This is a new author for me, do I have to read another of her books? Honestly I don't think I will or honestly I won't go out of my way to read her when there are other authors that I can't get enough of. OK let clarify, did I hate it? No, but did I love it? Yeah no. There was a lot of issues packed in this book and I wished we got more answers than what we were left with, and normally if I liked a book I wouldn't care if I knew the second books was coming to finish getting our answers but not so much with this.

I really enjoyed the previous Atlanta Edge Hockey book. This book was a fun read. I finished it in a day. This book can be read as a stand alone book or after the previous book.

Connor Ellison is one of Atlanta Edge’s best wingers and biggest prankster, He is on thin ice with management for his past bad behavior. He is trying to go on the straight and narrow for his upcoming contract negotiations.

Lily Jones is working hard for her family ice rink. She is a partial owner of it and she wants to see it succeed. She has never been one to go out and party or just to let go. She finally decides to go with some friends to Vegas to let go a little.

The next day Lily and Connor wake up together and realize that they are married. Connor is given an ultimatum by the coaches and the PR department. He must stay married until the end of the run for the Cup or be available for trade. Can he talk Lily into it?

I received Fake Play through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Fake Play starts in Vegas where Lily and Connor realize that they got drunkenly married the night before. Lily is the daughter of a former hockey player and helps her dad run the ice rink he owns. Connor also has a former hockey player as a father and is current a player himself. He has a reputation for being a playboy and is ready to swear off all of the stunts when he finds himself in his biggest stunt of all. Follow Lily and Connor as they make their way through this sudden relationship and see where life takes them.

I am a huge hockey romance fan and I am happy to say that Fake Play was one of my favorites that I’ve read. I loved seeing how Lily and Connor found themselves throughout their relationship after being thrust together one drunken night. Fake Play was well written and had just the right amount of chemistry, family drama and sexy scenes.

I am glad I got the chance to read Fake Play and look forward to reading other books by Carla Swafford.

In Fake Play, Lilly and Connor fell in love....after getting married. They had a wild weekend in Vegas, which resulted in marriage. As part of helping Connor rid his “bad boy” persona, he was told they had to stay married until after the Stanley Cup. I liked Lilly’s quick wit and that she’s not your usual romance heroine. But Connor didn’t fit his character. I never pictured him as a partier prankster. The book was a little crude for my personal taste and the epilogue was out of sorts for the rest of the book- kind of like the author just tagged it on to address all the major issues that hadn’t been resolved throughout the novel.

Connor and Lily are two interesting characters. The author doesn’t tell you too much about why they act/think the way they do. You get to know them and there’s more to both of them. Connor and Lily marry on Las Vegas after a night of partying. Circumstances dictate they should stay married and they slowly fall in love.

I love that Lily isn’t a typical heroine. She’s tall and athletic.

I love hockey romances and this book checked all my boxes. I’m looking forward to other books in the series.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I’m always down for a hockey romance. This one was average, I liked Lilly and Connor but there was just something missing - maybe more comradarie with the hockey team? The epilogue was a little out of sorts. Three stars- thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

Connor Ellison is a hockey player known for his reckless and drunken behavior off the ice. He is close to being removed from the team. Lily Jones is part owner of an ice rink. She played goalie in her college and was all set to go to the Olympics when a tragic accident happened leaving her mom in a coma. Each has challenges they face in relating to their families. Lily and Connor meet at a New Year's Eve party in Las Vegas, and after a night of drinking, wake up married.
Connor cannot afford to have his name blackened even more with another scandal, so he proposes a deal with Lily, stay married until after playoffs and he will bail out her families ice rink from bankruptcy.
Can these two strangers find a way to make a life together, or will the go their separate ways when the season ends?
Light, easy read that flowed easily from one page to the next. I enjoyed the characters and found myself rooting for them.

Is there hope for Connor and Lily’s marriage?

Lily Jones wants a fun trip to Las Vegas with her friends for a weekend when she woke up married to hockey player Connor Ellison. Their first thought was to arrange an annulment until his team found out and told him that he needed to stay married until the end of the season otherwise he would be traded. Lily wanted to get the divorce until Connor said he would help financially the skating rink that she owned with her dad.

Could Connor stop pulling jokes on his teammates or would the ultimatum make him realize that there was more in life that being the center of the crowd and Lily was happy just being together at home so maybe there might be hope for the marriage.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was an accidental marriage to falling in love story. I wanted one of them to remember that night but it never really happens. I also felt like Connor was touted in the beginning as a big jokester but I feel like it didn't fit his character well.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Professional hockey player/bad boy Conner Ellison toeing a fine line of being benched for the rest of the season due to his unprofessional behavior off the rink. Conner wakes up in bed next to Lily Jones after a night neither remember, including getting married! Instead of a quiet annulment, Conner is given the ultimatum by the PR department to make the marriage work until after playoffs or he is done. Lily wants nothing to do with Conner but since he offers to save her family's skating rink she is willing to give this fake marriage a try. But will it turn into more?

This was a good read but I wish it would have had more story line and less erotica. There are some big cliffhangers about Lily's family, specifically her brother.

This book was given to me an an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

I loved a good hockey romance. This one was cute. I wish there was more hockey.
At times, the story seemed a little weird with a lot of things that I am not sure why they were in the book (her brother and his family).

It was a cute story overall.

Good book! I've read both books in this series and they're definitely standalone! I do have to say I enjoyed this book more than book one! Although that book was good too! This book was 🔥🔥🔥! It had intrigue and some heartbreak and heartache! The characters were well written. This book is definitely worth reading! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
