Paige Northwood is a freelance BSL interpreter whose skills are often called upon by the police in cases were deaf witnesses may be needed for vital evidence. When a child goes missing from a local BSL school trip and the headmaster is found murdered, Paige is called upon to manage communication between the pupils and the investigating police officers.

However, Paige is shocked to the core when her dodgy ex appears to be a member of staff at the school. Can she put aside her past to deal with the investigation appropriately? I do feel that a lot of the back story of this relationship must have been covered in the previous book in the series which I have just discovered exists, however the book can be read as a standalone novel too.

At times I did find myself incredibly frustrated with the teenagers in the novel and Paige's role may have been a tad unrealistic at times but I still found myself hooked in and guessing a number of people as the culprit (all of which were wrong).

Overall, an enjoyable read but not your typical cheery Christmas novel if that's what you're looking for.

Loved getting another piece of Paige's story in Silent Night. I enjoyed this book a little more than the first. The crime was a little more detailed and left me guessing till the very end. I 100% thought it was Mike, and I hate him even more after learning who he was as a person. Loved the development of Paige's character and getting to learn more of what she went through. I sometimes found myself struggling with her characters decisions in the first book, but didn't have that issue with this story.

From start to finish I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and kept me interested throughout. It was a who done it type storyline that had me changing my mind who it was after each chapter.
The only downside for me was that I hadn’t read the first book by this author as I didn’t know about it. This book did however fill you in on parts of book 1 so that you didn’t feel like you had missed out too much.
I will look forward to reading more by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for kindly providing me with a digital copy of this book for review.
The premise of this book is what really grabbed me- I don’t think I’ve ever read a mystery or thriller set in a deaf school before. That might be because I don’t read an enormous amounts of thrillers, but I do read a lot of mysteries and the idea did still seem original and interesting.
The reason I don’t read all that many thrillers is because I don’t like too much gruesome graphic details, or the psychological thriller that can really make me too uncomfortable to enjoy the book at all. But this book is more on the mystery of things I would modestly say. There’s nothing that is going to scare you or make you fear the dark. There is just a really good mystery that is going to keep you guessing. The dual perspective moments are also really interesting and help keep the pace moving forward.
I did enjoy this book quite a bit and I’m suitably interested enough to want to carry on with the series.

Great second book in the series. Perfect if you are looking for a seasonal thriller which is gripping and twisty.

WOW. This book held my interest from beginning to end. I never knew where the turn of the page would take me.

This was a really well written and engaging thriller.

What makes this thriller stand out is the fact it focuses on the deaf community and an interpreter being the main character. I've never read a thriller with such good physical disability representation.

I thought this thriller was really well written. It was well paced and engaging.

I was trying to guess the ending as the book went along but I definitely did not see it coming.

The only thing I didn't like about this book was that it focused a lot on the relationship of the main character which wasn't all that interesting.

However, the rest of the book was very good and I loved the setting. The snow made it very claustrophobic and atmospheric.

I highly recommend this thriller and I'll definitely be checking out their other books

TW: domestic abuse, suicide, murder, violence and pedophilia/child abuse references

A great page turner and thriller.

I enjoyed the switch between the missing boy and the other characters - a great read.

I read the first book in this series and enjoyed the perspective of writing, loved how different it was to other perspectives of thrillers that I’ve read and felt it was a really great way to see into the world without it being forced on me and without me understanding it fully. It was also good to not be following a detective per se or a housewife. I enjoyed that. But the plot is a little predictable and for veteran thriller readers this might be too tame and too by the book for them.

I went into this book with high expectations. I had not read the first book in the series but had heard great things about it. I was not disappointed!

Silent Night follows Paige, who interprets for the police in situations involving people who are deaf. A boy from a school for the deaf goes missing during a school trip. One of the teachers goes to look for him and is found nearby, murdered.

I have never before read a book that has involved the perspective of the deaf community, this was so incredibly unique and I absolutely loved it. The passages where characters communicated through sign-language were so vivid in my mind. I think it actually helped me to picture the scene.

Paige has an emotive and harrowing background. I am not sure if reading the first book would add any extra details. But it is entirely possible to read Silent Night as a stand alone novel. Pattison's writing draws you in and gives you all the information you need to be able to follow what is going on. That being said I will be hunting down a copy of the first book ASAP, because I loved this one so much! I will also definitely be following this series from now on to see what happens to Paige.

Thrillers are my favourite genre of book, but often I can figure out where the storyline is going very quickly. That did not happen with this novel. I was completely blindsided by the plot twists, which kept me on the edge of my seat.

