We had a lovely event with Cara, who proves proficient in making a book about religion and faith without being preachy.

A gentle, slow burner of a book describing four people - James, Nan, Lily and Charles - and their lives before and after meeting one another. While the question of Faith is often brought up, all four main characters experience various shades of faith, including one character who doesn't believe at all. Set in the 1950s and 1960s, the author puts the same effort into descriptions of people, place and time and this makes the novel feel very balanced and easy to read. Normal things happen to the characters - there isn't suddenly a huge catastrophe that affects the whole world - and the author does a great job of showing how each character reacts. This is a lovely study of character development over several years. Strongly recommended.
