This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced. I really liked both Coral and Trevor. They were really exciting to follow! I’m always iffy about second chance romances, but this one really worked for me.

Incognito Ex is pretty much what the title suggests - a second chance romance and somebody's undercover. The story is more focused on the romance than the suspense, but it certainly has its moments of danger and excitement. Coral and Trevor do have good chemistry, so they generate a bit of steam in the midst of the danger. That part of the story goes a little over the top, especially when it comes to Coral saving the day - there's nothing wrong with a strong woman taking charge, it's just that Coral's heroic efforts do require some suspension of disbelief. Granted, this is fiction, and believable or not, it's an entertaining story with a good combination of romance and danger.

3.5 stars

Coral and Trevor are actually both from the same part of the country, but, ironically, met thousands of miles away while in college. They soon became a couple, fell in love, and married. Trevor became a marine, and was often deployed. It wasn’t long before they were only seeing each other about two months out of the year. When Trevor’s stint in the service was over, Coral was hopeful that they could begin to work on their marriage, which had become strained. Trever, however, is now involved in sensitive undercover work, and continues to be absent for much of the time. Though they both still loved each other, they finally decide to divorce after five years of marriage, agreeing that their life together will never work and was just making them both miserable.

Three years have passed, and Coral has moved back to Silver Valley, PA, her home town, and started a catering / event business. The area has become a prime location for Russian organized crime, and Coral’s property has become the site for some stashed data. Unknown to Coral, Trevor’s undercover group is fighting this organization, and he, also, has been back in Silver Valley, though he took care to avoid Coral. Now that she may be in direct danger, Trevor steps in, determined to protect her.

Their first meeting in three years occurs when Coral encounters three men scouring her property at night. She foolishly confronts them, only to be taken captive by two thugs and Trevor, undercover, who has infiltrated their group. I was really annoyed at Coral’s reaction in this situation, as her unthinking comments all but blow Trevor’s cover. Trevor ends up taking her to a safe house, and eventually introducing her to others in his organization.

As INCOGNITO EX takes off from this point, two things happen. First, the sizzling passion between Coral and Trevor flares up again. Though they both feel they’re totally wrong for each other, they can’t seem to put their desire for each other aside. The second thing is that Coral and Trevor seem to almost change roles. Trevor makes mistakes that a seasoned agent shouldn’t make, almost appearing inept at times, while Coral receives some training and soon is doing much of the rescuing.

I felt that I had to suspend disbelief at some of the action, particularly one of the outlandish rescues that Coral pulls off. While I enjoy seeing a woman become more empowered, I like it to feel real, and I don’t like to see it done at the expense of making the other main character look amateurish. What I did enjoy was seeing Coral and Trevor each come to terms with the mistakes they made during their marriage, and risk making some changes to take another chance at the genuine love they still feel. I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series, but a lot of the necessary information was provided here so I didn’t feel lost. The romance was the strongest part of this story, and I think it will appeal to readers who enjoy a second chance at love.

There's something about seeing the Harlequin logo that has me one-clicking, ready to indulge in a great romance. And this author definitely brought me that.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Trevor and Coral are a true power couple in this delightful second chance romance. The story is very suspenseful, and it keeps moving with only the most necessary bits of Trevor and Coral’s history, focusing more on their present developing relationship than the past. The agency that Trevor works for is very underground, and a lot of the story has a real secret agent/spy story feel to it, especially with the international gangster angle. I did find some of the characters’ choices a bit odd, but overall the story works well in both romance and suspense aspects. There’s definite chemistry between Trevor and Coral and though the suspense aspect includes mention of events that, presumably, happened in other books in the Silver Valley PD series, this book is easily readable – and enjoyable – on its own. This volume definitely piques the interest in the other books in the series, but it also has a very nice, emotionally satisfying ending that will please any Romantic Suspense reader.

Incognito Ex by Geri Krotow was absolutely amazing. I am not surprised though as I am a huge fan of Krotow's work. She always finds a way to pull me in with action packed love in her romantic suspense books. I love how she continuously keeps me on my toes.

