Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

I devoured Naomi Joy’s Do Her No Harm in less than a day. Beguiling, shocking and addictive, Do Her No Harm packs twist after twist in a tense and terrifying read I was still engrossed in at three in the morning.

On August 21st, Tabitha Rice had disappeared without a trace. What little evidence there was all points to murder, but the police have absolutely no clue as to who could have murdered her. Everyone thinks that her husband Rick could be the killer, however, there is absolutely no evidence to connect him to Tabitha’s murder. Her best friend Annabella is convinced that there are further truths to be discovered and she is determined to get to the bottom of this perplexing mystery. Tabitha meant everything to her and she vows to ensure that justice is served and that her killer pays for killing her best friend. However, as Annabella begins to delve into the past, she begins to wonder about how well she knew Tabitha. Her best friend had plenty of secrets. Secrets which she had never revealed to anyone but which will be uncovered in the course of Annabella’s investigation.

The deeper she goes into this case, the more she realizes that she might not have known Tabitha at all. As her investigation yields more questions than answers, Annabella begins to ask herself, was Tabitha really murdered? Or could she have been involved in something so twisted and dangerous that Tabitha ended up paying the ultimate price?

A fabulous page-turner from a writer at the top of her game, Do Her No Harm is a chilling and shocking tale about twisted bonds and dangerous betrayals with surprises and revelations that readers will not see coming. Naomi Joy captures her readers’ attention from the start and keeps them glued to the pages unable to bear the suspense and desperate to find out what is going to happen next.

Pacy, scary and brilliantly plotted, Do Her No Harm is a juicy psychological crime thriller readers will struggle to put down.

Rating: 4.5 Stars

This is a thriller. The pacing did not better me, but it was just boring to me most of the book. I would not say this was the best or worst thriller I have read. It was just ok. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This book follows the disappearance of Tabitha Rice, who disappeared 5 years ago and has never been found. Her husband is the prime suspect as he was having an affair at the time of his wife’s disappearance. But what really happened to Tabitha? Annabella knows there is more to the story than what the police are telling. Tabitha was her best friend and she vows to uncover the truth.

The story is told from three different POVs which I really enjoyed and although initially it was slow it definitely picks up pace as more and more twists and turns emerged, it kept me hooked and turning the pages!

A pretty typical well written psychological thriller, a big thank you to Netgalley and Naomi Joy for granting me an ARC in exchange for this review.

I always enjoy books from this author and this one is no exception. It hooks you in from the start and keeps you gripped all the way through. I can't wait to read more from them in the future - great book.

Enjoyed this thriller! Love the twists to find out the answer to all the secrets! I did get sidetracked in the middle, but I am glad I followed through and finished!

I can honestly say that I didn’t see that ending coming which I love in a novel. The way it moves from character to character is a bit hard to get use to but I’m glad I did.

This for me started out a slow burner but once it got going wow I loved it. This is my usual genre of book that I enjoy with its twists that keep you gripped and on the edge of your seat.
Many thanks to both the author & net galley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

First of all the plot grabbed me , This book had me guessing . The story has a past and present theme which I really liked. The book flowed at a good pace. The characters were believable so many twists and and turns , I was unsure of who to believe.

I couldn't really connect with this as much as I wanted. to. It jumps from past to present which does generally work but I just didn't connect with the main characters. There are a lot of excellent reviews for this book so I know its just my preference and not necessarily the book.

Its definitely worth a read though.

Thank you Netgalley.

I’ve read a previous book by this author and it was so good. Do Her No Harm is an excellent read.

Annabellas friend Tabitha disappeared. Even though her husband Rick was a suspect the police never found her. The story is told through several points of view and changes from past to present.

I found this to be a slow burn kinda read. Plenty of twists- I enjoyed it.

I haven't read anything by this author, and I'm pretty sure that i haven't even heard about this author but i was pleasantly surprised and for that i wanna say thank you to Netgalley. I will most definitely be reading more from Naomi Joy!

The book start slowly by introducing us to different people who aid the story. From the start it’s quite clear that Tabitha is not everyone thinks and she is interesting haracter. Her friendship with Annabella is suspiciou with a hint of obsession.

Do Her No Harm is a fun read that will keep you guessing the twists. While some of it may be predictable, there is still much to enjoy.

Having read The Truth, I knew I was in for a dizzying domestic noir/psychological thriller with this new novel. This one starts out slowing, explaining the plot, introducing the main characters, through chapters with their POV and then builds in the second half when everything you think you know you suddenly think you don’t know! Tabitha, a receptionist at a Botox Clinic suddenly disappears and her best friend, Annabel, a technician from the clinic feels guilty as she really wasnt listening the last time they spoke. Bella decides to investigate and keep tabs on the husband Rick, cos it’s always the husband, right? Enter a true crime podcast wanting to investigate the disappearance with Bella’s help and we are off and running. The book turns dark as more of their back story becomes less blurry and we feel the panic and dread settling in. Definite solid 4 out of 5.

