This book was just what I needed. A complete and utter distraction from our world today. This book was a great return to the series that I love so much. I could not put it down. Seriously, I slept 2 hours then , opened it up again.

This is the story of Alex and Mason as they continue to search for treasure off of key west and we get to see Into the mind of Mason and Alex as they push and pull to be together. This romance develops while they are under attack, recovering and they finally get their hea. I cannot wait for My guess Chrissy and Wolf in the next in series... keep it up Julie!

Ride the Tide is the third book in the Deep Six SEALS series. I did not read the first two books and I don't feel like I was losing out on to much by not having read them, the author does a pretty good job of providing the backstories. The action was good but the romance was a bit awkward, with how much Alex just needs to get rid of her virginity and Mason the gruff and grumbly one of the Seals is her pick. However, he just keeps turning her down and away, again awkward... Also, for a book that starts off with it being a treasure hunt I thought there would be, you know, more treasure hunting? Alas no, but there is a past enemy trying to kill them so there is that excitement. I did enjoy the dual POV as I think it add so much more to a story to get both perspectives. 3.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. All spelling and grammar errors are totally my own.

I don't know what happened because I like this author but I just couldn't get into this story. The virgin, his accent repeated over and over drove me nuts.

I couldn't finish so therefore there are no reviews anywhere.

This is book 3 in the Deep Six series and it features Mason and Alex. She’s 27 years old and her main goal at this point in her life is to lose her V card. She wants to give it to Mason. He wants her so bad but thinks he can’t be what she wants or needs.

This story is full of sexy, alpha, retired Navy SEALs, fantastic action, fun banter amongst the group and some intense introspection. The story line was awesome and the characters were people I’d love to have as friends. I can’t wait for more from this amazing author.

At long last, a return to the world of Deep Six Salvage and their search for the Santa Cristina wreck. The Deep Six team comprises six former SEALs who left the Teams after a teammate died. These men share an unbreakable bond, forged in war and just as strong in peace. Not that they get much peace, as trouble finds them regularly. This book focuses on Mason, the quietest of the men, and newcomer to the group, historian Alex.

I liked Alex and Mason. Alex is a historian hired by Deep Six to research and interpret Spanish records about the Santa Cristina. She is smart and sassy and fits well with the crew, most of whom treat her like a little sister. I loved her interactions with them, from the teasing to the support (both for and from) to constant chatter that amuses them. I liked that she isn't afraid to take chances and go after what she wants.

Mason is a man haunted by the things he has seen and done. I ached for him as his history was revealed. His ex-wife did a number on his self-worth, blaming the break-up of their marriage on him being "not normal." He believes that he is too broken for a relationship with any woman and keeps interactions superficial. Mason is quiet and gruff, where a grunt is as good as a sentence. He is protective of those he cares for.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Mason and Alex. The sparks were there from the moment they met. Alex embraced the attraction, while Mason did his best to avoid it. Alex wants something particular from him and is relentless in her pursuit of it. It was fun at times to see the lengths Mason employed to avoid her, but I also wanted to shake him for believing the worst about himself. I liked Alex's attempts to get past Mason's walls and ached for her when he continually pushed her away. The conversations between them were alternately fun and heartbreaking, from light-hearted teasing to deeply emotional confessions. It took some blunt talk from one of Mason's friends for him to realize that he wasn't alone. I also loved Alex's commentary on his ex-wife's claims and seeing its effect on Mason. I loved the ending and Alex's "sparkles and sparkles of hope."

It wouldn't be a Deep Six book without trouble of some kind rearing its head. In this case, two people from Mason's past are bent on revenge and have teamed up to make it happen. I enjoyed seeing it from the different perspectives of the bad guys, Deep Six team members, and the ladies. Each one brought something different to the experience and made the whole thing that much more vivid. The confrontation on the island was a nail-biter with an unexpected twist at the end. The resolution of that twist was slightly anti-climactic but satisfying anyway.

