In Too Deep by Skye Jordan finds Laiyla returning to Wildfire Lake after twelve years, and three years after her grandfather passed away, leaving her his property. When she returns, she expects the property to look like it had when she last saw it, especially since she trusted her father to hire a caretaker for it. Only problem was her parents had their own agenda, and, as a result, what she returned to was a disaster. With the help of her friends, KT and Chloe, she’s determined to restore the property and turn it into a resort her grandfather would be proud of. One person standing in her way is the only contractor in town who will help her, who happens to be the love of her life that she left behind because of her parents’ demands.

Levi has an interest in helping Lailya; when she goes to sell the property, he wants it. What he wants more, however, is the woman who left him behind without a backwards glance. Because of Laiyla, Levi has found it hard to commit to anyone else. He wants a wife and kids, but he can’t move on. With Laiyla back in town, he believes this is the chance he has to get her out of his system and move on. What he doesn’t count on it Laiyla burrowing herself further into his heart. Will Lailya be able to finally take a stand against her parents and fight for the love that never died?

The book starts off with Lailya meeting KT and Chloe years earlier. Based on that, I had high hopes she was going to finally make a stand and start living her life for her, not for her parents. Then we move forward six years and she’s still letting her parents run her life. I was a little disappointed with that. I did like that being back at Wildfire Lake seemed to have her changing her tune and she quickly starts thinking for herself and learns, with the help of her friends, how to put herself first.

I liked Levi, for the most part. I thought he was a little too hard on Lailya at times. He holds her responsible for leaving, but at the time she was only seventeen. She had to listen to her parents at that point. I could understand his anger for her not coming back at all though. And for all his determination to keep his heart hardened towards her, he quickly changes his mind.

Lailya’s friends are interesting, and the author sets up possible future relationships for them. I’m interested in learning more about them and seeing what’s in store for them.

With interesting, entertaining characters and a great second chance romance, In Too Deep is one romance fans won’t want to miss.

My first book by the author and I really enjoyed it.
I love second chance romance and this one hit all the marks for a great story with a bit of everything in it.
From the first chapter to the last, it kept me interested and I loved the friendship between the girls and of course the chemistry and steamy scenes.
Looking forward to the next books in the series.

Slow to start but I see how it was necessary to develop the friendship between the Laiyla, KT and Chloe.
As someone exceptionally close to their grandparents, Laiyla had me crying. I was hoping for more of a showdown between Laiyla and her parents over the state of her grandfathers property.
Luke was a mixed bag for me. Too hot and cold.
The ending was a little over dramatic but git the point Laiyla was trying to make.
All in all, it was a good read. I look forward to the next books.

What a twist and turn book!! Love the beginning and the angst and drama build up.... I loved the sweet story of past romance between Laiyla and Levi. It is a slow build story that blossoms well. I truly rooted for the couple to grow and become a couple again. The quirky friends were awesome and this is a winner in my eyes. Thank you again for keeping me reading until the end with this wonderful story

M/F Second Chance Romance

Laiyla knows that coming back to her favorite place when she was a kid is going to open old wounds. But she's bound and determined to see it through. What she isn't prepared for is the squalor that the place was left in. The houseboats are in disrepair, the house is gone, there was a landslide, and much more. And to make it even worse, the town doesn't want her here. Laiyla knows that it's her job and her duty to fix everything and bring in more people to help her get the job done, even if it means going against what her parents want of her.

Even before she knew of the run down property that was left to her, her best friends come to her side. They help Laiyla see what it could be, what it will be, and they help her see past the hurt that comes barreling along with it.

Levi isn't prepared to ever see Laiyla again. He knows that. What he doesn't know is how much of a rush he gets from seeing her again, despite his anger towards her. With his new success, he wants Laiyla's uncle's property for himself too, but not at the expense of what Laiyla wants.

As these two navigate their past, the present, and potential future, both will have to fight old demons, forced expectations, and fight for their love. It was a great start to the story, and I can't wait to see Laiyla's friends get their own stories as they are the glue that holds everything together.

This is a sweet second chance romance with a healthy dose of making life long friendships and discovering your truth. Laiyla, KT, and Chloe meet under disastrous circumstances but from a bond that carries them forward on their journeys through life. Each comes from different backgrounds and is fighting their own battles but together they have the unconditional support and love they need to get through.