Tabitha Rice has been missing 5 years. She has never been seen or heard from since that time. The police could never figure out what happened to her. Their prime suspect has always been her husband, Rick. Their was trouble in their marriage and the spouse is always the first person looked at.

Annabella was Tabby's best friend. She just 'knows' that Rick killed her so he could start a new life. She has even gone so far as to hire a private detective to follow Rick, look for Tabitha. Annabella vows to uncover the truth.

But what she's finding is not the Tabitha that she knew .... Tabitha had secrets... secrets that might have got her killed.... by more than one person.

This intricate plot alternates between the time Tabitha disappeared, five years later, and 15 years earlier when Tabitha met her husband. The characters are incredible .. leaving the reader unsure of who to believe, who to like, and who was suspect. Twists and turns are like being in a house of mirrors at a carnival. The ending was quite surprising.

Many thanks to the author /Aria Fiction / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Wow!!! Well it shouldn’t have taken me as long as it did to read this. Getting back into work and into juggling my reading has been a challenge. I have to start by saying I love and I’m so grateful to be a book blogger. The best thing for me is discovering stories and authors that may well have passed me by. I will most definitely be reading more from Naomi Joy – the final hours worth of Do Her No Harm was a mixture of on the edge of your seat, full on action and twists a plenty.

There’s a slow build up of this novel and there’s a lot of then and now featuring different people who aid the story. From the very start it’s quite clear that Tabitha has been through one hell of a rollercoaster ride and she craves love and support. Her friendship with Annabella is paramount but there’s a hint of obsession there.

It’s hard to know what to say as there is a major character who changes everything and OMG it will blow your mind in that respect. It’s that saying you never saw it coming and I didn’t but in hindsight part of it could have been expected.

An absolute unexpected joy that will keep you on your toes from start to finish. I look forward to reading more from Naomi if this novel is anything to go by. It seems August and the start of September I have mostly been reading Thrillers and they have all given me different senses of pleasure.

What do you do when your best friend is gone and no one, but you, is wiling to dig any deeper?. Naomi Joy takes us on a roller coaster ride in Do Her No Harm that leaves the reader questioning every step the characters take. Although not every twist hit its target for me, I did find myself racing through the book. Thanks to Aria and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Tabby disappeared five years ago and Annabella still can't let it go. Tabby's husband has moved on. The news media has move don. But Annabella knows there is more to all of this and she is determined to find out, no matter what the costs. I think the latter is one of the key themes of not just Do Her No Harm, but many suspense novels. Humans are often willing to go to the very end in their search for truth. Many of us absolutely will follow a strange noise up into the attic, because we need to know what's there. The brain is such a miraculous thing that anything it images is most likely worse than reality. Thus, Annabella finds herself grasping for straws, trusting a lousy private detective and partnering up with a journalist turned True Crime podcaster. But when do you stop? And will you recognize yourself once you have found the truth?

Annabella's private detective has failed her. He has found no proof Tabby was murdered and doesn't want to keep digging. Desperate, Annabella agrees to work with a True Crime podcaster who wants to shine a spotlight on Tabby's disappearance. The prime suspect is her husband, Rick, who has moved on and always seemed suspiciously calm. As the hunt for the truth brings her to the brink of distraction, Annabella finds herself making mistakes left, right and centre. Who can she trust? Did she know Tabby at all? And does she know herself? Not all of these questions are entirely answered to my satisfaction. There are a few quite shocking twists and turns in the final third of Do Her No Harm but a thriller aficionado will see quite a few coming. Overall I found Do Her No Harm very exciting while reading it, but once it was finished I realized it hadn't left much of an impression on me. I think part of this was due to not connecting well with the main characters which means that I wasn't truly invested in the resolution.

This is my first novel by Naomi Joy, although I know many people enjoyed her previous novel The Liars. Do Her No Harm is split up between Annabella's narrative in the present and Tabby's narrative leading up to her disappearance. As both edge their way towards the end, the tension in the novel ramps up enormously, making for an exciting second half. The first half of the novel is a bit slower, as Joy tries to put all her pieces in the right place. Sadly, Annabella wasn't fully realized for me as a character. Throughout Do Her No Harm she made some choices which seemed very odd and unnatural. I think part of this was forced by the plot and the twists and turns Joy had coming up, but it was a shame to not be able to connect with her the way you'd hope. Rick remained a shadowy character for much of it as well, as did many of the other side characters. A slight warning comes with the book in regards to one of the main characters having OCD. It's not a major point but is a key part of her characterization and comes up frequently. Aside from that, Tabby and Annabella both worked at a beautician's and there's frequent mention of plastic surgery. Although I don't have an issue with it, I found some of the descriptions regarding it in this book almost unpleasant.