There was a secondary relationship developing during the book. Wolf and dive-shop owner Chrissy have something from their past that creates tension between them. The attraction between them is obvious, but so is the antagonism. There is some lessening of the animosity by the end, but clearly, there is more to their story. I hope the author plans to tell it. I'd also like to see stories for Doc and Romeo.

Adventure, treasure hunters, Ex-Seals, side of romance

Ride The Tide is the latest installment in The Deep Six series by Julie Ann Walker. Mason McCarthy is a former Navy Seal working with other ex-military guys looking for lost treasure in the Florida Keys. Alexandria Merriweather is a specialist brought in to help solve the mystery of the treasure’s final resting place. There’s sparks and a lot of chemistry, but brainiac virgin Alex can’t get Mason to dip his toes in her waters. Mason suffers from PTSD and also the humiliation of his ex-wife’s infidelity while he was deployed. He has sworn off attachments.

As in other military / adventure stories written by Ms. Walker, there is a connection to foreign militants seeking revenge for perceived wrongs committed by Mason. The cast of characters work together to survive the attacks, locate the treasure, and help each other deal with real life traumas. What I really dig about Ms. Walker’s stories is her ability to build characters that we come to love using such spicy and often humorous dialogue to make us wish we knew and lived next door to them. While I admit the treasure hunt is more of a limited side story resulting in only a little tease of treasure and possibly another lead, the story’s draw is compelling. I recommend that you read the first two stories before this one to enjoy the context of the characters. Also check out her Black Knights Inc series – it is my favorite!

I received an advanced reader copy from the author and purchased my own copy. Opinions are my own.

"Ride The Tide" is Mason and Alex's story. Part of the six retired seals, Mason and the rest of the team are searching for a sunken Spanish galleon when they hire historian Alexandra to assist with interpreting the language from the ship. A chemistry begins between Mason and Alex as they become the main focus of this story. Add in the drama and vengeance as the team fights off a group of terrorists, Alex wanting to get rid of her v-card with Mason as he keeps turning her down, only to discover Mason's past may be the trigger behind all things happening. Their story has so many emotions that it will have you both smiling and frowning at times, as they work through it all to find they really are made for each other. **I was gifted "Ride The Tide" via NetGalley and leave my review based on my reading.** 4.25 Stars!

It was nice to get back into this world. Julie Ann Walker does a great job inserting enough humor into her books that the serious action doesn't get too heavy. I liked seeing Mason and Alex get together, but I really wish Alex would have moved on from him since he pushed her away so much.

I enjoyed this long-awaited installment in the Deep Six series. Four years is a long time to remember everyone and back stories, so I wish I had re-read them first. Not that you need to, the story is easy enough to follow and figure out, but it would have been easier to slip back into their world.

I loved Alex and her quirky, nerdy ways. Especially when she rambles while trying not to. I was able to identify with her on most things. The whole virgin thing and throwing herself repeatedly at Mason got a little old and came across as desperate. I began to feel sorry for Mason. Thankfully they figured out their problems….finally, providing a lovely HEA.

As with all Ms. Walker’s books, it’s the group dynamics and camaraderie that keep me reading. She has a way of making us believe these are real people who have history, friendship, and common goals. Add in danger and treasure hunting, and you have an exciting romance. I do wish more time was spent on the treasure hunt, but the threat confronting them was riveting enough to keep my mind off the ship. Danger, battles, sex, romance, humor and tenderness abound. I sure hope we don’t have to wait so long for the next book!

The hunt for the old iron ship continues in the newest installment in the Deep Six series. This book is about Mason and Alexandra. Mason is one of the members of the Deep Six crew and Alexandra has been brought in to help translate old Spanish scripts. Enter an old enemy of Mason’s and there’s adventure afoot!

