This is the first instalment in this series
This is a heart thumping police procedural
It’s pacy, well written and extremely tense

Good thriller that keeps you turning the pages. I did find the twist a little unbelievable, I believe this is going to be part of a series and I enjoyed this one enough to seek out the others.

Great thriller! It’s the start of a series following Jericho and his team of investigators. Leah Wrights husband is murdered and the big reveal was pretty shocking to me. I did not see it coming!

Lyons’ The Next Widow features Police Detective Jericho and ER Doctor Leah Wright, appropriate because the author herself is an ER doctor. It opens with a fantastic opening scene as Leah comes home to find her entire world torn apart in a maelstrom of blood and despair. You can feel her anguish and shock as she deals with the ensuing situation. It’s then a mystery as to who ripped her world to shreds and whether it’s over or there’s more to come. Dr. Wright has a backstory of estrangement and abandonment from her hippie mother. Detective Jericho has his own demons in the form of his drug addict sister.

After the high-octane pace of the opening scene, the pace slows down quite a bit and the investigation leads in different directions and suspicions fall upon everyone, even Leah. Also, there seems to be no where safe for her.

The resolution of this situation isn’t necessarily resolved as cleanly as the exciting opening scene. In fact. The whole plot is unnecessarily complicated, but certainly foreshadowed in so many different ways.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book started out so brilliantly. For most of the book its really gripping and the character are really interesting. But the so called twist was just ridiculous. And while more books with Jericho in them with the occasional return of Wright would be ok. Wright is just too bland of a character and I really cant see how she could add to any further cases.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I ended up loving it. There were lots of twists and turns, the characters were well written and the story was captivating. The ending was unexepcted and very satisfying. Thank you for my ARC.

Six year old Emily saw her father murdered but she's so traumatized that she can't help her mother, Dr. Leah Wright or Sergeant Luka Jericho solve the case immediately. Ian was a cyber expert and while it doesn't appear his work was behind the murder, not much is clear. Leah and Luka alternately narrate this well done and suspenseful procedural. There are some good twists here. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fast entertaining read.

This was a great book, the first in a new series I believe and I’m looking forward to the next already.
Dr Leah Wright is an ER doctor, she arrives home on Valentines night to find her husband murdered and her daughter Emily hiding under the bed.
Detective Luka Jericho heads the investigation to find the killer, but all leads seem to point to the widow, could Leah have murdered her husband and covered it up?
I won’t go further into the story so as not to spoil it, but it’s full of twists and turns with a unexpected ending.
Running alongside the main story, we learn about Leah’s mother Ruby and her abandonment of her daughter, as well as Jericho’s sister and elderly grandfather.
A great set up for the next book.

The Next Widow is the first of the Jericho & Wright series by Author C.J. Lyons. I was really excited to start this series as the storyline and the main characters are very different than any other book I have read. Leah Wright is an ER Doctor and Luka Jericjo who is a Detective. These two form an unlikely partnership but not before Leah comes under scrutiny for her husbands gruesome murder.
This book kept me on my toes with the whodunnit! I love it when that happens.

I highly recommend this series to any lovers of the thriller genre.

Thank you to the author, Publisher & Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

CJ Lyons is one of my favourite authors, so I was looking forward to reading this one and I wasn't disappointed. Dark, gripping, a page-turner in all respects. I can't wait for the next one.

Dr Leah Wright returns home from her shift at the ER to find her husband brutally murdered and her 6 year old daughter Emily hiding under the bed in fear. The plot was very gripping and had me hooked the whole way through and the ending just blew me away i just did not see that coming !!!!!

The blurb reads;....... 'In the distance Leah heard sirens. She ignored them. Right now, her daughter needed her and Emily was just out of reach, curled up under the bed, her eyes closed, desperately shaking. Leah did the only thing any mother would do. She crawled through the blood to get to her daughter.

Dr Leah Wright returned to her childhood home in rural Pennsylvania with her husband to find peace and quiet, start afresh and raise her six-year-old daughter Emily. But when she gets home one dark winter night, clutching roses in her hand, she finds her daughter huddled under her bed and her husband’s blood all over the floor...'

Just from that I knew this was going to be an intense book! Leah and her family have moved back to her childhood home for a new start. things seem to be going well until Leah returns home to a massacre Now her only role is to keep her daughter Emily safe.
The characters are likeable and well developed and the writing style is superb, The book races along to an exciting and startling conclusion with twists galore along the way. Thoroughly enjoyable reading and I can't wait to read book 2 in the series Thank you so much Netgalley, Bookouture and the author C J Lyons for giving me the opportunity to read a copy of The Next Widow.

I thoroughly recommend this book but before you start reading be warned nothing else will get done until you finish!!

This is the first book in the series featuring DS Luka Jericho and Dr Leah Wright. Leah is an ER doctor. She has been working a tough shift at the hospital and is looking forward to returning home to her husband and daughter. It’s Valentines Day and as she is leaving the hospital she finds that a bunch of flowers have been left for her at Reception and thinks they are from her husband. On arriving home she finds blood all over the house and her husband brutally murdered. At first she can’t find her daughter but then discovers her hiding under the bed, deeply traumatised by what she has witnessed. Luka is called out to investigate and Leah is initially the main suspect. Can she prove her innocence and keep her daughter safe? We find out that both Luka and Leah have personal demons to battle with and look forward to seeing how this continues in the next book, I enjoyed the gripping storyline and the main two characters and can’t wait to read the second book in the series. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is one thriller that will make your heart race. There is a horrific murder , Leah, a doctor returns home from work to find her husband has been tortured to death - to save their daughter.

You will feel Leah's pain, anguish, and desperation. As with all murder stories, the cop will have a life and a background and you will learn of this too.
