Blaze is a "geek" girl who falls for a boy called Mark the Shark among other things. He is her brother Josh's soccer coach and when he ends up needing transportation she's more than willing to help him out. Since he's a charmer and they get to know each other via these rides, he eventually basically seduces her into having sex. A lot of the story was too real-to-life of a teenage girl. She loses her virginity for all the wrong reasons! Unfortunately, something happens that causes Mark to pull away for Blaze and she's not having it, so she sets out to get her revenge. Problem is games like she plays and he plays back all too often end up really hurting someone.
Blaze didn't really stand up for herself in ways that made you respect her. She wasn't a kickass heroine but rather weak in my opinion. I like to see a strong woman/young woman (she's 17) who can potentially reach the intended audience but in a good way which I don't think happened. Then you have Amanda (a mean girl) who did just about the worst thing a female can do to another female and it's the reason Mark pushed Blaze away...no, she didn't sleep with him.
In general, I just really didn't like the way young teen girls were portrayed in this book so it just wasn't my cup of tea.
