Julie Ann Walker delivers another action-packed, romantic suspense novel in her Deep Six series. Before picking up this book I went back and re-read the others in the series, since it’s been a little while since we were treasure hunting on Wayfarer Island with the former Navy Seals crew of Deep Six. While I’d imagine it could be read as a stand-alone, Mason McCarthy and Alex Merriweather and the full cast of characters are introduced in the other books in the series. They’re just good reads, so why not check them out?

There’s a lot of chemistry between Alex and Mason, as well as some angsty moments. She never stops talking and he grunts out short answers, which makes for an entertaining contrast. I’m glad we get alternating points of view so we can see what they’re both thinking. Mason has been marked by an ugly divorce and the things he’s seen and done in the Navy. In comparison, Alex has always been on an academic track and is much more innocent (including still having her virginity, that she desperately wants Mason to take). Then there’s the bad guys from Mason’s past chasing after him, with Alex getting caught in the crosshairs, and, well, you’ll have to read to find out what happens.

This is a great addition to the Deep Six series and I definitely recommend this book and this author!

I enjoyed reading this book and was hooked from the very beginning. There was enough romance and suspense. I really liked the characters and the story line. I think Julie Ann Walker did a good job with Ride the Tide.

To me this book was just ok. Even though this book is part of a series you don't have to read before this one. Although I wished I had.
I'm not sure but I think this is my first book I have read by Walker. If I had read previous books by her then I would have had an understanding of her writing style. That being said, in this book I was a little thrown by the multiple pov's. I was expecting and prefer only dual pov's when it comes to romances.
Because of this it could have been a slightly shorter book. Why have pov's of another future couple in this story when they will more than likely get their own book? I hate when an author does this. They should warn their readers to read all the books in the series, otherwise you miss important scenes.
Now as for our main characters Mason and Alex I really enjoyed Alex except when she forgave Mason to easily.
She should have made him grovel some at least.
By the end of the book I could not stand Mason, he was full of excuses and denials. I could not see what Alex saw in Mason. How could you love someone who was constantly pushing you away and also hurting you emotionally?
And the moment he said something nice or cleared up a slight misunderstanding she automatically forgave Mason. I was also expecting more action in this book but sadly I was let down majorly.

This book was great! I am really loving this new series by Julie Ann Walker! Her books are amazing. I was anxious at first to read because her last series is my favorite, but I'm glad she was able to get me to love these characters,

The Deep Six series has been has an all new love story in this addition with the story of Mason and Alex finally crossing the line into romance from just friends. Julie Ann Walker is a great author that has been captivating reader for years with the Black Knights series and her newest series of SEALs turned salvage divers she has an all new bunch of hotties. I can honestly say that while I have been enjoying the installments of the Deep Six series, they are not as wonderful as the Black Knights series. Mason has been trying to resist the draw of Alex’s beauty and sensuality since the first moment she came into his life, but the pull is becoming almost irresistible. Alex has been trying to convince Mason that he is the only man she needs in her bed, but he is fighting her every second and at every turn. When dangers begins stalking the Deep Six guys once again, putting Alex’s life in danger right alongside them, Mason begins to understand that time is precious and he could lose Alex without ever having a chance to know her touch even once. But will giving in to his baser desires heal his pain enough to open his heart and mind and give them a chance at a future? I find I enjoyed the overall storyline with the plot of the killers and the search for the treasure, but that being said I had some bigger issues with the romance and the H/h in this one. Mason had his head up his butt about his relationship and emotions for Alex for entirely too long, so even though he was a strong, brave, and sexy guy, he was an asshat for most of the story. Alex was a tiny bit annoying with the way she kept throwing herself at Mason, pretending she wanted him only for sex and never looking deeper for an emotional connection until it was almost too late for either of them. They both seemed like they needed a lot of growing up before they would be able to sustain a truly loving relationship. But after a life-or-death situation (again) puts a few things into the light, both of them finally come to the conclusion that they do need to grow up. The romance angle was just so fast, going from basically friends with benefits to HEA almost in a split second because they were both denying even to themselves the emotion they felt so long. I will continue to give the series a chance because of my love of Ms. Walker’s writing, but I have high hopes for the next book considering I think I already know who the H/h will be and the connection between those two will be off the charts.

He’s a retired Navy SEAL that has been hurt in marriage and carries the wounds from war and marriage to keep him away from any relationship that could complete him. Mason “Monet” McCarthy fights the attraction and desires he has for the cute little brainiac that works with Deep Six Salvage translating and helping them find the wreckage of the Santa Cristina on a small island near Key West, FL. He’s loyal to his brothers in the Salvage business and a man that loves his English Bulldog, Meat and takes care of him as if he is his child.