Laiyla battle is with herself and her being a people pleaser. I'm this case the people she strives to please are her parents, who never seen to be satisfied no matter what she does. A week-long getaway to her childhood vacation spot turns into the one thing that changes everything for her and gives her the determination and strength she desires to take back control of her life and finally won back the man she loved and left behind.

I tried to get into this but gave up not far off of 70 pages in. I just don't think it was for me, even though the synopsis sounded like my cup of tea.

I received the ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for my honest review. Thank you for my copy. I loved this book. I love second chance love stories and this story was exactly that. It was a fast read for me. I read it in one day!! Laiyla and Levi were teenage sweethearts that moved apart. Now she’s back in town to fix her grandfather’s property after 12 years apart. I loved the chemistry and spark between them. They were adorable together. Love does conquer! Her best friends were amazing and fun! I’m looking forward to Chloe’s story. Fingers crossed I’m hoping that will be the next book.

Laiyla Saxon grew up in a wealthy family that owns a chain of hotels. She's a city girl living in Los Angeles, and on the outside she appears to have it all. Brains, beauty, and a fabulous career, but on the inside she's struggling and frustrated with where her life is at. For years she's let her parents control her, and living up to their expectations has become exhausting. Her hopes and dreams were suffocated, and she can't remember the last time she was truly happy, but if she really searches her heart it would be the times spent with her grandfather at his cabin in California, and with the local boy there who'd once been her everything. When she returns to Wildfire Lake to tie up some loose ends will she find herself and figure out where she really belongs?

Levi Asher lives in Wildfire and has a wonderful life, except he's missing that someone special to share it with. He gave his heart away as a teenager, and never got it back. Laiyla was the one that got away. They spent eight perfect summers together and then she walked away and left him feeling completely shredded. It's been twelve years, and now she's back in Wildfire, but for how long is anyone's guess. They have a history that ended over a decade ago, but she still makes him feel out of control. He's never felt this way about anyone else or had this intense of a connection. He still wants her, but knows he can't survive her again. Will she stay in his past or become his future? Will they finally get their shot at forever?

In Too Deep (Wildfire Lake, #1) by Skye Jordan is a sexy, emotional, heartwarming standaone romance about friendship, first loves, second chances, and unbreakable connections. I really loved this story and can't wait for more books in the series!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.
For me this was a mediocre romance novel. I did Stan the female friendships. I felt quite at loss when things weren’t fully. I felt like I was supposed already know what was/had happened. It did not keep attention for long. Again, the “true love” seemed forced to me.

This is book one in the Wildfire Lake series and it features Laiyla and Levi. This is a very sexy, sweet and steamy Second Chance Romance. My heart aches for Levi and the loss he felt all those years ago. I didn’t care for Laiyla at first. The hold her parents STILL had on her, even all these years later, was very irritating to me. All in all this is a beautiful and entertaining Second Chance Romance. I can’t wait to read Chloe‘s and KT’s stories.

'My stomach seizes and my heart skips. "Levi?" I still don't quite believe it. I'm not prepared to face him. Not in the least. "I'm touched you remember my name." '

Laiyla can not believe it. Her first 5 minutes in town, and she runs into her teenage love. What are the chances? She's been gone 12 years, but no man has every compared to Levi and the love she felt for him. And she's never really been happier than she was during her summer visits to this little town.

Levi can't believe Laiyla is really back. The question is for how long? He feels he can't even think about letting her back into his life, or his heart.

Laiyla has a lot of convincing to do to get the people in Wildfire to see that she is back to do good not harm to the town. As far as what do about Levi? Laiyla knows she is still in love with him. But can she really give him the commitment he wants? Which means turning her back on her past career, life and what her parents expect of her.

I loved this story! It was my first read by Skye Jordan. I look forward to reading more!

Laiyla has returned to the town where she used to spend her summers. She quickly discovers not everyone is happy she’s back, especially her ex Levi, who’s heart has hardened to steel when it comes to her. She has a lot of work and relationships to rebuild if she wants to earn their trust again.

Levi and Laiyla have a past and she unintentionally hurt him years ago which he has never forgot about. After seeing him again she knows he’s the key to the happiness she’s been looking for. Both will need to let go of the past before they can look forward to the future. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m excited for the rest of the series!