Incognito Ex pulled me in from the beginning with talking about previous accidents on Coral's farm, Then when she is targeted herself we meet the man who had heart and broke it with always being gone on undercover assignments.

Trevor has only ever loved one woman and when he got the chance to go undercover in her town he had to take it. Never in a million years did he expect to actually run into her. He thought he could just be close by and keep the Russians away from her. Little did he know the love of his life would be the target of the Russians he was neck deep undercover.

A 3.5 "thrilling" stars.

A suspense read mixed with second-chance romance with a lot of actions, definitely my kind of books.
The thrill started from the first chapter, then it keeps going till the last chapter, there are some things that I found a bit weird and unbelieveable, and it's really bothering me, the "really? seriously?" moments haunting me till the end, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless, it has a perfect amount of thrill and sweetness, there are some steaminess in it too, so it's an entertaining enjoyable light suspense romance read and you guys must try it.

My thoughts

Rating: 5

Would I recommend it? Yes

Would I read more of this series ? Yes

Would I read more by this author? Yes

first off I want to say a big thank you to Harlequin as well as to NetGalley for letting me read and review as well as well as helping me to find a new series to read. And I'm so glad that I decide to read it because I love reading romance stories especially when its one that Harlequin Romantic Suspense puts out because I know that their and their authors will never let me down. And this one didn't because it has everything you could and would want in a suspense romance which is Danger, sexual tension, and full of action that keeps you own the edge of your set.Another thing I loved was the inter action between Coral and Trevor. And other thing about the story itself was the that energy is high and the story line flowed together in a away that you can understand what going on with out having to read the other books in the series .

This is a nicely written romantic suspense with some intense love scenes included. Coral Staufer and Trevor Stone were previously married, to each other, and when Coral is threatened by the Russian mob, Trevor shows up as her protector. He is part of an elite group of covert law enforcement, kind of like the CIA, but not. The head of the mobsters is a woman, Anna Markova, and she has hidden lockboxes on Coral’s property and will stop at nothing to retrieve them, including murder. Her reach is long and that seemed to be very realistic, although I don’t know much about mobs. Anyway, this is the first book that I have read by this author and she definitely kept my attention, especially during the tense escape scenes. Her characters are realistic in that they have weaknesses and flaws that are totally believable. The scenario itself was a little far-fetched for me, but I bought into the plot line and actually really enjoyed it. Fans of romantic suspense will enjoy this new romantic suspense from Harlequin.

This was a really good read. It has romance with some heat, action and suspense. The story was intriguing and kept me hooked, it had a good flow. I liked that you could see how well Trevor and Coral worked together and that both were able to acknowledge their issues and work on them.

If you want an easy to read story with romance and action then I recommend Incognito Ex.

Breathtakingly fast, explosive action against the Russian mobsters and second chance romance for a divorced couple carries this rapidly unfolding tale.
I loved the fast tempo of the tale, and I think it was the force that kept my interest high, wanting to know how it all would conclude: you have no other option than hold on to the wild ride!
The book is part of a series, and I think it would have benefited me greatly if I have had read the previous books. There are a lot of characters, a lot of references to past events and people in them, and I think I would have been more interested in them if I knew their story, as well.
The fight against the Russian mobsters, undercover law enforcement working on the task force, and quest to find missing information boxes before the gangsters, it all worked for me because everything happens so swiftly I had no time to wonder if it was believable or not, just holding on for the bumpy roll-a-coaster ride.
When it comes to the romance between Coral Staufer and Trevor Stone I am conflicted, like always when the reason for a split of a relationship, not to mention divorce, is self-sacrifice and lack of communication. Even the sex scenes between them seamed riding on angry energy than passionate chemistry. Through halfway of the book, I wasn't sure if they would end up together - and this is a Harlequin romance. So yes, I was conflicted with Coral and Trevor, yet the author showed her skills to tell a dynamic, vigorous tale with spry twists in the plot, full of vim and vigor, in a book that turned out to be so entertaining it was unputdownable.
A captivating adventure, a wild ride for Coral to find peace of mind, in her heart, and to her farm that changes her life completely

Coral wants to set up a new business, a wedding destination, and by so doing, she hopes to make a name for herself. However, she soon finds that she is about be in the clutches of a Russian mobster. The problem is that he man hid something on he property and now he wants it back, no matter the cost.

