THREE. FIVE STARSI enjoyed tr interaction between various alphabet agencies from the USA and the UK. However, I found the interaction to be a bit on the tiresome side after a while. The poison plotline as a major focus was not a strong point as well. I’d give Dektora Raines another shot as a lead character. But the plotline would need to be stronger though.
When CIA officer Decktora Raines arrives in England at the invite of a defector she once handled, she learns that a Russian emigre has been murdered in London. The only clues are claw marks and an unidentified white powder. The bodies pile up, and the Metropolitan Police of London and the public begin to think that a serial killer is on the loose. But Decky and her defector know it's the Russians. And as the claw murders increase, with some of Decky's London contacts falling victim, she must put the bad memories behind her and rely on finely-honed instincts to find the killers and figure out what they have to gain—and how to stop them from killing again.

Readers and fan of spy thriller are going to love this new book by Lucy Kirk. This author is one to keep an eye out for to enjoy other books she has written.

The authors background gives the story a real feel and believable for a spy type thriller. The story uses characters development and the history of the spy gerne to keep readers on a nail biting pace. The characters are humanly flawed making them almost real as well as the story that revolves around the spying history between the warning nations the are in this wonderful book.

Spy thrillers are one of my favorite genres, but this book in particular was so good I think I would have enjoyed it even if it wasn’t. Written by an author who is a former CIA case officer, the story feels so authentic and I hope she writes more, Decktora Raines, the main character, is a CIA case officer on leave of absence. One of her former assignments, a Russian defector with a new life in England, contacts her because he feels he is threatened by his former boss who now works at the Russian Embassy in London, And so it begins as Decktora goes to London to see what’s up and works alongside with her counterparts in London. The US, British and Russian trio is good as ever. It was hard to put this one down and it keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen next. I loved it and recommend it if you like Daniel Silva or similar authors. Thank you to netgalley for this advanced readers copy of The Poison Factory in exchange for my review.

Very believable tale of Russians getting even and the things they might get up to to get their revenge. Good liaisons between UK, USA and the London Metropolitan Police to eventually get the culprits. Nail biting at times and some very silly mistakes kept me on edge.... The main character and her missing in action boyfriend was a nice side story and lovely ending. All in all a 'must read'.
