I had not read any books in this series before and was feeling some trepidation beginning so far into the series. But the author put enough background into the book that I was able to get the gist of the previous books in the series.

I found the characters to be relevant and the plot to be interesting all through the book. I will be looking for her previous titles in this series to get an even better knowledge of the full story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review.

This is the 11th release in the popular cozy series "Penny Brannigan Mystery Series" by cozy author Elizabeth Duncan . I have read most of the series and was pleased to receive this for review. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinion is my own. ,

This was another enjoyable mystery in this series. Set in the summer in the island of Anglesey off the coast of North Wales the author sweeps the reader into the atmospheric beauty of the area. Peggy is on her summer retreat when she discovers a body that she suspects was murder but the local police do not agree with her. She decides to put aside her vacation to investigate. As she determines clues through interviewing locals she soon finds secrets abound about the victim that may shock people . She also has a summer romance that is new to her and taking her in a new unexpected direction.,

This was a well crafted sleuth and a book of growth for one of my favorite protagnist. I look forward to the next in series.

Set in coastal Wales, this book focuses on a mysterious death of a reporter who was there to investigate the disappearance of a man from New Zealand. A local spa owner is the one to discover the body, befriends the victim's mother, and gets involved in the investigation of the death. And, there's a bit of romance as she also meets a wildlife photographer and falls for him. The book focuses on relationships within a small village, as well as the mystery and romance. A very enjoyable read!

I really enjoyed this latest Penny Brannigan mystery. Happiness has finally come to Penny and she deserves it. What should be a fun painting weekend takes a turn when Penny discovers the body of a young women she met the evening before. I really like the visual the author creates of Wales in her books. It makes me want to visit as soon as possible.

A girls getaway/painting excursion ends in murder, mystery, and more than Penny Brannigan was expecting to experience. I feel like I found this series just as it is wrapping up so I guess I'm going to need to start at the beginning and read the other eleven books as well. And my TBR list grows ever longer because this series is definitely worth further reading. So many different mysteries wrapped up in one crime or was it more than one crime. One would say that it is quite a small world even that a visit to an art gallery could lead to a variety of information, like a palette of colors that can create a complete picture if you put them on the canvas in just the right way. An unsolved story, a young reporter, an old actor, a girls art experience weekend, a new romance, and murder. This story has you guessing and surmising, questioning and nodding. I couldn't put it down even when I went to get a cup of tea and I cannot wait to try out a welsh cake recipe although I will probably need to find some cranberries instead of currants.

This was the mystery I needed, a classic cozy in a great setting with an art theme. Penny and her friend, Alwynne, are on an island in Wales to take a weekend art class. Beaumaris is on the island of Anglesey on the North coast Wales and draws lots of tourists. Twelve of those people comprise the painting class. It should be a nice relaxing getaway but not long after meeting a young woman from New Zealand, Penny finds her dead on the beach. The police rule it an accident - case closed. Penny isn't buying it as the woman was a reporter following a story and chances are good she was murdered.Time to add sleuthing to their weekend.
This is the 11th in this delightful series and I very much hope that it isn't going to be the last. Each entry is well crafted and the characters are people I would be happy to spend time with. Each book is like a vacation to visit friends. There are enough twists and turns to keep me guessing to the end and I'm pleased when I guess wrong. If you are new to this series, don't worry, just dive in - it's fine as a stand alone.
My thanks to the publisher Crooked Lane and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I'm loving this series and I hope this isn't the last installment.
I was happy to catch up with the characters and enjoyed this engrossing and entertaining story.
The characters are as fleshed out as usual and the solid mystery kept me guessing.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This book has a little different story line, which I enjoyed very much. I loved getting to know the good folks of Llanelen. You never know when you might meet someone who becomes very important to you. Penny and Alwynne start out at an artist weekend and things pick up from there. Throw Colin and Jessica in the mix and things get interesting. I think you will enjoy the story as much as I did. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

This is the first in this series that I have read but it is not the first from the author. I enjoy Elizabeth Duncan’s A Shakespeare in the Catskills Mystery series. This can be read as a standalone, you won’t be missing anything.

