What an exciting romantic adventure! I love Julie Ann Walker’s books and this one didn’t disappoint. You have former navy seal, Mason McCarthy looking for sunken treasure and super smart Alexandra Merriweather, an historian who’s along for the ride. The sparks fly between these two from the first moments and just keep getting hotter and hotter. So you have thrilling adventure, danger and a spicy romance. What’s not to love? I adored it! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4 Ride The Tide Stars🌟

Ride the Tide is the next book in the Deep Six series and is a long time coming❣️Suffice to say I had forgotten most of the characters but I did recollect how the last one ended and that was the arrival of Alex😁

This story is multilayered as it focuses on the relationships happening between Alex and Mason and a possible relationship between Wolf and Chrissy, but it also is filled with action that relates to the Crew from their military past. Not too focused on treasure hunting but we did get snippets of this and I expect more to be revealed in the next few books to come🤩

I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and I voluntarily give my honest review❤️

A former Navy Seal who feels too broken for love has met his match in the brilliant historian who joined the Deep Six Salvage crew. Mason came back from the war only to be convinced by his ex that he's not normal and deserved to be cheated on, so when he starts to develop feelings for Alex, the historian the rest of his team sees as a little sister, he's convinced that the last thing she needs is a broken man like him. Good thing that he's just what Alex wants and she's not willing to let him talk his way out punching her V-card and letting her love him.
There is unbelievable chemistry between Alex and Mason and the banter is almost as good as when they do finally get together. It's the stereotypical redemption through love plotline, but it's done so well.
There's a ton of action and a very emotional revenge story along the way that doesn't get the emotional acknowledgment I think it deserves, but the action scenes are phenomenal and the pacing is practically perfect.
Walker is a genius when it comes to making sure that each and every character that gets space on the page is fully developed and actually adds to the story. I loved the Deep Six crew and I can't wait to take my own deep dive into their stories.

Many happy thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the early read.

It has been a long time coming, this third book in the Deep Six series but here it is. Ride the Tide by Julie Ann Walker is former SEAL Mason "Monet" McCarthy’s story. Mason has seen enough war that being part of a treasure-seeking crew is exactly what he wants now. Of course, he also wants Alexis Merriweather but stays away from her. He has the broody alpha mystique down pat along with a case commitment phobia. I get that his past is a mess but really Alexis is a sunny side up personality that is irresistible. Boy, does he do a great job of resisting her. Silly man, that he is.

The treasure hunting takes a sideline when danger from the past comes calling. While it is Mason’s past, it is Alexis who is also in danger. The unrequited-love drama continues on until Mason finds it impossible to resist protecting her. Sometimes a good man needs a good knock on the head to see what is important.

This series has been on hiatus for a while so it is great to see it back on track. Each of these guys have issues but there is a woman somewhere for each one. Also I especially enjoyed the prologue and epilogue thinking Bartolome Vargas would have fit right in with the Deep Six guys. Perhaps some day he will get his own historical romantic suspense story too.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Navy SEAL’s job is never done, even retired the guys of Deep Six are on the job. The guys worked together as sailors and upon retirement decided to be treasure hunters. The treasure is yet to found but they’ve made a business for themselves and expanded their crew with Chrissy and Alex. Both women work hard and bring knowledge that’s important to the team. However the guys have a nasty past that haunts them, even bringing the fight to their own island. Mason is an easy guy to like, he’s tough on the outside with the potential of a teddy bear inside. Alex is determined to bring that out if only he’d accept her proposition. The relaxed familiar banter between the guys is comical and a bit intelligent. I’m really hoping they find that treasure, but I’m assuming if they do that the series will end so keep hunting. The book is mainly for Alex and Mason, a little of Chrissy and Wolf, but there is a continuing storyline if you want to start in the beginning the characters might be more likable. I received my copy from Netgalley, review given voluntarily.

I had high hopes for this crew of former SEALs-turned-deep-sea-treasure-hunters. Longtime Julie Ann Walker reader here, at least most of her Black Knights series. Her formula of zany action rom-coms with alpha military hunks, sassy heroines, do-or-die adventures, and lots of brotastic banter usually does it for me when I need a fun popcorn read. Her books usually defy logic, with kidnappings, assumed identities, drug cartels, international spies, but they are always fun. Unfortunately, this one just didn't work for me. Even with bullets flying in the sunny Florida keys, a whiny, nagging virgin chasing a reluctant emotionally stunted from his divorce dude while being egged on by his SEALs buds was just one fantastic step too far.

If I ever heard a guy talking with his buds about rejecting my virginity, he would be in no shape to ever take anyone's virginity. Yet, all of Mason's gossipy, interfering SEAL buds are pushing him to do the deed because Alex has made it clear this is her number one priority. To be fair, she is a 27-year-old virgin but still, have some pride.

