This is the .5 novella in the new Kitchen Witch mystery series by Lynn Cahoon.

Another series to follow by Cahoon! Yay!

I have to admit I wished this story had been longer. It is only 100 pages and I feel like it could have easily been stretched into a full book. There wasn’t as much of the magic and I wanted to see but we did get a good introduction to everyone and what was going on in this Idaho town.

I wanted the revelation of the killer to be a little more drawn out since I about blinked and missed the whole whodunit part of the story. That seemed a bit too speedy for me. But the choice of the killer was a good one.

I feel like the next book in the series will really start this series off with a real bang. Definitely looking forward to it.

If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

This novella-length book is an intro into Lynn Cahoon’s new Kitchen Witch series. I’m a big fan of Cahoon’s Tourist Trap series, and this looks to be just as good. Mia is a witch and so is her grandmother. Mia is visiting her to help her set up a food pantry and conduct a chili contest. Of course, there is a mystery to solve and a possible detective boyfriend. I look forward to the first full length novel in the series. Recommended.

This was a fun, albeit short read. However, it was an introduction to a new series to be released later this year. I read this and the first chapter of the next book and I cannot wait.

Mia takes a week off from her work at a restaurant to return to the town of Magic Springs, Idaho to help a friend of her grandmother get the community foodbank into shipshape as school is starting again. What starts as an already arduous task becomes more difficult when a murder occurs on the premises.

That is just a bit of the story - Mia is also a witch. I truly wish this book had more magic in it, but perhaps I will be treated to more in the next story. I liked Mia and her grandmother, aka Grans. I wish we had gotten to explore Magic Springs more but most of this story centers around the food warehouse.

This was a tantalizing teaser for a new series and I am so excited to get the next book.

Chili Cauldron Curse an introduction to the Kitchen Witch Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. Once again I think Lynn Cahoon has a hit series in the making! I absolutely love her Tourist Trap and Cat Latimer Mystery series, this will surely be a new favourite by this author.

Welcome to Magic Springs, Idaho. Having been to Idaho I could picture the area where the story is taking place and I found myself engrossed in the story and really enjoying the characters. It was entertaining, full of twists and turns that kept me guessing till the very end.

What a great way of introducing us to the main characters Mia, Grans, and Mr. Darcy the cat familiar. I can’t wait for ONE POISON PIE to be released. I highly recommend this new series to all my cozy loving friends.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

Cute novella to the start of a new series. I’m not sure I’m much into the witchcraft, but I love Lynn’s books. Can’t wait to read the first full length book. Hoping there is more of Office Baldwin.

Mia Malone visits her grandmother, Mary Alice Carpenter, to help reorganize the Magic Springs Food Bank in time for the upcoming fundraiser, a Chili Cook-off.

As Mia begins working, she discovers a spell that affects the building even though she uses her power to reverse the magic. The next day, Mia and Christina find Dorian Alexander, dead, under a pile of boxes.

Mia and Gran are witches. And Gran becomes a suspect in Dorian’s murder due to her status as his most recent girlfriend. So now Mia and Gran begin investigating. Unfortunately, just as Gran is casting a spell, Mr. Darcy, Mia’s familiar, jumps up on the table, and Dorian’s spirit merges with the cat.

The novella is a delightful introduction to Lynn Cahoon’s new Kitchen Witch Mystery series. This story establishes an engaging group of characters in a small community where witches and magic are accepted. More bewitching tales are not far behind.

This is a novella for a new paranormal witch series by the popular Lynn Cahoon. Mia is a witch and is a wonderful and strong character. She is trying to blend in and not use her magical powers. She is visiting her grandmother, who is also a witch, to help with reopening a local Food Bank. Someone Mia's grandmother knows ends up dead and they are all suspects. Mia's boyfriend's sister, Christina, is visiting and is at loose ends and is a bit immature but I ended up liking her. This is a fun, quick read to get to know these new characters. Quite enjoyable! #NetGalley #ChiliCauldronCurse

Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to read this short novella! I am a Lynn Cahoon fan, but since I am not a fan of paranormal books, I wondered what I would feel about this read. I am sill not a fan of the genre, but Cahoon writes well, and for anyone and everyone who enjoys witches, potions and magic, this most definitely is wort a read!

Mia is taking a week off work to help her grandma with her local food bank. Mia finds her grandma’s new bf murdered. Grans is a prime suspect. Not even Gran’s special spells can help her out of this mess, but Mia is determined to figure out whodunnit.

I think the new series that will spark out of this introduction novella will be an interesting one. Due to it being a novella it did not dig deep into a mystery, and it was solved quickly.

