Guarded by the Soldier was an okay read. If I could have looked past some unbelievable aspects, I would have enjoyed it more.

I felt like the characters kept getting found by the bad guys and then escaping, over and over again. It was just difficult to believe.

All in all, I didn't enjoy this book that much and it is not one I plan on rereading.

This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced. It was quick and enjoyable. The main characters were really exciting to follow on their journey. I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed! I recommend.

This is quite a suspenseful story. Olivia is being pursued by men that mean her harm, but she has no idea why they are trying to kill her. Her situation is complicated by her pregnancy and trying to take care of her little boy. She finds herself having to trust people that she doesn’t know, all the while still trusting that God will keep them in His care.

This story takes quite a few unexpected turns. Ryker is a man that Olivia can trust, but getting her to safety is a challenge for him. I liked the supporting cast of the Callahan family, and the faith and loyalty that is part of their lives. Laura Scott hit just the right balance of love, faith, and suspense in this story.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

A twisted, action-packed tale with charming characters in the middle of perilous, potentially lethal situations delivers a captivating story that I couldn't put down.
It is no secret that I love Laura Scott's style of writing. Her ability to tell a story where intense suspense and heartwarming romance enchant the mind, endearing characters win the hearts over, and their unwavering faith in God inspires.
It has been a few books ago when I read the first book in the series, yet as soon as I started to read this one, the previous events came rushing to my mind, and I was eager to find out what's going on.
The connection between Ryker Tillman and Olivia Habush was sweet, believable, and natural, so tender - fragile even - as she is pregnant with her late husband's baby, I got all the warm and snuggly feels from them. How Ryker interacted with Olivia's kid, how the bond and trust was formed, it was all a testament to Ryker's good character, to his distinction and decency despite his doubts.
A fabulous faith-based romantic suspense story that easily could be read as a standalone book, yet is volume two in a series that I can highly recommend!

This is an action packed romantic suspense and another fantastic read from the Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense series.

Olivia Habush is on the run, not from the law but from an organisation both her husband and brother worked for before they were killed. She has no idea why they want her but she’s determined to protect herself, Aaron, her young son, and her unborn child. She was feeling settled but then someone tried to kidnap her. She was rescued by another stranger, Ryker Tillman, a stranger who knew her name and about her situation. Should she trust him? When they return to where she’s been staying they make a discovery which makes it imperative for her to start running again, but this time Ryker is going to endeavour to keep them all safe, using all his knowledge as a security expert and some friends he trusts to protect them and to help discover just why the mercenaries are after her…..

This is a real page turner with great characters, lots of dangerous situations and a heartwarming romance, too. I found it an engaging read that I really didn’t want to put down until everything was resolved and have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys this genre! It is a story where faith and prayer help guide the couple in their quest for safety and where her unborn child could make an appearance at any moment to add to their worries!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so.

This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a stand alone. This is a clean romantic suspense. I liked both Olivia and Ryker. They were good characters that were well written. Olivia and her son are being pursued by men who want something from her. If chasing her and son aren't enough she is also pregnant so you get another layer of danger. Ryker is a former solider who is determined to help Olivia and her children. This book is well written and I enjoyed it.

Who is Olivia? Who is Ryder? What has Olivia grabbing her son and hiding in a bathroom? Where is she? We get to see most of the Callahan men in this suspenseful romance. There was a lot of mystery behind what was happening to Olivia. Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? I was shocked in some cases! As more of the story becomes clear, I get angry at Tim and Craig. Why? Then I have to add Seth and Tony into that equation. Read and see why I am angry at these four and what happens!

Ryker Tillman was on the team that brought Olivia's late husband and her brother to justice, he follows his instincts, offering his protection to Olivia Habush and her son from mercenaries hot on their heels.

Fast paced, with great characters and relationship building, with a layered plot that had me on the edge of my seat. Olivia and Ryker were both people that I could cheer for throughout and I love how they both grew in their faith, and have supportive friends in their lives. I admired Olivia, she is courageous, her new faith is tested, and she is an excellent mother, fighting to keep them safe.

Ryker has been a lone wolf for a long time, but he fits right in with Olivia and Aaron. Aaron is an adorable 3 year old, and he takes to Ryker almost instantly. I admired Ryker's determination as well as his honesty with himself and willingness to take on new adventures.