I enjoyed the descriptions, of the Wales countryside.I felt like I was there and painting with Penny. I discovered a lot of unusual first names in this book. Always looking for things to learn.

The plot twists and turns helped propel the story. The touch of romance enhanced the story. I couldn’t wait to start the investigation which took a while.

I received an ARC from Netgalley and am not required to leave a positve review.

This is the first book that I've read in the series. My first impression is that this is the last book in the series or the series is going through a major transition. The murderer might have gotten away with the murder since the death is believed to be an accident if the murderer hadn't stupid and brought attention back to the death. Mention is made of the What3Words app. Never heard of it before this book. I've downloaded it to my cellphone. I attend to read the series from the beginning since I liked the characters and setting.

This is the eleventh book in the Penny Brannigan mystery series by Elizabeth J. Duncan.

I thought this was okay. It was pretty slow and I had to put it down a couple of times in order to get my gumption up to read it again. I was not compelled by the story or characters to continue. I did finish. They had me in the beginning when Penny found the dead body but with the lethargic story, I quickly lost interest. I think it has promise and with the bit of a rewrite could be quite good. Good bones but not a lot of follow through.

If you love a good cozy mystery, definitely check this one out.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Penny Brannigan is part owner of a spa in North Wales, when she goes on an art retreat one weekend to the Island of Anglesey she discovers a body on the beach. It's a young New Zealand reporter she'd met the night before. The police think it's an unfortunate accident, but Penny is sure it's murder. In addition, there's a bit of romance, Penny meets a wildlife photographer and they seem to hit it off. I like her books tremendously and love the way the characters have always grown and changed throughout the series. This book went fast, it wasn't as intricate as some of her other books, Penny seemed more interested in her new love than the murder. Also, some of the changes made me wonder if this would be the last in the series.

On Deadly Tides is the eleventh book in the A Penny Brannigan Mystery series by Elizabeth J. Duncan.

Penny Brannigan and her friend, Alwynne Gwitt, are looking forward to attending an artist retreat at a nearby town on the coast of Wales. On the evening of their arrival, Penny stops in the hotel’s bar for a drink. The bar is quite crowded, so Penny shares a table with a handsome Canadian wildlife photographer, Colin Campbell. Jessica Graham, a reporter from New Zealand, Jessica, will ask if she can share their table. Jessica relates that she is here to do an article on Bill Ward, actor turned artist, whose television show was a hit in New Zealand. Jessica states she will also be investigating the disappearance of a wealthy New Zealander who was visiting the coastal town several years ago.

The next morning Penny and Alwynne head out for a spot from where they can paint the impressive lighthouse. Penny thinks she has found the perfect place but approaches the cliff’s edge to get a different perspective and looks down to view the waves crashing the shore and see what appears to a body. Penny finds a path and carefully slides down to the shoreline. As she thought, there is a body and drags the body on to land as the tide is going out and afraid it will take it out to sea. Penny recognizes the body as that of Jessica. Penny called the police, and after their investigation, they determined that it was an accidental death.

When Jessica’s mother, Louise, arrives, she contacts Penny to learn what she saw at the scene as she doesn’t believe it was an accident, and Penny has to agree with her. Penny decides to look into what Jessica had been doing since arriving in town. Penny and Colin have hit off rather well, and Colin agrees to help Penny with her sleuthing. When Louise is found unconscious from an overdose of sleeping pills, she will deny taking any sleeping pills, and Penny feels confident that she is getting close to the killer. Penny hopes that the killer will be arrested before anyone else is hurt.

I enjoy this series a lot. Ms. Duncan’s description of the area makes to visit the place. The story is well-written and plotted with enough twists and turns to keep guessing until the end. The book’s characters are both well-developed and interesting and who I would enjoy calling friends.