Comingled with the suspense and danger portion of this story is the push and pull of Mason and Alexandra’s relationship. Mason tries to resist Alexandra because she is ... let’s say inexperienced ... and he feels as if he is broken with nothing to offer Alexandra long term. This book also drops a few more breadcrumbs about what happened between two characters who have yet to have their story (Wolf and Chrissy).

Not my favorite of the series, but still a great continuation of this story (reads fine as a standalone though). I look forward to reading the next one when it comes out.

I voluntarily reviewed and advanced reader copy of this book and these are my honest opinions.

Ride The Tide is the third title in the Deep Six series, featuring a group of former Navy Seals who are continuing their search for the Santa Cristina treasure. Whilst this title can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the previous titles in the series to understand the backstory of the characters.
Alex is a feisty, intelligent, and resilient if somewhat naive scholar and historian. She’s relentless in her pursuit of Mason’s affections.
Mason is a former Seal and a divorcee who is haunted by the demons of his past. Whilst brooding, protective and tough, he’s also a wounded and vulnerable hero.
The attraction and chemistry between Alex and Mason is undeniable, despite Mason doing his best to derail all of Alex’s plans.
I enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie between Mason and his former seal team.
If you enjoy an action packed, romantic suspense I recommend any of Julie Ann Walker’s titles.

When I got back into reading romance 3 or 4 years ago, Julie Ann Walker was one of my absolute favorite authors - and I started with this series. After reading the first two books, I devoured the entire Black Knights series, then moved on to other authors while I waited for the third installment of the Deep Six series. Hundreds upon hundreds of books later, that installment was finally released.

And I'm not sure if my reading preferences have changed that much in the years that I've waited to read this book, or if it just wasn't that great, but I really couldn't get into it. The desperation of the virgin plot, the constant push/pull - they both just turned me off completely and I've struggled to read this one. I wouldn't be able to write a favorable review, so I'm choosing to DNF and leave it unreviewed out of respect to an author whose work I've really enjoyed in the past. I wish this book had been released like three years ago, because I was loving the overarching storyline at that time and now I can barely remember the details.

Ride the Tide is the first book that I have read in the Deep Six series and I really enjoyed it! I'm a big fan of romantic suspense and the description caught my eye. There's intrigue, action and a push and pull romance between two members of the Deep Six Salvage team. Mason McCarthy has been trying to keep his distance from his coworker Alex Merriweather but it seems inevitable that if he gets involved with her he'll break her heart. Alex doesn't understand what the big deal is about having a casual relationship together since they're both working and living in Key West and the town is all about casual relationships. These two soon realize that there are bigger problems then dancing around each other when a group of strangers tries to kill them on their company's catamaran! Ride the Tide was a fun, easy, low angst romp in the ocean. The supporting characters provided loads of laughter and it made me wish that I had read the previous two books in the series to get everyone's backstory so that is what I will be doing next. It was written from dual POV and included plenty of salty language, mild angst, bits of heat and quite a few laughs. I recommend this one!

Terrific! Ms Walker does it again! Loved this romantic suspense. Mason and Alexandra’s story kept me on the edge of my seat. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This is a special surprise! After a long wait we are back with Julie Ann Walker’s team of ex SEALS in the Florida Keys, hunting treasures, having adventures and enjoying a selection of Alpha males who are willing to go the distance for what and who are important and dear to their heart.

Ride The Tide reads like an action movie, sprinkled with suspense, adventure, lively interactions within the brotherhood of The Deep Six and their love interests. This is stoic, always calm Mason McCarthy and brainy, always chatty historian Dr. Alexandra (Alex) Merriweather story. These two are polar opposites but nevertheless attracted to each other like magnets. Mason believes that he’s broken as a human being, loved only by his bulldog Meat but Alex doesn’t believe that. In the other hand, Alex feels that Mason is the one who can help her achieve a very important milestone, but he thinks that he just can’t, that his past will soon come knocking his door, putting in danger those who are within his circle.