I loved the intensity in this book, there is so much going on, and the plot kept me guessing, it was far from straightforward or predictable! I loved how this story builds on the backstory, but doesn't revolve around it, it instead expands on it, making it simply a jumping off point.Yet this high action energy is balanced with tender moments of faith, love, and friendship, which is one of the reasons Laura Scott is one of my favorite Love Inspired authors.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Ryker Tillman was willing to give his life for his country in Afghanistan. Now, with his own security country, he is willing to lay down his life for the lives of pregnant Olivia Habush and her toddler son Aaron. Olivia knew that her husband was working for some really bad guys, but she had no idea that after Tim died, his legacy would be danger for her and Aaron. Pursued by the relentless killers from Blake-Moore, Olivia has nowhere to turn until Ryker shows up and rescues her. All of the action was like a movie rolling in my head, with one heart-stopping scene after another. Ryker called in his buddies from the war, the Callahans and Duncan. They offer a little comic relief and a lot of help to Ryker and Olivia. Throughout the book, no sooner do she and Aaron get out of danger than a fresh group of mercenaries shows up to force her to give them something that supposedly Tim left with her. The ride through this book was wild and fast-paced, but best of all, it was all a totally clean ride, with no expletives or graphically described violence. My only criticism is that the book was such a fast read that I was surprised when it ended. That’s not to say that I didn’t like the conclusion; I just didn’t want it to end!

Title: Guarded by the Soldier
Author: Laura Scott
Genre: Romance
Rating: 4 out of 5

He’ll put his life on the line…

If it means protecting a little boy and his pregnant mom.

After months of searching, security expert Ryker Tillman finally finds Olivia Habush and her young son—just as they are attacked by armed mercenaries. Now safeguarding Olivia, her unborn child and little Aaron is the former special ops soldier’s new mission. But to save the family burrowing into his heart, Ryker must figure out why someone wants them dead…

It was a nice change to see a romance heroine that’s eight months pregnant. That added another level to the doubts and fears she experienced, on top of the whole running-for-her-life thing. Olivia is pregnant and has a toddler, plus Ryker was involved in the deaths of her husband and brother, so that gave this novel a nice little twist, along with her pregnancy.

This was a solid, quick read, with enough twists to make it unique while knowing it would end with an HEA-outcome.

Laura Scott is a nurse and an author. Guarded by the Soldier is her newest novel.

This is the second book in The Seekers series but can be read as a standalone story. Having said that, I will be g0ing back to read the first book as I did enjoy this one. In this story we meet widow, Olivia Habush and her three year old son Aaron who are on the run. After the death of her husband and her kidnapping by mercenaries that he worked with, Olivia has managed to remain in hiding for a few month, that safety she has started to become used to vanishes in a moment. Rykker, an ex-soldier has been looking for her after coming upon her house and realizing she and her son are missing. He tracks her down just in time. What follows is a harrowing adventure alluding the group that is after her. She needs to figure out what they want https://wp.me/p6H3KI-3G8as well as keep her son and soon to be born baby, safe.

This is a quick read with lots of action. Olivia is not a victim. She has fought for her little family's safety and will do whatever it takes to keep doing that. She is a smart woman who uses that to save herself on a couple of occasions. She is also pretty physically fit for a woman who is 8 months pregnant. She is also vulnerable for love and caring, after what she has been through. Rykker is a swoon worthy hero. He is handsome, caring, loyal and determined. He wants to save Olivia and Aaron at any cost, and begins to feel deeply for them both relatively quickly. Aaron is a child too good to be true. He has his moments, but he is so well behaved that I wanted to give him a hug myself. He wanted to be with his mommy so badly and definitely wanted the baby to be a little brother. There were a lot of strong, strapping heroes in the story, a double cross that I was expecting and unfortunately a few dead bodies along the way. This is also a faith story. Olivia continues to pray that God show her the path he has for them, and that he give Rykker the knowledge and strength to save them. I recommend this one to those who enjoy a Christian Suspenseful Romance that has a HAE.

This is so intense, my heart racing from the get go and it keeps going until the end, I finally can breathe easily in the epilogue.
It's a fast-paced suspense read with a lot of actions, there's romance but it's only a small portion, the suspense is the main attraction here. A woman on the run with a toddler and her unborn baby, thank goodness there's Ryker to help and protect them from the bad guys. Yup there's a lot of actions, mystery and suspense that makes this book can be devoured easily in one sitting, a bit sweetness that put a smile on my face, so for me it's definitely a MUST-READ for anyone who's looking for a fast-paced suspense romance read.

Olivia is pregnant and on the run with her son. Her life is in danger and clearly someone is after her. Ryker is a security expert who came just at the right him to help her. Ryker will do everything in his power to make sure this mother is protected and find out who ever is behind everything and stop them.