She’s smart, beautiful, full of life, and talks non-stop. She has no filter and whatever she is thinking comes out of her mouth. She has great parents, but they’ve always treated her as though she has always been an adult and have been more focused their academic careers. Alexandra “Alex” Merriweather is attracted to Mason and has even offered her body to him, but he has not taken her up on her offer. She wishes that her heart wanted someone else, someone that returned the attraction she has for Mason, but it seems that she is out of luck. It also seems that her luck otherwise in her life is not so great either. She finds herself in life and death situations more than she should, but Mason seems to be there to protect her and save her each time.

I really enjoyed this story and the comradery between the men of Deep Six Salvage is fun to read. They are rude, crude, and loyal to each other to a fault. Their loyalty and brotherly love followed them into civilian life, but they all carry scars. If you like a story of adventure, action, loyal, and dangerous characters, with women that are strong, resilient, and sassy, you will enjoy Ride The Tide. I give this story a 5-star review and want a book for Wolf and Chrissy. I hope all of these characters get a story because they are fun and entertaining to read.

No plot spoilers No potential triggers I have waited so long for this book and it totally didn't disappoint. Julie Ann Walker absolutely nails the characterisation and storyline, I fell for the Deep Six team after reading the first book in the series and this is just simply the best so far. I can say that with truth because I re-read the series before reading this book. I was moved to tears at some points, I was dreadfully angry at others but the biggest emotion I will take away from this book is humour. I cried laughing at lots of the sarcastic quips, the playful dialogue and couldn't breathe for laughing at Wolf's rendition of 'we built this city on....' That is something that will forever colour my listening to that song. There is a huge amount of swearing, there are some sex scenes. There are no grammatical or editorial errors that I can recall. At over 400 pages it's an absolute bargain and I just hope I don't have to wait as long for the next book in the series, I can't recommend the series highly enough, and if you are a fan of smart mouths, tall dark and dangerous men combined with strong women and excellent storytelling I urge you to buy not only the Deep Six series, but everything else the author has written.

Of all the books in this series, I enjoyed this one the most. I still think that Julie's other series is better but this book was okay.

It has been a while since I read one of this author's books and I requested and was granted a copy NetGalley. The first couple of books in this series were good and I looked forward to the search for the Santa Christina in this book as well. I could not get past Alex and her obsession and it spoiled the story for me. Walker's stories are usually filled with suspense, romance and twists and turns and they were here as well, but lost in the storyline of Alex's obsession and her pursuit of Mason. I am sorry Ms Walker, but this one didn't cut it for me.

In Julie Ann Walker's Ride the Tide, the third installment in the Deep Six Salvage Navy SEAL romantic suspense series, this story is so red-hot, it sizzles. Mason McCarthy is a former Navy SEAL officer who's looking to settle down with the right woman and to search for a buried lost treasure in the sea. Ever since his ex-wife Sara had burned him, he wasn't looking for romance and closed his heart to find love possible again with someone else. For Alexandra Merriweather, she loves to read and devour knowledge and information from books. But she had one thing on her mind in her young age: to lose her virginity. And she had eyes on Mason for the longest time. While they look for a lost buried treasure, they had some bumps and obstacles along the way including a lurking threat across the ocean that might threaten their happiness. While Alex was looking for love with Mason, he wasn't interested in a forever romance. But when he had to leave to take care of business, he had her in the mind and knew what he wanted in the end: her. On a side note, it was also about Alex's friend Chrissy and her blooming romance with Ray "Wolf" Roanhorse too.

I love how Julie Ann Walker writes her characters! She really has a way of bringing them to life and making you fall in love with the story. The chemistry between Alex and Mason is so strong and the banter between the two makes for such an entertaining storyline. All of the supporting characters also add so much to the tension, drama, and wittiness. This book incorporates a love story plus a former Navy Seal plus a treasure hunt and weaves them together to create a story that is hard to put down. It is definitely better to read the first two in the series first, as this book hints at things that have happened. I can't wait to see how the story continues!

This is Mason and Alex's story. Ms. Walker is one of my favorite authors and I usually devour her books in hours, however, I did find myself putting this book down and coming back to it. I am not sure if it was the lead-up and the backstory on these two but I just couldn't get into it like I usually do. Mason is hung up on his past and how things didn't work out with his ex, that he is pushing away what could be a wonderful thing until he cannot fight it anymore. I am not a lover of angst relationships and the fact that while I adored Alexandra, even I got tired of her dialogue in her head and out of her mouth. There was just too much of nothing that in the end turned up being something. Not too many mentions of the gold and the suspense dealt with someone from Mason's past. All in all, not a bad read. 3.5 stars...

