The Snowy Reindeer (Royal Rescues #3). By Paula Harrison, Illustrator: Olivia Chin Mueller. 2020. Feiwel Friends (ARC eBook).

Princess Bea is excited that her family has traveled to her great aunt’s home, Peruva Castle. It’s winter and they all will be celebrating the first birthday of her baby cousin. But while enjoying snowman making and sledding, Bea sees orange fluff. Looking closer she finds an ornery cat teasing a lost baby reindeer. Bea wants to ensure the little reindeer gets warmed, fed and kept safe, but knowing her family will be exasperated with her bringing another animal indoors, this time in her aunt’s castle; Bea tries to keep the reindeer “Marshmallow” under wraps. Turns out, Marshmallow doesn’t mind wraps, birthday gift wrap that is ;)

A very sweet adventure story from Paula Harrison, with equally sweet illustrations by Olivia Chinn Mueller. A nice message for kids about the responsibilities of taking care of an animal, but also in Marshmallow’s case, that a wild baby reindeer’s best home will be back with his herd.

An early chapter book in a series of animal rescues. I especially liked the illustrations representing a multicultural family. I think children will really enjoy this book, and look for others in the series.