I loved this book from start to end I was hooked. There was so much going on with the close calls and trying to figure out what was going on. Then there was the who fact that she was pregnant and due soon and anything could happen when it comes to her and the baby which amped things more stressful. If you like a fast paced read that you can escape into I suggest you pick this book up.

3.5 stars Guarded by the Soldier was a quick clean romantic suspense. For the most part, I enjoyed the book. It is the second in a series, but the great things about these is they hold up well as stand alone books. I liked both Ryker and Olivia. Olivia and her son are being pursued by men who want something from her and Ryker ends up helping them. There was an added level of danger since Olivia is 8 months pregnant. I won't give too much away, but the book opens with Olivia in danger and doesn't stop until the end. Check out the excerpt below to read the opening scene. I do recommend this one.

Guarded by the Soldier is a fast-paced romantic suspense that is the second in a series - something I wasn't aware of until I started reading. This one seems to be a follow up to the first book, but Laura Scott has done an excellent job of giving us the information we need so that this one works well as a standalone, which I greatly appreciated. As far as this one goes, I liked the characters and the premise. Olivia being pregnant was an interesting twist, especially with everything going on, and I always like when a sweet little one is included in the story. Ryker is a great character, and I'll just say that I wouldn't have a problem with this guy being my bodyguard. All in all, this one is an entertaining romantic suspense, and I would think that anyone who enjoys the genre would enjoy this one.

Ryker Tillman is a security expert who has his own reasons for spending months trying to locate Olivia Habush and her young son Aaron. Right when he finds them they are facing an assailant. Not only is Ryker prepared to do whatever he can to protect Olivia and Aaron, his concern is increased tenfold due the fact that she is pregnant with another child.

Olivia lost her husband and brother when they took on the lives of criminals. Their deaths do not seem to be enough as it seems someone would rather see her dead as well. When Ryker steps in there is no doubt that Olivia is not sure that she can trust him. After all, who is he really? How was he able to find them?

Although this book is just a little over two hundred pages, the author manages to fit in an excellent storyline that is packed with intensity, danger and romance. I loved Ryker and Olivia together. While their tension was palpable so was their attraction to one another. I hadn't read the first book in this series, but had no problems at all following this story. I am, however, hoping that this series has more to offer.

Many thanks to Love Inspired Suspense and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

A Mother and Child on the Run

Olivia, eight months pregnant and with her three-year-old Aaron, has been on the run for six months. She married her brother’s best friend. They were both soldiers, but when they came back from the war and joined a band or mercenaries they changed. Her husband was no longer interested in the family. He’d become more interested in money. When he was killed, Olivia became a target for the mercenaries including her own brother.

For six months, she’s felt safe, but one day on the way home from the church, she’s grabbed and forced into an alley. Luckily Ryker, an ex-soldier, has been watching her. He intervenes and convinces her that she has to run again. Although she doesn’t want to trust another soldier, Ryker begins to earn her trust.

This book is filled with suspense and violence from the first pages. It moves quickly and keeps your attention hoping Olivia and Ryker will escape. Although this is a romance, there are no sex scenes and there is an emphasis on Olivia’s religious background.

I liked Olivia. She’s a fighter. She’s been on her own for six months and had to fight off one attack on her life. She’s attracted to Ryker, but she doesn’t immediately fall into his arms. She’s cautious where she gives her love for a second time. Ryker is also a good character. He wants to take care of Olivia and has feeling for her, but he doesn’t push her.

If you enjoy a romance filled with action, this is a good one.

I received this book from Harlequin for this review.

Olivia who is eight months pregnant, along with her toddler daughter is on the run once again when a stranger grabs her and says that he isn’t there to hurt her, he is there to help her get away.

Ryker, an ex soldier is determined to keep Olivia and her family safe from the mercenaries that are after her. He vows to go to whatever lengths he must to find the people that are hunting her and stop them once and for all.

Olivia and Ryker are trying to escape the mercenaries that are trying to retrieve something from Olivia. The problem is, Olivia has no idea what they are after. Her husband had been a criminal and now Olivia is paying the price.

Along with Rykers friends, they keep dodging the mercenaries, but they are getting closer and things start getting dicey. Will they outrun the people hunting her and figure out what they are after in time?

This story twists and turns and leaves you in suspense on every page. I loved how brilliantly Laura Scott writes and has you hanging on every word trying to figure out the mystery of the story. It was a fabulous book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you so much to the author Laura Scott, Harlequin and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous!
