Still the same issues with the first book in this series. I can't quite keep up with the author's writing style. The story and the characters are not so much farfetched as they are inconsistent. Another thing I also noticed is that it gets confusing because of the various issues and people that we have to deal with. I think it would be better for the story to be simplified.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had it all: family drama, mystery, and a little romance all bundled into one. I highly recommend it for those who enjoy a mystery.

This book was addictive from the start.
The authors writing style is captivating and really pulls you in to this riveting, suspenseful story. I loved the characterisation, the detail put in to each individual was remarkable and really helped to gel the story together.
Full of twists and turns, this is a truly fantastic thriller,

This is Book 2 of the Annalisse Series. Having read Stolen Obsession and loving it, I decided to read Book 2. This is a page-turner like its predecessor. It is full of mystery, intrigue, and action along with the continuing romance with Alec. You don't need to read book 1, as the author gives you background throughout the book,

So, I love a good mystery- murder and romance pretty much makes for a delicious, if unlikely, combination of factors that I enjoy in a book, especially in the cozier months of the year.

I requested this book not realizing that it is the second in a series, but much like other mystery series I have read it's not necessary to read the first in order to track with what's happening in the story.

Mildly suspenseful, if a bit slow in parts, 'Spent Identity' is a great read for cozy mystery lovers to curl up with by a fire.

I read this not realizing it was book 2 at first. It would be helpful to read the first, but I was able to follow just fine. I've since gone back and read the first one and definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed the mystery, it kept me guessing. There were so many secrets and I was completely invested in the story. Highly recommended and I can't wait for more.

Spent Identity by Marlene M Bell is the second book in the Annalisse Series. I was sent this book along with the first one, which helped to set up the character of Annalisse and her relationship with Alec, a wealthy Greek tycoon.

Annalisse is on her way to spend the weekend at her aunt Kate's farm where she grew up. She goes there to unwind from her stressful life in New York. She wants to consult with her aunt about her relationship with Alec. She does not know where she fits into Alec's life.

When she arrives, she finds out that there is a corpse in a barn on the property. After finding the corpse, her aunt vanishes. With the help of Alec and his investigator, they want to find Kate and figure out who kidnapped her. Upon searching for clues, Annalisse stumbles across a few things that she never knew existed. While at the farm she learns that the farm is for sale with her permission. She is one of the inheritors and nothing can happen without her permission.

I love the relationship between Annalisse and Alec. I hope to read more about the two of them. I also want to see more of Ethan, the man from New Zealand, who works on the farm. There were a few more characters introduced that I really liked, such as the hunky long-haired investigator. The storyline has the reader wondering what happened to Aunt Kate and what secrets is she hiding?

I would recommend you read Stolen Obsession, the first book in the series. It makes it easier to understand who these characters are. You won't be disappointed. I enjoyed this book as I did with Stolen Obsession. Well written and the love story is an underlying part of the story and an exciting one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading Calico Raven, the third book in the series!

Strong characters and an engaging mystery made this a great read. The romance doesn't overshadow the story. Although I wasn't sure how I felt about the couple until the end. This one kept my attention and I think there are plenty of twists. While things are mainly resolved, it leaves enough open to make way for another book. The only thing I couldn't quite get was the aunt's disappearing. It felt like filler. I will definitely read the next book in the series.

I did read this out of order, not realising it was the 2nd in the series. However I still really enjoyed reading it! I think that I would have enjoyed it more reading it in order, that being said it was still a fun romance that had lots of twists and turns! It was fast-paced and kept you on the edge of your seat!

The second in the series, but the first one I've read. Quite a few mentions, so it would help to read the first one, but overall I was not lost. Annalisse goes to visit her Aunt's farm, and they find a corpse in the barn. Taking her Aunt back to her boyfriend Alec's horse farm, things escalate. A good mystery, although the Aunt disappearing was more of a distraction than anything. Would recommend this book and author. Kept my interest throughout.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this eARC
A great story about love and betrayal. Annalisse loved her aunt Kate and the farm she lived on and would go there when she needed time out. After being let down again by her boyfriend Alec she decides that her and and the farm are the place she needed to go to make some life changing decisions. However when a dead body turns up in the barn Annalisse’s getaway is anything but relaxing. The story had a lot of elements to it and although lots was going on it was not too much to be overwhelming or confusing. Kate and Alec’s storyline moved alongside the main story but was not so prominent as to overshadow the main one which was great. Overall I really enjoyed this story.

Spent Identity by Marlene M. Bell

Story of Annalise.

Kate and Annalise’s boyfriend. Annalise and her tycoon boyfriend are at a crossroad in their relationship and Annalise goes home to visit her aunt Kate at her farm. Whilst there a body is found in her barn in dubious circumstances. The Farm is made out of bounds by the police so they go to Alex’s farm. Whilst there Kate goes missing and Annalise starts getting strange threatening messages.

Very slow to start then you get gripped. When it reaches a conclusion though you do get a resolution there are still a lot of loose ends .

This was an interesting story filled with misdirection. The main character was strong and well developed. I liked Annalisse, was prepared to dislike Alec and ended up a fan, What kept this from 5 stars for me was the multiple disappearances of Aunt Kate, who then popped up out of nowhere as if her niece was not frantic wondering where she was. Overall an entertaining mystery with lots of twists.

"Spent identity" is the second book of a series. I wished I read the first book, still it is not a necessity, there are many flashbacks, but I would recommend it. It was the first time in years that I got hooked by a thriller. I used to read so many books of that genre that I got bored, and could anticipate the story before reading. In Spent Identity, my guessing didn't work, and I got hooked by the plot. One of the reasons is that the characters are not perfect. I mean, they are perfect for the story, but they are not perfect. I won't say more not to spoil anything, but the humanity of the central characters transforms the fiction into something truly attractive. I can't wait for the third book !
I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. all opinions are mine.
