I am reviewing a copy of Forgiving What You Can’t Forget through Nelson Books and Netgalley:

If you are looking for a journey to forgiveness, a journey that may not be easy, but one that is necessary. Forgiveness can be a painful process and the person we are forgiving may want no part of the progress but we must remember that forgiveness is for us.

Forgiveness is not made possible by our determination, forgiveness is made possible by our cooperation with what God has already done.

It is important that we remember that Forgiveness happened when Jesus died on the cross for us.

If you have ever felt that you were stuck in a cycle of unresolved pain, playing offenses over and over in your mind? You know you can't go on like this, but you don't know what to do next. Lysa TerKeurst has wrestled through this journey. But in surprising ways, she’s discovered how to let go of bound-up resentment and overcome the resistance to forgiving people who aren’t willing to make things right.

I give Forgiving What You Can’t Forget five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

As usual, another raw, authentic book from Lysa Terkeurst. She talks about forgiveness and how she has had so much to forgive others for. She is very honest about her own struggles with forgiveness that the book was so relatable. She made some good points when she mentioned that unforgiveness has ever healed anyone or made anyone whole. I loved all the Bible verses she put in towards the end of the book pertaining to forgiveness with guidelines how to apply them.

Lysa TerKeust has written a book that is useful for anyone who is looking for a biblical exploration on forgiveness and application in daily life. For those who have been hurt and are struggling with forgiveness, this is a must-read. It's about allowing God to be in control of your life and using his strength to persevere when forgiveness seems impossible. As someone who is the midst of learning to forgive someone who hurt me, I cried throughout the whole book, but with each chapter, I felt better and could feel God's comfort and love.

What can I say? I’m an absolute fangirl for Lysa TerKeurst.

The way that she writes as if she is speaking to a friend is so gentle and loving. It seems as if this woman has gone through it all- honestly, it seems like a bit of a modern day Job story to me. Through it all, not only does she remain faithful, but she chooses to share her stories with others, along with the wisdom she’s gained from walking through her trials. I am so thankful for her wise words.

Forgiving What You Can’t Forget comes out later this month. Lysa and her husband Art almost got a divorce after he had an affair (and she also gets diagnosed with breast cancer in the midst of all that). This book stems from her reconciliation with her husband, but it is such a resource for anyone who’s been deeply hurt and is journeying through the process of letting go of the grip that hurt has on their lives and relationships. It’s such a powerful testimony. Don’t miss this one.

If you’re heartbroken by the world around us (and how could you not be?), this book will bless you.
