There’s nothing better than curling up with a new book in this wonderful series. Robbie is a sweet character, but when murder interrupts her holidays, she steps up and takes charge.
This book is packed with great details and colorful characters, not all of them very nice.
The colors of the book cover are vibrant and eye catching, and will certainly grab the reader’s attention.

Robbie Jordan’s restaurant, Pans ‘n Pancakes, is the best place in South Lick, Ohio, for good food and juicy gossip. The folks in this small town are, for the most part, close-knit and supportive of each other, but there are exceptions. When two murders shake up the usually peaceful town, Robbie and her friends race to discover the murderer before they strike again. Suspects include a racist doctor, a negligent landlord, and a young Muslim man with a nasty temper: however, there are a bunch of residents hiding major secrets, making it harder to pin down the killer.
Candy Slain Murder is an enjoyable cozy mystery with well-rounded characters and a clever plot. Robbie is an engaging protagonist who works with the local police rather than interfering with their cases, as often happens in this genre. The descriptions of the delicious food she serves will make the reader hungry. Luckily, recipes are included.
This book will appeal to readers of cozy/traditional mysteries. It is the first in a series. I look forward to reading about Robbie’s future adventures

Christmas time is coming to South Lick, Indiana and Robbie Jordan and her crew are making the season delicious with their holiday specials. But when a house fire reveals the skeleton of a long missing woman, not everything is merry and bright in town. Now Robbie finds herself consumed with thoughts of the murder and trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together before she becomes just another notch in the killer’s belt.

Maidie Day’s books NEVER disappoint. She has solid, well developed characters and a whodunit that will keep you guessing on all the pieces until the big reveal. You might think you know who the killer is, but you surely don’t know why. A solid whodunit every. single. time.

It certainly felt like Christmas when I saw that the newest book in the series was available for request! I love reading about Robbie and all of the other characters. I have no idea how Robbie manages to run a restaurant and solve crimes.