Yet, even with bullets flying and baddies chasing, Alex basically pesters Mason non-stop to be her first. This was sometimes whiny, maybe a bit creepy, and a little sad, but it was never sexy or romantic. If anything, the story constantly focused on how dreamy Mason was with his Boston accent, with relentless reminders of how he talked. While I couldn't understand her fascination with taciturn Mason, the real issue was how young and petulant this supposedly 27-year-old academic was. Even her internal monologue felt young.

Nevertheless, the chase scenes were exciting, and Alex and Mason's weird virginity saga was nicely balanced by a parallel budding romance between Chrissy and Wolf. But I realized very early that I was far more invested in Chrissy and Wolf finally addressing what happened between them than whether Mason would ever take Alex's virginity. Here's hoping Chrissy and Wolf's story picks up with more steam and suspense than this.

Formula writing can be good, especially if you like the formula. But, there comes a time when it can turn bad, when you can predict what will happen and you get . . . bored. I'm there with this series. But I did read the three books in this series within a close time frame, so that may have had something to do with it. Hot sexy parts and great action parts. About 70% romance and 30% suspense.

Mason and Alex. The taciturn former SEAL and the geeky historian virgin who wants Mason to remedy that condition for her. Well, Mason has sworn off any female who even smells like she wants a relationship and a 27 year old virgin? That's a given as far as he's concerned. When enemies from Mason's past bent on vengeance stalk him, planning his death, Alex will need to put her campaign to lose her virginity on hold in order to help keep Mason safe. 3 1/2-Stars

Ride the Tide is the third book in Julie Anne Walkers Deep Six series, and whilst I found it a touch slow in places, it was a satisfying read. As the story moves slightly away from the hunt for the Santa Cristina and the treasure aboard. When Mason, Wolf, Chrissy and Alex are attacked whilst travelling back from Key West, and when it becomes clear the attackers aren't finished the team are quick to rally and neutralise the threat. And with moments of action, a pleasant if a little angsty romance and some humour thanks to Uncle John and the Deep Six Crew, I was engaged, and I'm certainly excited to read more from this series in the future.

Would recommend.

Welcome back to Wayfarer Island where the weather is sultry and the ex SEALs are hot, hot, hot. The 6 ex-SEALs are there to decompress and search for a sunken Spanish galleon named the Santa Cristina.. Into this group of men comes Alexandra Merriweather, who is a historian and understands the written language from when the ship went down. They treat her like a sister, all the while flirting like crazy. Only Mason McCarthy is the one she is pursuing. He is telling her no at every turn. The banter between them is hysterical. Yet danger comes to the island and these men go from relaxed to battle mode in a blink of an eye. Safety for non military people is first and foremost. When the one man escapes, Mason and Doc are on his trail. They get their man. In the end Alex gets her man too!
I do love that at the beginning and end of the book, the story of the Santa Cristina is being told by Bartolome Vargas, the captain..

I received this book from Netgalley for my honest review. My opinions are my own.

Book 3 in A Deep Six series. Better if you read the previous books. (I enjoyed the first 2 books)

As the team continues searching for a lost ship (buried treasure), things heat up between Mason and Alex. Follow the adventure as two complicated people find love. Action and adventure with a team of friends and dog.

Julie Ann Walker writes great multi-dimensional "retired" military characters.

This is an exciting continuation of the Deep Six series. Enjoyed their dynamic and the secondary characters. Looking forward to the next book.

I love Julie Ann Walker!
I look forward to her books all year. This was no different.
It got under my skin and I couldn’t stop reading. Seriously, 3am and I’m still reading.
The characters are terrific!
His ex-wife has done a real number on Mason. He’s holding onto all that pain and still giving his all to his brothers.
Alex is quick witted. I loved their banter! And a nerd!
I can’t wait for the next book!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.

I have been waiting on this story for a long time. I am a huge fan of Julie’s and am totally in love with the Deep Six guys (I also am in love with the Black Knights). There is action and suspense and alpha heroes who know how to give new terms to the sex act. Grumpy Mason is still as bullheaded as in the last book. I loved all of the sniping with Alex in that book and it carries over into this story. These guys are so fantastically written I found it hard to put down. I hope there will be more stories of Wolf, Doc and Romeo. I freaking loved this book. Okay, done gushing.

I always think Walker is a great author, and a great writer. This was an interesting story, but I found Historian Alexis Merriweather to be super whiny and not enjoyable at all. Despite the exciting story of finding the buried treasure from the Santa Christina, I was more focused on Alex's "adorkable" nature that read more like ignorant than naive. I'm excited for the next one, though, because I like the series arc.

With a four-year break in releases in the Deep Six series, I thought I would have trouble getting back into the world and characters but I worried for nothing. Ride the Tide focuses on the same group of retired Navy SEALS turned fortune hunters.

Although this time around there's not much hunting going on as the group is on "vacation" while the two couples from the previous books are out of town.

Ride the Tide focuses on Mason's past in the Navy and his personal life aka divorce.  After catching his wife cheating on him five years ago he decided he wasn't made for marriage and family life. He thinks he doesn't deserve it because he's not "normal" (his ex-wife's words).