Laiyla is heading back to Wildfire Lake to meet up with her friends. She is saddened by the disrepair the place is in and wants to restore it. The town isn’t all that happy to see her will she be able to get anyone on her side? Laiyla broke Levi’s heart when she went to Paris and never looked back. Will he be able to put his heart back together and move on? Entertaining second chance romance. Great characters, lots of steam and a sweet story. I liked it.

It has been a while since I have read a book by Skye Jordan but I remembered loving her science fiction/paranormal books written under the name of Joan Swan so this was a pleasant surprise to see on NetGalley. In Too Deep is the first of what looks to be trilogy. I will say that she has only gotten better over the years as a writer when she already wrote a compelling read years ago. This story has one of the most intriguing prologues I have read. I couldn’t figure out from the first few pages where this story was going when it did not match up with the description. However, seamlessly it all fell into place wonderfully. It is described as fresh and sexy and it certainly is that.

The back story of Levi and Laiyla is given without anything important missing or being redundant. Then their story moves right on steamrolling into a fast paced but not instant love story. They have a history which has always gotten into the way of their present lives even a part. The friends and family are incredible with me unsure who I want to get their story next. Only I know that I want it to be soon.

The only drawback of the story is the overuse of a certain four letter word. Really these are college educated people they should have more words int hoer vocabulary to describe how they are feeling then that one word. It probably won’t offend many but as an educator I wish that they could have expanded their word usage.

4.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jordan is back with a vengeance. The Wildfire Lake series can tempt hearts as easily as it can break them. Laiyla, KT and Chloe start their friendship with a bang and drag our emotions along for the ride. First up is Laiyla’s story. In Too Deep is a tale of friendship, a journey of second chances and a look at an enduring love. For Levi and Laiyla, the one that got away could be the start of a new beginning. Despite the bumps and bruises that Ms. Jordan delivers to the heart, she never misses the chance to make hearts smile. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

* * * Spoiler Free-A Quick Review
Years ago I fell hard for a series called Renegades. It was my first experience with Skye Jordan and I was smitten. That series had all the elements I wanted, hot guys, strong women, and interesting setups.

Well, Ms. Jordan is starting another series, and this time she has created a place with all the necessary elements of a town that bonds and looks after their own.

This time we have a gal who use to come and visit her grandfather. She would be there through the summers and then have to leave. She fell hard for a fella and her parents wanted her to be who they wanted her to be...causing her to leave her fella heartbroken for the last 12 years.

Yup, he never really got over the abandonment he felt from her leaving and never coming back. He is successful in his field and when this woman returns to Wildfire Lake to rejuvenate the marina and cabin her grandfather left her, he decides to help as a means to close this open chapter.

Ms. Jordan has put together characters who are interesting, a town with a history, and two people who want a second chance. She has also laid enough groundwork for more books to come.

I absolutely adored this sweet second chance romance. Perfect for a day on the beach, this one hits all the emotions. The characters are great. Levi will be your next book boyfriend. Laiyla grows so much over the course of the story, and the girls feel like friends. I can't wait for KT and Chloe's books.

Such a sweet read. Small town, second chance romance adventure not too angsty. When three best friends meet up for their 30th birthdays they plan on a week of fun and catching up in a luxurious lodge by the side of the lake. What they actually get is quite a bit different. As Laiyla returns to her grandfather’s hometown after a 12 year absence, she’s not surprised to discover that her first love, Levi, is stilly the resident golden boy. She is surprised however, to discover she is now public enemy number 1, through no fault of her own. Her summer retreat is now a run down marina left to rack and ruin. Not only has she got to decide what to do with the marina she inherited, she’s got to contend with her sexy ex boyfriend, angry townsfolk, and parents who try to control her every move. It’s a good job she’s got the two best friends a girl could wish for to support her. This is my first read by Skye Jordan, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great writing, characters to keep you entertained, and a storyline leaving you wanting more, and I’m glad to see we’ll be getting more in this Wildfire Lake series. I’m guessing 2 more books focussing on Laiyla’s besties, Chloe and KT (that’s my hope anyway). They’ll be in my tbr as soon as they hit my Goodreads. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