Do Her No Harm is a fun read that will keep you engaged for as long as the pages last. While some of it may be predictable to tried and tested Thriller readers, there is much to enjoy. I will keep an eye out for any future books by Naomi Joy.

If you’re considering having Botox in the near future, you may want to avoid this book.

Much of the story takes place at a fictional aesthetic clinic, where two of the main characters work. But before you start assuming Do Her No Harm is all about gossip and beauty treatments, think again, because this tale has a much darker side (much to my delight).

I was intrigued by Annabella and her determination to discover what happened to her missing friend, Tabitha. I turned each page, desperate to know what she would find out next.

The author kept me on my toes throughout. So, just when I thought I had everything figured out, she threw in curveball after curveball.

And by setting her eBook at an aesthetic clinic, she had lots of material to play with involving treatments such as Botox. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever read a fiction book involving the aesthetic industry before, so it made an interesting change.

Each character is well written and distinct, with their own flaws – and secrets, too.

Do Her No Harm is a thrilling, escapist read, with plenty of surprises. I highly recommend it.

This is my second novel by Naomi Joy having previously read The Truth and it was every bit as good.
In Do Her No Harm, Annabella's best friend Tabitha (Tabby) Rice mysteriously vanished five years ago and Annabella has always suspected that Tabby's husband, Rick Priestley, had something to do with her disappearance, however, there's no proof that she was murdered by him. A private investigator she hires uncovers precious little, so she teams up with podcaster Kay Robero, who is obsessed with the case, to establish the truth.
The story is told principally by Tabby, Annabella and Rick and glides effortlessly between the past and present. Psychological crime thrillers do not come any more exciting than Do Her No Harm which was intense and nerve-twisting. Naomi Joy's masterful writing completely beguiled me as nothing was quite what it seemed. It incited me and got into my psyche, refusing to leave, thus I read it in a single sitting. With a strong plot, it's written with precisely the right amount of drive, and the interesting characters were a combination of the affable and the abhorrent. As the three narrators, Annabella, Tabby and Rick each willed me to believe them as they told me their backstories and versions of events in the lead up to Tabitha vanishing, I found myself switching my opinions. While this chilling, taut and compulsive thriller headed towards the startling conclusion, the tension and suspense really escalated and I was caught off guard. A must-read for thriller worshippers.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Aria via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

The Blurb :
One unsolved murder. A best friend determined to right the wrongs of the past.
On the 21st August Tabitha Rice disappeared without a trace. All the signs point to murder, but no signs point to a murderer. The easiest answer is her husband, Rick. But he protests his innocence and there is little proof he is the murderer.
Annabella knows there is more to the story than what the police are telling. Tabitha was her best friend and she vows to uncover the truth.
As Annabella delves further into the past, she uncovers sides to Tabitha that she never saw coming, and she finds herself asking the question... Was this murder? Or is there more to Tabitha Rice's story than meets the eye?

My Thoughts :
The story is about Tabitha Rice, who disappeared 5 years ago on a night out without a trace. Her best friend Annabella never got over the disappearance, and despite all eyes on Tabitha’s husband Rick as at the time he was having an affair. They are no closer to solving what happened on that night. That is until Kay Robero, who is a Crime Podcaster and facinated with the story decides to feature it on her Podcast, things then take a different turn when we learn Tabitha had been keeping scerets from her best friend and maybe there is more to her disappearance than meets the eye!.
I did struggle with this at first, all the jumping between timelines can get confusing and you need to really concentrate to know which character you are with. It has a lot of twists and turns to it which keeps your eye on the ball and guessing throughout.
Overall a great storyline and great writing from Naomi Joy, looking forward to more from this Author.

This book starts off with a scene from five years ago and I instantly wanted to know what happened to Tabby. The book is split into different parts and alternates between different points in time (now, 5 years ago and 15 years ago) and the reader hearing different sides of the unfolding story and past of the characters (Annabelle, Tabitha and Rick). This works well and I didn't find it confusing (unless I tried to read the book in short bursts as it's difficult to keep track); the story flows well and kept me wanting to know more.

Most of the 'action' takes place in the final part of the book and some readers may find the early parts a little slower than they were hoping for; this is not a fast paced thriller but it is a good read. The early parts of the book really set the history of the characters and the disappearance of Tabby but the drama doesn't come for some time.

I had no idea throughout the book what had happened to Tabby; I had a couple of theories but they didn't come close to the truth which I found out only as I saw the story unfold on the pages. I found the conclusion to be tied up and didn't leave me with any outstanding loose ends.

There are also some serious underlying themes in this book surrounding mental health affecting more than one of the characters we encounter. A book of mystery, deceit, revenge and suspicion.