If Julie Ann Walker wrote it, I will read it, and love it!
This third book in the Deep Six series is no exception. I loved Alex's fierce spirit and her chatty nature. Her persistent pursuit of Mason was so satisfying because he was befuddled and confused. The rest of the crew's protective nature of Alex, while still honoring their friendship with Mason felt real in terms of that brothers-in-arms bonding that runs deep, but also means friends call friends on their shit. If you're a fan of sexy alpha heroes and fierce strong heroines, you'll love this book!

What happens when one sexy little red headed historian, an ex navy seal aka salvager and a bunch of bad guys get together, well a lot of action and fireworks. Add a slobbering bulldog that loves his “balls” and you have a read you can’t put down!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Mason used to be a Navy SEAL until he was injured and had to retire. Now he and his former teammates comprise Deep Six Salvage and they're currently looking for sunken treasure. Alex is part of the team due to her skills at reading old Spanish scripts but her current main objective seems to be losing her virginity. Mason reluctantly agrees to help her out. I didn't care for this book as much as I have others in this series.

This is book three in the Ride the Tide series about six ex-Navy SEALS looking for sunken treasure.

Alex is having a very hard time staying away from Mason, after he rejected her offer of relieving her of her virginity. Mason is doing his very best to ignore the attraction between them. And in between the will-they-won’t-they tug-of-war going on between these two, there was some explosions and some more searching for the treasure.

I enjoyed this book because of the fast pace and the action. The action is very well written, as always. And I loved the prologue.

On the negative side, the big elephant in the room that Alex just wouldn’t stop talking about and the non-relationship between her and Mason got old after a while. The plot surrounding Mason and his actions during a deployment to Iraq also felt a bit contrived. Obviously, we need some impetus for all the action going on, but this reason was a bit thin.

I definitely want to know what happens to the rest of the crew, and the treasure hunt.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve been reading Walker for more years than I can remember. This is the first time that I found myself wishing she had done something different. The “I need to get rid of my virginity” trope is so old and at one time it seemed like so many books featured it. Then it seemed to disappear and good riddance.

Despite the fact I hated that part of the story, to Walker’s credit, she created an enjoyable book. But then, they always are!

This is the third book in this series – and I am loving them all! We have joined a band of people who are searching for the wreck of a ship which was laden with gold which was to go back to Spain. I love the premise of the group working out on an island, blending their skills of navigation, research, archeology, etc. If you have not read any of the books yet, then I would absolutely suggest that you start from the beginning, as you will get to understand the dynamics better, and I think enjoy this story even more.

Mason has a strong belief that he is not worthy of love – in no small part because he survived war, and his (married and about to be a dad) best friend didn't. He doesn't stink on hookups, so has a reputation as a player. So Alexandra thought it was quite reasonable to ask him to be her first. But instead, he turns her down and really damages her self-esteem. But they continue to work together and repair their friendship as best they can.

This intense attraction and interest in getting it together simmers along through a large part of the book, as we face a complex and well-funded attack on the team. Working out why, and what will happen next gives a very suspenseful feel to the book, and it is cleverly plotted and gives Mason a jolt into remembering what is really important.

Another really good installment to the series, I am looking forward to the next one already!

Mason and Alex are opposites. He is the big, brawny, silent type and she is petite, intelligent, and an open book who always has plenty to say. I thought Alex was pretty brave, she makes Mason an offer most men would not refuse but Mason does. Well, for as long as he can resist her anyway. It was great watching her wear him down, with a little bit of pushing from his mates too.

The men of the Deep Six Salvage make a great cast and there are plenty of witty conversations and a few laughs. We also get to see the beginnings of something between Wolf and Chrissy, who will no doubt be the stars of the next novel. And thanks to Wolf, I’ll never hear Escape (the Piña Colada song) the same way again.

I loved the combination of action and romance in Ride the Tide. At one point I got so caught up in the sexy fun between Mason and Alex, that when the story switched to action and danger appeared, I was surprised. Then when things got serious and lives were in danger, I got swept away in another direction.

If, like me, you’ve read Julie Ann Walker’s books before you’ll be familiar with her formula, but for me it never gets old. Reading Ride the Tide is like watching a great action movie only with better sex scenes and a little more romance. This gets a solid four stars from me.
