I love reading Elin Hildebrand and have enjoyed this entire trilogy. A different setting for her books that conjures up the allure of island living. A real beach read!

I was looking forward to finishing the journey with Irene, Huck, and the rest of the St. John crew. Elin Hilderbrand did not disappoint! In a world that is so heavy right now, where it is difficult to take a vacation, I appreciate picking up a book where I feel like I am in the Caribbean with friends.

Be sure to read the other two books in the series first, and then treat yourself to Troubles in Paradise. Hilderbrand finishes the trilogy perfectly. Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this breath of fresh air.

Great ending to the St. John Trilogy! If you're new to this series, I would highly recommend reading the first two. They are very good and they'll be very helpful in reading this one. The story pretty much picks up where the second book stopped. I feel like there was a satisfying ending to everyone's story. However, if there was a fourth book, I'd be all for it! I thought it was well written and definitely help my attention. Recommended!

I'm generally a fan of Elin Hilderbrand, but I simply didn't feel like this was one of her better books. To be fair, I did not read the other books in the series before reading this one. However, I'm honestly not sure it would have made a difference. My biggest issue was the characters and their total lack of a sympathetic nature. I simply couldn't stand all but a few of them. I was also not a fan of the style of storytelling - it felt like part documentary, part reality TV. However, there was something about the last third or so of the book that for whatever reason picked up for me, got me past my issues, and helped redeem the book. Without that, this would have been a solid 2-star fail for me.

After uprooting her life in the States, Irene Steele has just settled in at the villa on St. John where her husband Russ had been living a double life. But a visit from the FBI shakes her foundations, and Irene once again learns just how little she knew about the man she loved. I really loved this series because I have spent time on St. John (my last trip was in 2017, one month before the hurricane devastated the island) and I love how eloquently she spoke of the businesses and attractions that call the island home. The characters and their stories wrap up nicely and I think her tribute to the islanders during the storm was so well done! As always, Hilderbrand does a fantastic job of creating characters and families who you hate to say goodbye to at the end of her books. Now I'm not-so-patiently waiting for her next book. rating: 4.5 out of 5 ⭐️

I am a longtime fan of Hilderbrand, but her books are hit or miss for me. This one certainly wasn't my favorite and I would not recommend it to new readers of Hilderbrand's work. If they are fans and have read the others in the miniseries, then they should continue with this installment.

Troubles in Paradise is the third and final book in the Paradise trilogy. All together, it is a series full of drama, secrets, scandal... and of course, paradise (St. John, USVI). This book was my least favorite book in this trilogy. I feel like the author added new characters and storyline last minute in the second half of this book just to draw it out into a full size novel, it could've ended after the mystery had been solved, but then she threw in a hurricane and new characters that I don't understand how they tie into the story. Overall, this is an entertaining series and would be great for some light vacation/beach reading.

I was excited to receive my copy to see how this series ended. From the moment it started.. The characters came back to me and their struggles were recapped. This was great for me to get my memory going and I am sure it would be helpful for someone who didn’t read 1&2. The characters kept developing in this book and I almost thought there wouldn’t be enough pages to close out each persons story. But Elin Hilderbrand did an excellent job of keeping the story lines well written and writing an ending that really satisfied my curiosity. I always enjoy reading Elin Hilderbrand’s books. They are well written and always remind me of good times and good people. This was a four star read for me. I have recommended it to friends and family. See my review on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

This was the conclusion to the Paradise trilogy. It is important that you read them in order as each book builds upon the ones before it. This is the story of the Steele family. When Russ, the patriarch, is killed in a plane crash, what the family finds out brings them all to the Virgin Islands and changes their lives forever. The Steeles are all flawed characters. They are injured by the betrayal, but still want to do what is right and move on with their lives. It is easier to say than to do. They continue to make mistakes while trying to find their way and I think I like them for that reason. There is a happily ever after for each of them, but it takes a while to get to it. There is drama, some romance, a lot of hurt feelings and family love that all works together to bring them to their final destination. A great wrap up for this series. The addition of the hurricane brings another element of realism to this story. If you are a lover of Elin Hilderbrand's stories, then you will not be disappointed with this one. I definitely recommend this book and series.

Her books are always page turners and this one is no exception! Good wrap up to the trilogy. Hopefully Elin is not really retiring!!