I’m hoping there will be more books in this beautiful series.

Elizabeth Duncan delivers another great entry in the Penny Brannigan series, and hopefully not the last one. Romance is in the air and makes for an interesting sub-plot. As usual, the supporting cast of characters helps to move the plot along. A very readable, cozy mystery.

On Deadly Tides by Elizabeth J. Duncan is the eleventh book in Penny Brannigan series and the first one I have read.

Even so I was easily able to connect the dots and get to know the character,
Penny seemed pretty likable but not overly interesting. She was more enthusiastic about her love life than the murder. I couldn't develop a rapport with the main protagonist but I think it was due to the fact that I haven't started the series from the beginning.

I felt that things developed quite slowly and although she did state that she has helped local police with resolving murders before, main detective openly sharing details of an ongoing investigation is a bit too much to believe.
It started quite promising, I liked the plot, and the setting and long past mystery, but it quickly became bland and generic.
I felt like the author was about to finish this series, it had the definite closing feeling to it.
For those who enjoy a mixture of romance and mystery this is a good choice.

Penny Brannigan and her friend Alwynne go on a painting weekend to the coastal town of Anglesey. At the hotel, Penny meets Jessica Graham, a young reporter from New Zealand who has just arrived to cover several stories, and Colin Campbell, a wildlife photographer. The next morning, Penny and Alwynne set up near a prominent lighthouse to start painting when they spot Jessica's body at the base of a cliff. The police believe her death was a tragic accident but Penny has her suspicions. When Jessica's mother Louise arrives in Wales, she asks for Penny's help and they return to Anglesey.

Penny's suspicions are heightened when Louise almost dies from an overdose of sleeping pills and the fact that Jessica's backpack has never been found. Penny takes in Louise and continues her amateur sleuthing. She is surprised when an intruder sneaks into her cottage to search for Louise's belongings. Clues lead Penny to focus on a New Zealand man named Mark Currie who had disapperared 7 years ago and the whereabouts of her wife and her current lover.

Meanwhile, Penny's personal life gets a spark when she realizes that she is falling quickly in love with Colin. She gets a scare when Colin's team is missing during an expedition in the Canadian Arctic. But the story ends with the romantic pair reuniting and getting married.

I had enjoyed reading the earlier Penny Brannigan books but had not read the most recent ones. It is good that Penny has made a life for herself with her cottage, thriving spa business and has also found love.

I received a digital ARC from Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.

Penny doesn't think Jessica, a young journalist from New Zealand, fell to her death. She'd just met her- they're both at a retreat on Anglesey, an island off the coast of Wales. Penny's there with her friend Alwynne and they're meant to be painting, not solving mysteries but there you are! Jessica herself was investigating the disappearance of a New Zealander; is this what led to her death? Penny finds herself consoling Jessica's mother and then plunging into the case. Oh, and she's met Colin, a Canadian with a great deal of charm. This is classic cozy territory but it's set (oh joy) in Wales. This is the latest in a long running series but it's a fine standalone. The characters are well written, the mystery just twisty enough, and there's a new love interest for a mature sleuth. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fun read.

I don't think I have ever read a book set in Wales. I found it enchanting. Penny is on a painting weekend with her friend when she finds the body of a young journalist she had just met the night before on the beach. Something about the whole thing bothers Penny. She and her new friend Colin ask a few questions.

The location sounds beautiful and I like Penny and Colin and her small village. I have not ready any of the other books in the series. Occasionally there is a reference to adventures in other books, but nothing that kept me from understanding the background for this book. I would read another book by this author.

I'd like to thank the author, publisher and Net Galley for providing a free ecopy of this book in exchange for my review.

This is book 11 in a cozy mystery series. I haven't read others in this series, or by the author. Overall, it felt like the last in the series, where the author was wrapping up the story lines. Not sure if it was supposed to be the last in the series, but it felt that way.
