This is the third book in the Deep Six series. It can be read as a stand alone but events that happened in the second book are referenced frequently so it might be better to read the first two in the series before reading this one.
The Deep Six series is about a group of former Navy SEALs that have formed a salvage company and are looking for a sunken treasure. Ride the Tide is Mason and Alex's story.
I thought this book was an okay addition to the series. There seemed to be definite physical chemistry between Mason and Alex but I didn't get a sense of them really connecting as a couple. Alex is a twenty seven year old virgin who really wants Mason to be her first time and Mason having been badly scarred by his divorce keeps refusing, despite being attracted to Alex. It just seemed that Mason spent a lot of time denying his attraction and being generally clueless and condescending. Someone from Mason's past is also out for revenge so there is some suspense as well.
I found it annoying how many times the author had to describe how Mason spoke. I think saying he was from the Boston area and describing how he pronounced things once would have been enough for readers to get the sense of his accent.
This book did make me to read Wolf and Doc's stories so hopefully there are more books in the series.

An enjoyable read, with lots of action, featuring a tortured hero and a very special heroine, “Ride the Tide”, by Julie Ann Walker (Sourcebooks Casablanca), has some very funny and sweet moments between Mason and Alexis related to her issue and their simmering attraction.
It was fun to watch the tortured alpha trying to fight the attraction. I liked the big and grumpy hero and his candid admission of loving Alex despite all his fears. I also liked them as a couple, even if Alex’s issue felt overdrawn.
Suspense, interesting characters and a band of protective alpha males usual in this type of story makes this read entertaining, yet not any different from other romantic suspense books.

This was definitely a “one more chapter” read. When you’re reading, and you know you need to stop, because, well, life and all, and you keep telling yourself you’ll stop after one more chapter. Trouble was, this story and these characters completely drew me in and I did stop reading, but only after I had finished all the chapters!

Alex and Mason have a definite draw to each other, and Mason has been circling, Alex while she has offered herself up to him time and time again. His past makes him leery and he wants better for her than himself. She only wants him and can’t make him see otherwise. Until he caves and gives in. Of course, the bad guys have the worst timing and interfere not once but twice. Not an easy path for either of them, but the satisfaction of when everything finally comes together was great. The series is also being nicely set up for more adventure and excitement, and couples, and I can’t wait for more

Deep Six Salvage is back and better than ever! I loved Alex so much in this story because what you saw was what you got. She spoke her mind and was determined to go after what she wanted. The friendship between her and Doc was a great compliment to the story. Mason is a big, badass ex-SEAL and the man Alex sets her sights on. She has her work cut out for her.
The secondary story going on with Chrissy and Wolf was just as interesting. I hope that they get a book somewhere in this series. This was such an addicting read that I could not step away from it.

I truly feel I have given this story a chance. And I’ve read stories by this author and have loved them.
I could not get into this one. Even skipping around couldn’t get me into this one.

The treasure hunt continues in this new installment of this series. Alex and Mason have been dancing around each other for some time and when the pair gave in, the chemistry was amazing! This read, was action packed as the group under goes a few attacks in their quest for the treasure. After a few bumps in the road - like Mason's issues from his marriage and Alex's virginity being a stumbling block in the beginning of their story, the pair get their HEA and love wins out. I enjoyed this book from the start and would recommend it and this series to others - especially if one enjoyed the Black Knight's series. I look forward to seeing what else is in story for this series.

This book was different then the previous one. It did not cover as much as diving if any as the book before. It mainly centered on the tortured hero and his past. Although it was a good book, I really wanted to dig deeper into the sunken treasure storyline a bit more. They were on the island to find it and it really wasn't even a part of the book. The storyline however was deep and emotional. It was the meat of the book and made for a great storyline, as a personal opinion I wish it would've covered more of the series deepwater diving.
I was given this book as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest opinion.

I only give five stars to books I will reread and enjoy just as much the second time and Ride the Tide is a big helping of five steamy stars. Alexis Merriweather joined up with the sexy, ex seals of Deep Six to help them uncover the shipwreck of the life time. Fluent in useless trivia and hot under the collar for Mason "Monet" McCarthy, Alex has offered herself up on a platter for Mason but Mason is not cooperating. Mason feels broken and knows Alex deserves more than he can offer and refuses to cash in her V-card. When danger from Mason's past comes slithering out of the cracks. Mason realizes just what Alex means to him. The hot, hard headed male and sweet historian heat up the pages of this romantic suspense novel from an author that will always leave you coming back for more. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review novel from Netgalley.

Mason, a Bostonian, is a former SEAL and he and his buddies have started Deep Six Salvage, they hunt for sunken ships. Mason is big muscled and doesn’t say much but has is loyal and protective. Alexis works for the guys translating old Spanish records. She is sunny and has a mind that rarely shuts down. Alexis has her pesky little virginity and asks Mason to get rid of it for her but he says no. That doesn’t stop Alexis from wanting Mason, she just ups her game. But when they are attacked on their way back to the island and finally escape they still don’t know who they were or what they wanted. They figure it’s over until they are attacked in the night. Mason will do anything to protect his friends and brothers.

A wonderfully, written story with characters that will have you cheering for them. A man who believes he isn’t normal and doesn’t deserve love and the woman determined to show him otherwise. Romantic, suspenseful, and action will leave you on pins and needles. This can be read by itself but to not be confused, the others should be read first. ( In my opinion ).