Coral only has one person to turn to, ex-husband Trevor, an undercover agent. They had a passionate marriage but had long decided to part ways. While Trevor's time and attention should go towards Coral's safety, intense desire gets in the way, almost as if it was an inevitability.

Danger and passion ride high in this quick read by Geri Krotow. Second chance romances are a trope I rather enjoy, especially when the conflicts seem insurmountable. I loved the give and take between Coral and Trevor, and couldn't help but root for them as they worked to see where they stood with each other.

This thrilling read packs a punch! When you have military, mobsters and agents mixing in a story, coupled with the draw Coral and Trevor have for one another, then you have the formula for a terrific read. With excellent pacing, likable characters and a satisfying conclusion, Incognito Ex proved to be a wonderful read.

Many thanks to Harlequin Romantic Suspense and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Coral Staufer has had a rough year. After her divorce she heads back home to start an event business on her family’s farm, and now finds herself with a blown up barn and home. To add to the excitement, Russian mobsters are now on her property looking for something. She is being held at knifepoint when she hears a familiar voice.

Trevor Stone is deep undercover with the Russian mob when he finds himself face to face with his ex-wife whom he has never stopped loving.

Things begin to heat up as Coral and Trevor race against the clock to find what the mob has hidden on her property. Between shoot outs and hide outs, Coral and Trevor also realize that maybe those feelings that are surfacing are more than just adrenaline highs.

What a face paced novel filled with mystery, intrigue, and a second chance at love. Although this was the eighth book in the series, the author Geri Krotow did an excellent job of filling in the back story of all the supporting characters and the back story of the mob. I read this as a stand a lone novel and had no trouble keeping up to the story line. This book has all the right ingredients for a perfect summer read!

Coral comes across a couple of Russian Gangsters and comes to find her ex amoung them undercover. Now shes become a target and Trevor will do everything in his power to protect his ex wife.

From the very beginning of this book its so very easy fall into this book. There was so much going on in this book with very little time to really do much and yet Trevor and Coral did make use of the time alone with some steamy times. Problem is with whats going on there is so much on the line I mean Trevor is on a case, their relationship failed because of his job and so many other things. With them being close now its hard to know the future of their relationship even after all is said and done. But first there is a case to solve and relationship comes second if they manage to survive it. Highly Recommend!

Terrific second chance romance combined with gripping suspense. I stayed up way too late reading it and picked it up first thing in the morning, anxious to finish it.

Coral left California after her divorce and returned to her hometown. She opened an event planning business that did very well until an explosion destroyed the barn and part of the farmhouse that she used. She is working hard to rebuild her business while supervising the rebuilding of her barn. She lives in a camper on the property to be closer. One night she confronts trespassers, only to discover that they are members of the same Russian Organized Crime group that blew up her barn. Threatened with rape and murder by two of the three intruders, Coral is stunned to recognize her ex as the third man.

Trevor isn't happy to see Coral. She was supposed to be away that night, or he wouldn't have led the men there. He has been undercover for months, working to bring down the ROC responsible for drug trafficking and more. The items they are searching for were hidden by the local leader who is currently in jail and could bring down the big boss. Trevor will do anything, even break his cover, to protect Coral.

I loved the suspense of this book. The action was nearly nonstop from the start. Trevor and Coral work together to find the missing items, but the ROC is on their heels the whole time. The attacks increased in intensity, especially once Markova escaped from jail. I loved the scene with the plane, where Coral is the one responsible for their escape. The final confrontation had me on the edge of my seat as Trevor and Coral faced off with Markova over the last of the missing information. Their teamwork was fantastic, and though it didn't turn out quite as I expected, it was satisfying. The danger wasn't quite over, though, as there was a hidden player who had an interest in the outcome. That encounter was a nail-biter, saved by Trevor's timely arrival.

