with lots of simple and beautiful meditations that can be put into practice right away. I loved all of the practices, especially the idea of breathing in colours that make me happy. I will add these tools to my routine as they really worked well for me. The information about choosing your happiness also makes a lot of sense. I would love to have an audio book of this!

A kind thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to review this book.

There are so many "Self - Help" books out there to purchase, it is hard to work out which type of book would suit you. Plus do they really work?

I was drawn to this book as everyone would love to feel more happiness but the key words in the title for me were mindfulness and meditation. As someone who uses both notions on a regular basis I was keen to learn how the author can use these ideas in the pursuit of happiness.

The layout of the book is very easy to follow and does guide you through a process using meditation as the source of understanding your own personal journey to happiness. I enjoyed using this book as it made every step personal to me as if I was on my own journey rather than following someone else's journey. I did like the author's personal examples and hint and tips, it made the book and the ideas real and believable.

Self help books can feel overwhelming by long words, science and over zealous ideas, but this book is simple to use and understand. The idea of using mediation is gently included rather that forced. Another great part to the book is the audio links to the meditations - which is a good idea to help with the meditations themselves rather than trying to remember what the book says.

Would I recommend this book -yes I would. to those interested in the idea of meditation especially those who have never meditated before.