I want to thank netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read a copy of this book so that I can leave an honest review. I would recommend this series to any thriller fan, especially someone who is looking for something unique!

Silent Night is the second book from Paige Northwood series and this is the first book that I read from this author.

There are two mysteries involved in this story. A missing deaf student, Leon and a dead head teacher. Did Leon kill him? Or did he saw who did it? Is he safe? Where did he go? Or did the killer abducted him? Too many questions in my head when I read this book.

Paige, an interpreter is called by police to help them with this case. Btw I don't like some of her actions. She is a frustrating character goshhhh!!

I thought I know who is the killer but damn turns out it's not that person but the killer is another person hahahha

Thank you Netgalley, publisher and author for Silent Night ARC!

This is the second book in this series. I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first one as there was a lot more story to it. I like the fact that it’s a police procedural but with the unusual twist of it being told by a BSL interpreter makes it very different to other police procedurals. My only criticism is that in some parts the main character Paige, becomes a little bit ‘Miss Marple’ for me, going off investigating on her own trying to solve the case and often coming up with ideas and information before the police !

This is the first book I read from the author, and I loved it. The story is centered around the deaf community, with an interpreter joining the police to investigate the murder of the headteacher and the missing of one of the students.

I enjoyed the storyline and characters. For me, the story is quite fast-paced and kept me guessing till the end. The ending is surprising. I haven't seen the plot twist is coming like that.

I’m looking forward to reading other books from this author in the future. Overall, this was a good read for me. Thank you, Netgalley, for providing me the eARC in return with an honest review.

Thanks to Avon books & Netgalley for gifting me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review! This is the second mystery novel in the Paige Northwood series. I haven’t read the first book but didn’t have any trouble reading this as a stand alone. The story starts off with a bang once the body of a teacher for the deaf children is discovered in the snow. At the same time a resident student of the same school goes missing and our main character, Paige, is called in by the police to serve as interpreter. What follows is a full investigation of what could have happened that fateful night. While each student and member of staff is interrogated, multiple times, we learn a little more about Paige’s backstory and personal life. I felt the story moved forward rather slowly switching from the night of the murder to the present day and after a while I confess I kind of lost interest. We soon discover that nobody is telling the truth and the reason for them lying just didn’t convince me! I felt many things weren’t relevant to the story and certain behavior just didn’t seem realistic. I’m sorry to say it just wasn’t for me...

This was a great read. I love the story of the characters, I loved the sinister nature to the plot, and I loved that it was not totally predictable

Silent Night is a fast-paced story full of twists and turns. The author does a great job of educating the reader on what it is like for a deaf person to communicate. I enjoyed the characters and was kept guessing until the end. This is a well written story centered around a deaf community, using an interpreter to unwind a lot of mystery.

A murder based at a residential school for deaf children is the setting for this story. I chose to read the first book in the series first. But I think the book works also as a stand alone.
There are many twists and turns and I did not at any stage suspect the culprit.
As a side story there is a domestic violence issue too. Both stories kept my attention.
I have already pre ordered the next book in this series!

Thank you to Nell Pattison, Avon Books and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of Silent Night.

This was the first book I had read by Nell and had I realised this was not a standalone I would have purchased Silent House for a bit of background on the lead character Paige who is a sign language interpreter assisting police with investigations.

As someone who has lost half my hearing in my left ear and knowing the affect this has had on me to date it was really interesting and welcome to read a novel told in this perspective and really creative of the author who I understand also has less of hearing and specialises in BSL. This opens up a corridor of writing where you realise how many opportunities can be had in writing without the full acitemess of all senses, without hearing creaks, whispers and creates another dimension.

I really liked that the plot was centred around a missing teenager giving plenty of scope for varying outcomes and possibilities. Having three teens myself and a group of teens at the centre of the story I found the writing reflective and current of young adults today which can't be said for a number of books I've read recently, so I commend Nell on this.

I found this to be such an enjoyable read that I will go ahead and read Silent House and also purchase any subsequent books released. I'm flummoxed by some of the reviews on this which I think represent the challenges overcome and considered in the subject matter very commendable, inclusive and adds to the story for the better.

A dead teacher and a missing 15-year-old who was a student of the deaf school, Paige was called to interpret the sign language by the police. This was my second book by this author and I got the opportunity to listen to the audiobook too.
Secrets were enmeshed with the statements given by all the characters and it was up to Paige to decipher the silent language spoken. Murder mystery in a storm had intrigue and suspense and I liked how the author gave Paige and me just enough to understand some parts of the lives of the characters.
Overall, a good read/listen which kept me engrossed barring the part read by one of the narrators.