I loved the rekindling of the relationship between Trevor and Coral. They had married young, but the marriage didn't hold up well against Trevor's frequent deployments as a Marine and later undercover missions. However, neither has forgotten the love they once shared. The sparks between them are still there, but both are determined to resist them. Trevor divorced Coral because he felt that his job put her in danger, and that made him no good for her. That reasoning still holds true for him. Coral simply doesn't want to risk having her heart broken again. But a funny thing happens as they work together. Coral gains a better understanding of Trevor's work and the effect it has on him. Trevor gains a new respect for Coral and her abilities. He still has a way to go to overcome his overprotectiveness/insecurity, but a little advice from his boss helps him along the way. I loved his big moment at the end.

Even though this is the 8th book in a series I was excited to jump into it as the synopsis sounded like a really great read and I was not disappointed. I loved the writing and pacing and it made the story flow wonderfully. The story was full of action and just enough tension between Coral and Trevor. Seeing them grow and learn from their past actions as well as be accepting of their own and each others flaws made for a great second chance relationship. I especially liked Coral as a character, even if there were some questionable moments that were perhaps a little unbelievable - it didn't matter since I was caught up in the story itself.

I really enjoyed the story itself and how it progressed. I would definitely check out more of this series in the future and it doesn't seem like you have to read them in order to enjoy them.

If you're looking for a fast paces, suspense filled second chance romance don't miss this enthralling read!

Coral Staufer is making a new life for herself after her marriage to Trevor Stone ended in divorce three years ago. She's never met anyone else to fall in love with but his job took him away both physically and emotionally too often first as a Marine and later as an undercover agent. Now she's hosting weddings in the barn on the farm she inherited from her aunt - or she was until someone literally blew it up! When she spots three men on the ruins of the barn she goes out to confront them but they're Russian gangsters and that's when she recognises her ex-husband . . . He manages to rescue her this time but now they're both in danger. As they attempt to find what the Russians are looking for, their mutual attraction and love flares again but they need to bring the villains to justice to have any chance of a HEA....

This is an action packed, steamy romance with plenty of intrigue, danger and love. It is a great story to escape into as both main characters come to recognise their own parts in the breakdown of their marriage but will the deadly danger thwart their opportunities to rekindle their romance and give their love another chance to grow?

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Can two people with a rocky past overcome everything while in the middle of gun fire?

This story ended up being so good! Incognito Ex was the first thing I've read by Geri Krotow, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm very happy with what I got.

The writing and storytelling were wonderful and engaging. I spent the whole story rooting for Trevor and Coral and enjoyed all the twists and turns they ran into. You could feel how much love and angst were between the two.

I thought the premise of this book sounded interesting. I love thrillers and this was marketed as one. However, I was a little disappointed. It really is more of a romance than anything. That being said, it's not a bad book, it just isn't the type of book I normally like to read. I felt like I couldn't really connect with the characters at all (and that's a pretty big must). Also this is pretty far down the series of which I haven't read any of, so because of that, I feel like I didn't know the characters as much as I should have. Again, not a reflection on the writing, but more about the need to read the others. I also feel like I was really frustrated with these characters most of the time.

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review.

I thought this book sounded interesting from the plot synopsis so I thought I would try it. And it was a fine book but it really just didn't end up being for me. I struggle a lot with second chance romances, especially ones where the couple has already been married and divorced. I just find it so sad that they've missed out on so much time because they're so pig-headed and stubborn that they can't just communicate with each other. Some of the other things I struggled with this book on were also related to that - their chemistry and the build up to their first intimate moment just felt forced to me but I think it was because I was already so against their story line. This book had a wide cast of characters too and I always struggle with jumping into a series, especially in this case with the 8th book. This book really just wasn't for me personally but it wasn't a bad book. I really love Harlequin overall and that the different Series categories always deliver exactly what you're looking for in an easy to read package.