This book can be read as a standalone. Alexis "Alex" Merriweather is a historian who is helping ex-SEAL Mason McCarthy find the hidden treasure in the sunken Santa Cristina. Alex is attracted to Mason, and wants to sleep with him. When he finds out that she is a virgin, he is hesitant to get involved with her. Mason is still traumatized from his divorce; he thinks that there is something wrong with him, and he doesn't think that he is capable of being in a relationship. When one of Mason's enemy begins to target him, he has to protect Alex. I thought this book was fun, fast-paced, and full of action. The angst and drama between Mason and Alex made me keep reading. However, I felt like I was more interested in the budding relationship between Wolf, a fellow ex-SEAL and friend of Mason, and Chrissy. I wanted to see more closure with their relationship since they obviously like each other, but haven't made anything official. A fun contemporary romance book for readers looking for action and ex-military main characters.

I became a fan of this author when I read her Black Knights Inc series. A series I absolutely loved and would highly recommend.
Even though I had not read the previous books in this series, I was anxious to get a chance to read it.
The series centers around a group of former military individuals that work as treasure hunters.
Mason McCarthy is one of these men. A former SEAL, he is all about the hunt with no desire of having a relationship. Along comes historian Alexis Merriweather who joins them in the search of the lost treasure of Santa Catalina. She’s inexperienced but enthusiastic and determined to get Mason to notice her. He seems to succeed in ignoring her until his past comes into his present life and puts him and Alexis in danger.
Will the danger make Mason realize that he still has a chance at love? Will it be too late to find HEA?
This was an engaging story with complex and interesting characters. Though at times I have to confess , I wanted Alexis less obvious in her infatuation with Mason.
Still it was a story that leaves me wanting to read the next book in the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Sourcebooks Casablanca. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

2.5 stars rounding up...

I’ve always liked Julie Ann Walker’s idea of military veterans running a crew of treasure-seeking men while getting some unexpected thrills along the way, though ‘Ride the Tide’ feels somewhat tangential to that overall theme that Walker’s got going here. The search for the Santa Cristina isn’t what takes centre-stage but rather, a threat in Mason McCarthy’s previous life as a SEAL returning and putting pretty much everyone else in danger.

There are times when I do enjoy the angst of seeing how unrequited-love drama might unfold when it’s written the way I know will be soul-destroying.

Unfortunately, ‘Ride the Tide’ isn’t quite one of them, despite Walker’s fast-paced and pretty good writing that does a solid job of working up the growing tension between Mason and a certain extremely talkative historian who, could either be viewed as admirably dogged or foolishly desperate in her bid to get a man who, for most of the book, pushes her away just as doggedly.

Mason and Alexis Merriweather have always wanted each other, but Mason would never commit to something more after compounding his entire life issues (including PTSD and his failed marriage) into something of a big mess that he couldn’t seem to deal with like the big boy he should be.

On the other hand, Alex’s inability to let nothing but words, words and words fly unfiltered from her mouth made her more like a hormonal teen than a fully-fledged adult, more so because there was so much harping on the issue of her virginity: it was made such a big deal of; it was also implicitly mocked as an entity that she couldn’t wait to shed and that only Mason was the man to do that job.

Having Alex constantly throwing herself at Mason (the pesky virginity issue wasn’t dealt with in a manner I could personally swallow hook, line and sinker as a reader), putting herself out there over and over again despite his rejections was made worse by his inability to do the same up until a reluctant love-confession at the end…all of which left a sour taste in my mouth.

In the end, I vacillated between feeling sorry for Alex and thinking that she could have really done better than to fall in love with a man who needed a huge life-changing, dangerous moment to realise that he actually loved her as well after spending the whole time vigorously avoiding the topic.

The Deep Six crew is one that I’ll continue following but ‘Ride the Tide’ is frankly not a favourite book of mine given how much I was looking forward to this particular instalment. I really wished I enjoyed this one more especially after the huge gap between books, but it just didn't work out that way.

ARC received for review

The search for the lost treasure of Santa Cristina continues. Alex has tried to hook up with Mason for a while but he believes he is tainted and keeps pushing her away. Of course, she finally gets her way after a bad guy pops up. True love wins in the end. I can't wait to see how Chrissy and Wolf finally get together. Plus who knows what waits for Doc and Romeo

And Julie's back! I've been waiting and waiting for the next story in this series and Julie does not disappoint! It is super cool to be on this journey with these treasure hunters and they look for the hidden treasure both in the sean and in their hearts! We met Alex in a previous story and it was so much fun watching her and Mason fall in love. They earned their happy ending! I hope we don't have to wait so long for the next story in the series! I can't wait to see the other fall. A 5 star must read!

OMG, I LOVED this book!!!!!! Mason is the bad-boy SEAL who thinks he's a damaged killer, while Alex is the good girl determined to replace experience with enthusiasm. Together, the sparks fly as Mason struggles to protect Alex from himself. Their romance sizzled so hot that I'm surprised my kindle didn't ignite.... Add in some crazy's from Mason's SEAL days that remain determined to kill him, and you have everything you need for a great story.

I loved the characters in this book. The author made them come to life on the page and make me feel like I was a part of their world. I was totally engrossed in their story and felt invested in their getting a HEA ending.

If you are a fan of the genre, you will love this book. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