Alex is the girl next door type who is also super smart. Everyone in the group loves her and she loves Mason. Because she was too busy studying and focusing on a career she never managed to lose her v-card. She offered it to Mason but he turned her down. He fits the urge to take back his decision as they are faced with a mysterious group who tried to shoot him, Wolf, Alex, and Chrissy while they were out on a boat.

Ride the Tide has all the key elements of a Julie Ann Walker novel, heart, humor, action, and sexy romance. I'm glad she has returned to the series after a four-year break. I look for to the installment which I hope will feature Wolf and Chrissy.

Ride the Tide is the third book in the wonderful Deep Six series a team of former Seals who have banded together to become treasure hunters Like all of the other books in the series this is a wonderful mixture of suspense ,drama and adventure and there is always sizzling hot romance This is Mason “Monet” McCarthy

Mason believes that he is a hot mess and that he should never allow any woman to get close to him as he is no good for them The only problem is that historian Alex Merriweather won't take the hint no matter how abrupt he is and leave him alone. No this bubbly red head who has no verbal filter just keeps at him all the time no matter how he tries to push her away. But when danger from mason's past as a seal threatens his team and Alex as she works with them he will have to put everything aside to try to protect them. Will Alex finally wear mason down and in fact help him with his psychological wounds You will have o read to see

This is the third in the Deep Six series that centers around a crew of ex Navy Seals who are looking for a lost Spanish treasure that was aboard the Sainta Christina. Mason McCarthy has been changed by his service and doesn’t think he can have the normal things in life, like love, a wife kids etc.. Of course, the teams historian, Alexandra Merriweather, has other ideas. There is a huge push-pull between Alex and Mason, then throw in a threat from Mason’s past and you have an engaging story. This really isn’t really a stand-alone, you really need to read the prior two books to enjoy this one. Since there was a four year wait since the last book, I hope the author is a little quicker with the next book in this series. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Alex and Mason's story was another action packed story. Mason's past catches up to him and he realizes that he will do whatever it takes to protect Alex. The story was fast paced just like the rest of the series. I did have a little trouble with Alex. I really felt like she was a little naive and the urgency to get rid of her Vcard and everyone knowing about it made me cringe for her. I felt like when it came to Mason she had blinders on. Mason is grumbly and was a little hard for me to love, but these two, once they finally let the walls fall, were great. Another good story in the series.

I originally loved the idea of a group of treasure hunters who are former SEALs when I first heard about this series. Unfortunately that whole theme is more of an afterthought in Ride the Tide. What we get is a very intelligent and educated woman who has managed to become a 27 year old virgin. Alex would love nothing more than finally rid herself of that burden as she sees it, and Mason is the man for the job in her mind. Unfortunately Mason believes he is damaged goods thanks to his ex-wife and although he is definitely attracted to Alex, he keeps rebuffing her. By the time he decides to remove his head from his anal cavity, the team is under a threat from an unknown source as gunfire starts to follow them.

There is definitely action and suspense in this story, but Mason made me want to smack some sense into him more than a few times... and Alex wasn't left out of that action either. I understood that Mason felt right for her, but for the love of all that is good and holy, there comes a time when setting your sights elsewhere is best for self preservation. The stage for Chrissy and Wolf's relationship is being set here and I like what I see so far. And there is a small update on the search for the Santa Cristina so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a bit more advancement in the next installment of the series.

“I was certainly drawn to her from the beginnin’. Too bad I had to go and screw it all up.”

What You’ll Find:
✔️Romance Suspense
✔️Tortured Hero
✔️Action Packed
✔️Slow Burn
✔️Multiple POV

Former Navy Seal Mason is done with fighting and is concentrating on finding the buried treasure from the Santa Christina. That concentration is broken when Alexandra joins the hunt. When danger from Masons past threatens the Deep Six, he relies on old training to ensure nothing happens to Alex. But with danger comes some serious sparks.

I enjoyed this one. It had a bit of a slow start for me, but once the action started, I was ALL IN! Alex is sweet and quirky, brilliant and chatty. And she knows what she wants. Mason is broody and still dealing with traumas of his past. Putting Alex at a distance. But there is no denying the chemistry they have. Though that chemistry seems to burn in a hot and cold slow burn, they certainly create some steam in the end.

This book is told from multiple points of view which actually worked for me quick well. You got a glimpse of not only the main MC’s but a slew of other side characters. Including the other men of the Deep Six who are such a fun group! Perhaps seeming a bit younger than their stated ages at times, but that was explained a bit too in the book, in a way that made sense. Wolf and Chrissy, are two others you see alot of in this one and I loved them. I hope they’re next! I wanted a little more treasure hunting, but I suspect you’ll see plenty over the course of this series. An enjoyable read full of action, steam, suspense and even humour too.

This is book three in the Deep Six Series but can be read as a standalone. Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for this advance copy for my honest review.