The book is fast paced, completely capturing your imagination and keeping you turning page after page while trying to solve where is the sunken Santa Cristina ship, the mystery of who is after Mason and why and probably the most important: when our hero and heroine will recognize that they belong together. Dialogue is engaging, fun, sexy and more than once it will make you laugh at the antics of the team and pets who are on board. Although this is book number 3 of the series, it reads as a standalone. For those lucky enough to have read the previous books you will be rewarded with updates on their stories, while Ms. Walker continues to spread more breadcrumbs for what I definitely hope are more stories ( Wolf, wink, wink?).

I truly enjoyed Ride The Tide. It does touch some serious issues like PTSD, takes some liberties in the history of sunken treasures and completely took me away from lockdown fever to the sunny, warm waters off the Florida Keys; can’t imagine how this isn’t a win-win scenario. In my opinion, it is a five star read because of the pure escapism but I was able to see how all characters continue to gang onto each other and grow without stealing the spotlight from Mason and Alex and that isn’t easy feat. I’m ready for more!

I received an ARC via Netgalley, but these are my most sincere thoughts and opinions.

There is nothing better than a good read. Julie's books are normally full of suspense along with the main relationship and a set up of another one for the next book. Ride the Tide was lacking in the suspense. The main subject of the book was Mason and Alex. It became very tiresome with Alex talking about her feelings to Mason and Mason feeling like he wasn't good enough and telling her no. That was most of the book. Despite this, the book was well written. I can't wait to read about Chrissy and Wolf!

This is the first book of Julie Ann Walker's I've read although I've been collecting her stories for a while. The type of romantic suspense-ops stories appeal and I've trusted Sourcebooks publisher to have great authors under their label. I was not disappointed. This is a fabulous story, the 3rd in her Deep Six series about retired SEALs who operate a treasure hunting salvage operation. I love brotherhood stories and these types of alpha heroes.

Mason McCarthy, 35, is a former SEAL who was burned badly by his ex-wife. She labeled him not normal and he believed her, her words become his self talk in his brain. He can't see himself ever being in a romantic relationship ever again because he's paranoid and always on the lookout for enemies and danger. He and his team are looking for the Spanish treasure galleon The Santa Cristina that sank somewhere in the Keys. They've taken on Alexandra Merriweather, 27, a historian who is obsessed with old languages and history who is ideal for this quest. She is a petite, redheaded virgin brainiac who is fierce and focused. She challenges Mason continually. An enemy from their past has found them and is targeting them. This book has loads of action in this story. I enjoyed Mason, thanks to his SEAL brothers, realizing he is as normal as the rest of the guys who are finding love. That his skills are useful to helping their team as well as the woman he has come to care for alive.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ride the Tide is the third book in the Deep Six series by Julie Ann Walker. A thrilling, fast-paced read that pulls you in and holds your attention until the very end with drama, action, and heated passion. Once I started reading, I could not put this down; I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The characters are well-written and develop at a smooth, steady pace with an undeniable chemistry that is sure to heat up the pages.

DNF at 39%.

OMG, how can I have read nearly half a book and all I can remember is angst about some woman trying to lose her virginity to a special forces operative with more angst than a teenage girl.

There's a fine line to tread with spec-ops romances. The men have to be tough and sexy and maybe a bit mysterious, the women have to be 'special': clever, feisty, talented, or something else. There has to be danger, high octane action, tension and crackling chemistry between the hero and heroine. Maybe it's me, maybe its because I started reading this book four months ago but honestly I didn't get any of the above.

As a personal aside, as a 50-something year old woman, the idea that a woman worries about losing her virginity and makes a big deal of it seems (frankly) pathetic. You either care or you don't. I honestly don't think anyone else is the slightest bit bothered or would even notice.

Overall, if I'm 39% into a book and I have no clue as to the plot, the bad guys, and I don't have the feels for the hero and heroine then I'm going to pass.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