First off, I want to give a shout out to Hilderbrand for changing something that bugged me so much in the first two books of the series. This book has NO drinking and snorkeling, in fact at one point she even says that the people have to wait until after snorkeling to drink alcohol. So props to her for either reading the reviews or doing her research.
That out of the way, this was a decent ending to the trilogy, if a bit drawn out. All of the same things about Hilderbrand's books were here: the endless name dropping of places, the weird character names, her penchant for always saying first and last names, the repetition of things over and over (and over) and the (ugh) infidelity. However, the reader can palpably feel the author's love for St John, and as I absolutely love it there too, I got a bit wistful, especially in the end after the hurricane. I know that Irma and Maria just devastated the area in 2017, and so her homage to the loss and the resilience of the residents is touching.
Nothing was very surprising, the people ended up with who I thought they would end up with. I disliked Irene's personality change with regards to her husband's betrayal and how she took it out on Huck. It seemed very bizarre and out of character with how she had been portrayed in previous installments. The massive info dump from "Marilyn Monroe" was a lazy way to resolve that storyline and I hate it when writers can't figure out a way to get the information across and resort to having one character tell everything rather than letting it unfold as part of the story. Pure laziness.
Overall, fine ending to the series. Hilderbrand and I can part ways amicably now.

This book was the perfect wrap up to the trilogy of the paradise series! Just like all the others this one sucked me right in and I could not put it down! Loved this book!

I loved this series. The characters were well developed and easy to like. The story was interesting and I really feel like I’ve been to the Virgin Islands now. I thought this lady book really completed the series and I’m sorry it’s come to an end. I would definitely recommend.

I read this with reading the first two books in the series. It was easy to pick up the characters and plot. The story of the Steele family and the consequences of his business associations. His death has resulted in the family learning of his double life and second family in the Virgin Islands. As this plot unfolds, a hurricane is looming, new Beginnings and lives unfold. The truth c9mrs out in the end and this trilogy is neatly wrapped up. You can enjoy this book as a stand alone.

I am a loyal Elin Hidlerbrand reader, and love the escapism in her books. It's amazing how she re-creates the pre-hurricane USVIs, allows the reader to enjoy those memories, while still bringing us back to reality with the devastation they suffered. At times, the language didn't feel as complex as some of her previous titles, and there was a lot of recap from the 2 prior books in the trilogy. That being said, we got the answers we've been waiting so long for and the characters' arcs were brought to satisfying and meaningful conclusions.

Troubles in Paradise picks up where we left off in What Happens in Paradise. The Steele family finds themselves kicked out of the villa on Little Cinnamon. Irene has to figure out what her next steps will be, Baker has to find a place to live, and Cash has to figure out what he'll do with his future.

As the characters work to figure out how to navigate their new situations, they also uncover the truth about Russ Steele's business dealings.

The ending is tied up neatly, though a hurricane is on its way to ravage the islands.

While I enjoyed this series, and this final installment, I do think that it was the least captivating of the trio. Many storylines were predictable, and we honestly had most figured out by the end of book two.

It wasn't without Hilderbrand's iconic setting descriptions that transplant you to a beautiful place, especially when most of us can't really go anywhere still!

Troubles in Paradise is the last of the Paradise series about the Steele family who learns that their husband/father had a secret and scandalous life in the Virgin Islands. The book picks up with Irene, Cash and Baker all living permanently on the island, trying to figure out their new lives, while dealing with the fallout of Russ’ indiscretions and illegal activity. It was all Elin - with so many fun descriptions of local restaurants and bars and local delicacies together with the angst of complicated romances and relationships. I always enjoy following her characters on their journey, as if I know them at this point. There is a surprise ending for Elin that I loved. So now we wait to see what series she throws at us next!

Before I began reading the Paradise Trilogy, it had been a few years since I read a book by Elin Hilderbrand. I feel like the last book I read of hers was The Rumor, which I enjoyed. This Trio of books really sucked me back in. I was a little sad when I realized this was the end of the story.

In Troubles in Paradise, after the loss of her husband, Irene and her sons Baker and Cash have set up roots in St. John, their husband/father Russell's second secret home. Where of course he lived with his now deceased mistress Rosie and secret daughter Maia. I enjoyed spending more time with the Steele family. Certain decisions the characters made in this book were frustrating because it felt like they were all just reacting to events instead of working through their problems. I had to remind myself that Irene, Baker, Cash, and most of the central people in this book were still very much grieving for Russell and/or Rosie in their own ways. This book wrapped up the their stories just enough not to feel too neat. I loved the use of St. Johns' locals in a POV which really brought to mind the community POV in Brit Bennett's book The Mothers.

Overall, The Paradise Trilogy made me really want a vacation, but I was happy for the brief escape!