I enjoyed this short book.It was an easy read with a likable main character, and I think the other characters and little town were also interesting, and I look forward to reading more. I would love to see both the characters and the town develop and I think it has great potential.

My first reaction is it was a cute book and yes I want to read the next one. I'm hoping that Mr. Darcy learns to speak up. Mia, a chef, arrived to help her witch grandmother fix up a food bank and a chili competition. Finding a dead body wasn't in the plan.

This review was written with honesty.

When Mia Malone’s grandmother asks her to take a week away from her restaurant job and come to Magic Springs, Idaho, she’s happy to oblige. Like Mia, Grans has witchcraft running through her veins, and life with her is never boring. Plus, the cause is a good one—helping Grans get the local food bank up and running again. But there’s an unappetizing surprise in store. While Mia is knee-deep in boxes of donated produce, she encounters the body of Dorian Alexander.

This book was a page turner for sure. It is a little different then she normally writes but it kept me guessing the whole entire way once you thought you had an idea what was going on something else will pop up the quirky characters in this book are totally enjoyable I cannot wait for the next one in the series to come out I recommend that if you guys want a cute cozy magical mystery you turn to her books.

What an amazing start to a very promising series! I loved the main character and fell in love with her life and the town itself. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Mia Malone is back in town to help her grandmother' and her friend Tasha, get their food bank up and running again, after it had closed for a bit due to Tasha's illness.
The first day brought the smell of rotting fruit and vegetables, and complete disorder. The second day started with a body and the police....her grandmother's boyfriend's body.
Mia and her grandmother work to get the food bank ready and try to find out what happened to Dorian.
Ms. Cahoon's tale of intrigue about murder and the local coven is entertaining. Her characters are colorful and we get suspects aplenty, but things aren't always as they appear. I look forward to the next installment, and recommend it for a lovely afternoon past time.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse gratis and offer my opinion in the same vein.

Chili Cauldron Curse by Lynn Cahoon is the prequel to the Kitchen Witch cozy mystery series. It is set mostly in Magic Springs, Idaho. I am a big fan of the Lynn Cahoon series and when Netgalley posted this new series, I had to give it a try. I am so happy with Netgalley and Kensington Publications for allowing me to read and review this novella.

I liked the characters. I even liked disliking the boyfriend. Ms Cahoon did a wonderful job introducing us to the characters that will be woven throughout her series. Even though the story was a short one, I can’t wait for the main book of the series.

Hooray for another Cahoon series to keep me reading.

Chili Cauldron Curse by Lynn Cahoon looks to be the beginning of a fun and entertaining new cozy series sprinkled with a bit of supernatural. Mia Malone is a kitchen witch, home in Magic Springs, Idaho to get the local food bank back up and running. Magic Springs is home to a witch’s coven that is rife with inner policies and strife. Mia wants no part of this but can’t help getting involved when she discovers a dead warlock in the food bank one morning. While there is a mystery here, the primary purpose of this novella is to introduce the primary and secondary cast of characters and I look forward to getting to know them better when the first full length book of the series is released. Novellas can be tricky to write but except for a somewhat abrupt conclusion, this is well done and enjoyable. Four stars.
This is a fun read and I thank NetGalley and the publishers for giving me an advanced copy for review. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.

This is a short taste of a new series coming.
Interesting characters but I didn’t feel the whodunit was a strong story.
I do look forward to reading the next book, and hopefully it will be full length.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I love Lynn Cahoon, and all of her other series. This one just missed for me. Although the characters were interesting, I wasn't convinced to like them. I was put off 'the Goddess' references, because the tone of the book wasn't whimsical enough for me to buy in to Mia's beliefs and/or practices. Because the author is who she is I'm certain that I can look forward to more understanding in a full length rather than a novella.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Chili Cauldron Curse by Lynn Cahoon is a prequel novella to her new Kitchen Witch Mystery Series. I was so excited to have won this on Goodreads.

The characters were well developed and delightful. Mia has gone to Magic Springs, Idaho to help her Grans set up a food pantry for the community. I loved the different characters in this book. The mystery was fun and I didn't guess who the murder is.

This is a novella but had all the wonderful elements of a full length novel.

I can't wait for the next book in the series to see what Mia and Grans are up to next!

I could tell I was stepping into the middle of a story, but it wasn't too hard to pick up. It was more difficult to see why the main character was staying in a relationship that wasn't beneficial or supportive of either party, and why it took so long for her to recognize that let alone do something about it. But I have to say I have not read a murder mystery centered around a food bank and magic users before.

A start of a new series. Mia goes to help her grandma, and ends up trying to help her solve a murder. A good cozy mystery overall, but the witch angle seemed a bit odd. May just be me. Would recommend.
